  1. Painter took the 436th ranked recruit in the nation and made him the National Player of the Year. Nebraska beat up cream-puffs while Purdue played a f***ing gauntlet in non-conference. The share is perfectly earned by both.
  2. 15% chance of rain. I'm. . .pretty sure they'll get it in.
  3. It's not really Brockett's fault Carey ate an inning-ending ground ball for no good freaking reason.
  4. Ty Horn made some good pitches today and should get more chances to start. Can't believe how bad the defense was behind him.
  5. I kind of wanted Sears to go 9, but after another longish inning at the plate thus another long layover for Brett in the bottom of the 8th, coupled with Kyle Froehlich coming off some kind of minor injury and needing some work, I am once again exposed as a moron So far, Sears is spinning something for the books. 28 strike outs to 2 walks in 4 starts. Good game, just wish they had come out ready last night. Come out angry tomorrow, too.
  6. Hopefully returning home helps Swansen get hot, he hit most of his 18 dingers in Haymarket last year.
  7. Another strong start for Christo. Caleb Clark should be angry that someone wants to bump him out of the weekend rotation and respond by throwing 7 shutout innings That's assuming the weather cooperates and they get all the games in.
  8. Worthley pitched last year. After his rough go last week, a few people on fb/x/etc. were sh***ing all over him saying he sucked last year and should never pitch again, even though he had some spots where he looked like he had a lot of potential that just needed some experience. I know fans overreact (myself included) but the hate was weird. But yeah I'd give Christo the nod too because the guy was limited due to some kind of injury or something, so they're not cutting him all the way loose it sounds like. He made a case for a weekend spot with Walsh and Clark being a little less effective this series. The Charleston series should tell us a lot.
  9. The thing about Friday though was all Brett Sears was doing was pumping his fist and shouting at his teammates. Didn't really try to show up GCU at all, and the umpire saw fit to lecture him, whereas they were just screaming straight at Nebraska's dugout and players on the field yesterday and today. Kyle Perry finally gave it back to them directly after the final out today, although I would prefer he not do that.
  10. Huge props to Jalen Worthley today. Spun 3 beautiful innings after a really tough outing last weekend.
  11. Don't like the sloppy play in that one. By the same token, GCU is a respectable program (well, other than their bizarre trash talking, so change respectable to capable of winning baseball games I guess). Going to need Caleb Clark to do something he hasn't done often enough: pitch well.
  12. Little o' both? Fun game. Always nice to drop a deuce like that on an opponent's head in their own house. Um, metaphorically speaking.
  13. LOL. Horn and Olsen did their jobs. McConnaughey came in with the go-ahead runner at third, 2 outs in the 8th and got a groundout, then struck out the first batter in the 9th. The walk was unfortunate but he made a perfectly good pitch to the next batter who wound up getting a weak infield single, which may have rattled him into the wild pitch, who knows. He also struck that batter out shortly after throwing it to the backstop. Now Worthley struggled, yes. Perhaps in the future, Childress goes to somebody like Olsen instead and that inning ends with no runs across.
  14. SDU* The pitching last year in that San Diego series was abysmal, and SDU ended up 24-25-1, so not that much better than Baylor perhaps Obviously it's only one game so we'll see, but a good opener beats losin'.
  15. Too-early overreaction: helllloooo Robert A. Childress!
  16. Yeah Martinez was apparently tearing up the scout team in '09.
  17. I think Urban even said it publicly back in '03.
  18. What's the point here? They shouldn't try to maximize revenue at the other two events even if it won't match the spring game which by default can hold roughly 14x more fans? People are going to show up for the spring game to watch Raiola no matter what time it kicks off. Might as well play it at a time where they can hope to entice a couple thousand people to wander over to Haymarket Park. Baseball is playing Iowa (who has won the series over Nebraska way too many times lately), I'd guess they'd get about 5K under normal circumstances which is pretty good, this timing could bump it up over 6K. Win-win.
  19. Let me introduce you to Nebraska basketball. . .
