good thread.... remember, our previous head coach wasn't 2-0 in his first year. pretty similar game for the first three quarters as that game against southern miss. no panic, no monotny on offense or defense... how is that not better than the previous HMFIC? 4-0 into missouri is still feasable. if you tell people that missouri and nebraska were to be undefeated into that game, i'm pretty sure that you would have a lot of happy people. that last half proved to me we could play with missouri. and if the offense can click, and gans can play mistake free football, i would roll the dice and take my chances. juice williams had a field day on that team. and i tend to believe joe is a better thrower than juice.

this year.. we make turnovers and make it to where the game changes on a good special teams play. last year... we lose this game with cosgrove making that face all game again. i'll take this year over last year any day of the week.

this is a very valid question. and i don't get why, when someone questions a coach and is he doing well, he gets bullied by some people. we felt the urge to do this to busch, cosgrove, and elmassian the last few years. granted, cotton hasn't put his foot in his mouth like phil has (sacks are overrated), but this is a fair question. this is barney's first year in this offense. he was a oc, but at the same time, he also didn't have WCO in there, just read and veer and such. watson has incorporated several of cally's plays into this year's offense. there wasn't a whole lot of people in that box all day. it's not just one thing. maybe something we're gonna have to live with in this season, is that the pass will have to open the run most of the time. it's not like dennis wagner was a bad coach. the only thing that people can hold onto him is that he was a coach with bill callahan. if that's the case, nail gilmore and watson also to that pole and burn it.

so here's the deal.... i got a friend, me and his wife had birthdays two days apart, so we figured we'd all go out together. the group goes to downtown FW for dinner and we also went to pete's dueling piano bar. great place, we all had fun. the friends wife says "i wanna see boobies, lets go to the strip club" UMMM OKAYYYY... well the wife says she is going home, have fun. we go, cover is 25 bones. okay, after hours, who cares. we get there about 12:30, leave about 2:45. i dropped some money. lets not discuss money. lets know that some is some to me and a lot to some others. i get home and the wife is FURIOUS. all i told her was what the door was, she comes out with.. "Next time you stay till they close the doors." who's damn wife says THAT to them? and no i didn't tell her how much it costs... damn brunette. but seriously, what do you say when your wife says that? me, i just went to bed and made sure i woke up and played ncaa 09 at 8 am.

to me, it seemed like both sides of the ball either didn't want to show a whole lot, or didn't have a whole lot to show scheme and play wise. i don't buy the issues in the run game. they did sell out to stop the run and have gans beat them with his arm. also knew what was coming thirid and early fourth. joe has to make better decisions, both passing and in the zone read. several times he could have held onto the ball and got us some better situations. defensively, the run was good up front, but the lack of depth on the d-line showed when we couldn't get a push in pass rush at the end of the third/start of fourth. cody glenn was green out there, but great game for someone in his first action defensively in college. safeties were too lazy sometimes in coverage, but overall not too bad. the one thing here is that this defense still has mental issues that will have to work themselves out through the season. there was better energy, there was better in-game adjustments. this game could have turned into ball state easily. i do wish we would have played more people, but it works out in the end. we will have two more games before a real test to work everything out.

was driving across town tonight, went to look for game on sirius, but nothing found.... went to huskers.com, and they advertised it being on there. anyone any ideas? (it's the main reason i went with sirius instead of xm, but it's moot in a month or so now)

i still love gregg williams from washington. he has one of the best defenses in the last three years for the redskins. yes, he didn't do well in buffalo, but who has since marv levy has been gone? he fits the carroll mold to a t.

i like will muschamp. he has saved tuberville's backside for the last three years. peterson has too much money coming in i'm not sold on brian kelly yet. he got a lot of good players from d'antonio. we'll see on him in about three years. the reason i picked neuheisel is that he's a good offensive mind, gets the tradition of nebraska football, and can actually recruit well. yes, he f-ed up with the basketball pool. hopefully he would have learned by now. another couple of names.... joker phillps (kentucky genius that has taken that offense from doormat to studs) jimbo fischer (another great coach that has learned from greats)

What about Al Saunders redskins oc has had success with stl and kc in the nfl love the offense that he runs but we would need a great dc becuse with that offense the defense is on the field a lot he's already said no to pederson once before, what makes you think he's going to change his mind?

this is for your list for next hc here, if callahan does indeed get fired. pelini isn't coming back, so be realistic. my list = turner gill (although he may be bitter with pederson) josh mcdaniels, oc of new england (may be too young-31 years old) norm chow (would jump on being a hc somewhere, even in college) jim leavett of usf (although if they make the bcs, they will have enough to pay him) gregg williams, redskins dc (would be great in college, ala pete carroll) rick neushisal (would LOVE to get revenge on colorado, wants to be a hc again, and loves college game) anyone you want to add?
