  1. Hey I was under the impression that a forced fumble on the qb counted as a sack. Maybe not...
  2. Gasp maybe Roy forgot his green jersey!
  3. I see his frustration but yeah...you goofed. Good for you to put education first but rules are rules. Don't call out your authority figures like that. His playing days are done.
  4. No we would have to lose three. If they only lose one more to Texas we would still have the tie breaker.
  5. Plus there's that whole concussion factor. Gotta protect a kid from Suh.
  6. What success? As is regularly pointed out on this board, Mizzou sucks. Sweetheart, nothing about this team is predicated on victories over Missouri. Nothing. You can disabuse yourself of that notion right now.
  7. Well you know 9 wins is nothing after only winning 5 the season before...
  8. Well I mentioned in another post that this morning the host said missouri dominated for 3 quarters...(you know...as in 12 points dominated)...well on my way home they were still talking crazy. Their analyst actually said that if Missouri can at least win the game in Stillwater this weekend (dropping the game against Texas) they should be considered the favorite to win the North. Funny how only missouri is talking like this. Do they realize we would have to lose 3 games for them to win under that scenario? Where are the 3 losses going to come from? OU maybe....TT possible...KU doubt it (I mean why should we believe missouri will beat them but we won't)....CU....it's a stretch....ISU, Baylor, KSU....sigh.
  9. Yep. My argument was with the South Carolina fan's comment.
  10. Why does everyone insist that Green playing in Missouri would've been such a controversy. The guy is the stronger runner and under those conditions that was why I thought they should try. Not because Lee was failing. His strength is not in his legs. These were crazy weather conditions that you don't see every season (for each school that is). Of course Watson talking about sitting him down for a series was to let him see the field so that tells me he wasn't doing it to change the gameplan. That, to me is the only reason Green should be put in.
  11. I think its more that the WCO is dead, high schools almost NEVER run it and most college do not run it now. Will Muschamp was quoted as saying, after his Auburn team smoked NU in the bowl game that "I love playing those WCO teams, they all script the first 15 plays but after that they are all so easy to figure out" Now, thats not word for word but its close. Think back to that game, the first NU drive was great, after that, they did NOTHING. College coaches dont want to waste their time trying to teach the complex WCO anymore when you can teach the spread, or zone read that puts your players in space and fits more players as well. You dont need a big huge running back, look at Noel Devine. You dont need a 6'5 235 pound QB anymore, you dont need huge WR's. The offenses now fit the players into their scheme instead trying to fit the scheme into their players. I have coached football for 10 years and I can say with all honestly that I have NEVER coached against a WCO team. High schools hardly ever use it, high schools have always tried to put the ball into the hands of their best player as much as possible, since the QB touches the ball each play it all starts there, so they love putting a good runner their and work from that point. Maybe Watson decided to script the last 15 plays on Thursday.
  12. Agreed. Except when Helu busts a big run.
  13. I thought JL was a good running. His game in 02 against Texas was crazy...until he had to throw the ball. I seem to remember Frank Solich being asked early in his head coaching tenure about not passing the ball much in a game they won big. He replied "there wasn't any need" or something like that. That was the biggest issue I had with him. Too one dimensional. GeorgiaTechFAn I love watching that triple option and cannot find myself rooting against GT now that they use it.
  14. Yeah and yet we still only gave him an inch maybe into the endzone. I loved the call but I was even more impressed how quick our guys reacted to it. Thought for sure he was going to walk in untouched when I saw him pull the ball out of the RB.
  15. People should really do some research before they post stuff like that Gamecock fan. What a joke. The whole article praised Suh about last season as well as this and he acts like it was just one game.
  16. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The Huskers redzone issues had nothing to do with the play calling. It was EXECUTION that was the problem. Shawn Watson didn't drop two sure TDs in the end zone, or commit a half dozen false starts on one drive. And he sure as hell didn't commit the holding penalty that cost McNeill his TD either. Seriously all this armchair coordinating is getting old. Was I freaking out at half time of the Mizzou game? Damn right I was, and by the end of the game I felt foolish for it too. If you guys aren't sold on the fact that Watson is a damn good Coordinator yet, then I'm afraid you will never be satisfied. What would you prefer we canned him for someone like Barney Cotton? We know he likes to run the football. How bout we bring ol' Franky Solich back, and see how unproductive our offense is then! Actually I believe Frankie's offense would've won that game Thursday.
  17. Commenting on this...I think the issue people have is why were there only 5 guys in to run block. Why not call more plays like the handful of times we did with 4 tightends? Just give it a series and see what happens. Try to establish a power running game in wet sloppy conditions. Especially since Nevada was able to put yards up on them. I know Nevada is a run first team but I would like to believe we have a more physical offensive line than they do.
  18. Except for the fact that it's painfully obvious with the audible. Anytime lee waves both arms in a "scrap that sign" it means the D setup right and here comes a pass. At least that would be what they were implying in the article by saying they had a certain number of runs called but they stacked the box so we audibled to a pass play. I realize there are many different passing plays in each formation but I do still wonder how many run plays lee stuck too despite the look the defense gave him. Just some observations and thoughts.
  19. Why not let the returning blackshirts keep theirs. Then you have some leadership and at the start of season you award the other starters. Charlie McBride was said to threaten to take them away from time to time when his kids were slacking. And as far as different defensive packages...whatever players are in there during 1 vs 1's gets a blackshirt.
  20. They forgot to mention the recruiting advantage (though Tom touched on it with navy and air force). There are plenty of qbs that run the option in high school and there's not as much competition unless they also have an amazing arm. You get the idea.
  21. While it's nice to see the respect and recognition returning...to say "probably not" about beating texas...
  22. I hope they don't gameplan around suh. It'll be a long afternoon. And anybody else find this line disturbing? "Texas, their ball get-off is so good"
  23. Nice poll.... I voted in it. Good ole Huskerpedia.
