  1. The biggest failure has been in the pitching staff, Silva has not fixed the free-base fetish the pitchers have had for a few years in a row now. And yet, he has proven himself every other place he's coached so maybe more than 1 season should be granted before declaring any hire a failure
  2. http://tamu.247sports.com/Board/20/Gameday-voting-opened-back-up-and-we-are-number-1-so-far-9360056/1 They are cheating. Again.
  3. It's pitching depth. Nebraska doesn't have it this year. There's no reliable ace to keep a team off the scoreboard deep into the game yet. I could buy that, except that it's not just Friday night (Ace Night). It's almost every game. That's just it, there's no leader on the pitching staff yet to set any kind of tone for a weekend.

  5. I heard somewhere that they noticed a drop in velocity from Lemke, if I recall correctly. Not sure if his arm will make it back to normal this season Hopefully soon.
  6. Love the late inning heroics, love breaking Iowa's spirit in such a manner (outright bludgeoning them is fun, too, though, if anybody on the team is reading this, for future reference.)
  7. That is why I went back to edit my post. The Bourbon is strong in this one tonight. Agree though, best thing offensively and defensively is Scheffert at third. Although I really like Headley. Was a great player up in Omaha Oh, my comment was a rhetorical question directed at the coaches, not your original post. We're clearly geniuses though, look at today's results
  8. Why can't Scheffert stay at third? Headley would also be a good option. Nothing personal against Farmer, but Northwestern didn't score an earned run on Saturday and now Iowa gets enough freebies to win by 1? Can't afford that.
  9. I don't think it's physically possible for Northwestern's stadium to hold more than 1,000. Worst stadium in the Big 10, and there are several hideous fields in this conference.
  10. The team used to do this on Sundays if they split the first two games, I'll assume this was coach Bolt's idea? I like it, it gave them some attitude, I just hope we get to see the black jersey every weekend.
  11. On one play, the runner at second (I forget who it was for sure) held up to see if the ball was going to be caught, he got thrown out at the plate. The guys on the radio said he probably should not have hesitated, the likelihood of it being caught was not high.
  12. I think sometimes coaches will agree to implement the rule during a doubleheader, as well.
  13. Erstad said before the season started that the early games would be used to see what the entire roster was made of. How the coaches handle situations right now might not reflect how they will be handled down the line with more at stake. I think they wanted to see Niederklein work out of the jam and were confident that he was capable of doing so, too bad it didn't work out last night, it was definitely hard to listen as it happened
  14. And NET still has 6 games of their own, so 10 total games televised in the state (NET games are free online), 2 more than last season.
  15. The games against Creighton in TD Ameritrade Park should still be televised by NET/CBS College Sports. It'd be nice if the Big Ten will allow NET to air their usual 5-6 games at Haymarket.
  16. Thanks for the heads up. 2/11 last year was the week before opening day, so I'm not sure what they're waiting for this year; fwiw last year BTN had 30 games on TV and 50 more online according to this article: http://collegebaseball360.com/2011/02/11/big-ten-network-2011-college-baseball-schedule/
  17. The Big 10 Network announced their baseball broadcast schedule on Feb. 11th last season, so expect a blurb any day now
  18. Nebraska doesn't play Michigan State in the regular season, so that'll help. . .
