  1. Season's end.......I think you meant season's beginning. Don't count out Glenn.
  2. Heck yeah! I'm ready to see Glenn rock somebody's world and SOON!
  3. I'm excited for Cody. As someone mentioned in a post above, yes UT and Mack Brown recruited Cody hard in high school but ONLY for the linebacker spot. He was one of their top 3 prospects on their "entire board" for the linebacker position. At the time, Cody was very focused on the running back position and insisted on pursuing the chance to play RB in college. Once UT realized how serious and intent he was on trying to play RB in college, then they backed off of him. For those of us down here in Texas, it sure makes me wonder what could have been............. Anyway, that is water under the bridge. My money is on Cody adding some real value to the Husker defense at the linebacker spot.
  4. Attending my first Husker home game on Saturday. Sure am looking forward to it. I am going to get my routine down this weekend before the mid-September USC game arrives.
  5. BUT, with a free American Airlines flight up there and a free hotel stay, I guess it balances out some. OK, I did have to pay 15 bucks a day for the rental car!!
  6. Huskervi, You did better than I did. I paid $219. But hey, I will be there. WAY UP THERE!! Go Huskers!!
  7. Yeah, I have my fingers crossed that Glenn can stay healthy this year (not even counting the fact that I am traveling to Huskerland this season from Dallas for 3 different home games). And yes, I am "one of those guys" that actually bought one of those "high-priced" USC tickets. By the way, my credit card is still on fire from that transaction! Don't expect Glenn to have greatly modified his running style. He really only knows one way and that is an aggressive, in-your-face punishing style of running. I don't see Jordan or Callahan convincing Glenn otherwise. I've been watching the C-Train since the 9th grade and no one has convinced him otherwise yet. Let's roll C-Train!! Go Huskers!!
  8. Nice article. The C-Train is going to be ready to bust loose starting September 1st. Can't wait. The 1-2 punch of Lucky and Glenn should be a real handful for the Nevada defense.
  9. Cody is doing well and is having a good summer working out with the guys in the 7-on-7. His foot situation has gotten better and he has been running well, but he will at times have a little bit of pain associated with it in the evenings after running on it a good bit. I fully expect him to be primed and ready to go for fall camp and the season. I am expecting a big season from both Lucky and the C-Train.
  10. Thanks for posting, Eric. As an addition, it's good to hear that Lucky and Glenn are doing well in their 7-on-7 drills. Sure would like to see Callahan and Watson use some offensive sets this season where we can see both Lucky and Glenn together in the backfield at the same time. Maybe a nice little treat for those Trojans from out West? Let's roll C-Train!!
  11. StuckIn - I'm glad the Huskers got Castille too. Stop trying to get away from the main point. Your broad and sweeping generalizations get very tiresome when the factual information that we all have to work with keeps telling a different story from the one you have painted numerous times, just on this one thread. Let me just put it this way - I trust the timers at a Texas A&M combine and a Baylor combine more than I trust your eyes from watching a few pieces of film. I played football in the same state as Castille and have seen more 5A games in person here in Texas in the last 20 years than you could probably count. I expect Castille to do great things at Nebraska...just get your facts straight, it's that simple!!
  12. Hey StuckIn - maybe you're "stuckin" the wrong stats. I expect a lot of great things from Castille and have high hopes for him at Nebraska. Just wanted to point out after StuckIn confidently stated that Castille and Glenn have basically the same exact speed that Castille's workout at the 2006 Baylor Scout.com combine in Waco sure paints a different picture. Castille was timed that day at 4.82 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Yes, he was carrying around 242 pounds that day. Glenn was in the 220s when he ran at the Texas A&M combine back in high school but his time that day was clocked at 4.62. Glenn also finished #1 among all running backs that day in the strength contests. I'm not stating either guy will win any track contests in the near future, but saying that Castille and Glenn would finish in a dead heat in a speed race is just pure fabrication. Finally to StuckIn - I think it's time that you start to get "stuckin" some accurate information.
  13. When Glenn first arrived on campus, I kind of hoped initially that he would get up to 235 or 245 and the staff would use him as one heck of a bowling ball. I can understand now though why he would like to get in the low 220s range. I expect him to show the coaches that he can handle a more varied workload. Plus, in the very back of his mind I know he dreams of one day playing in the NFL and it would likely make him more marketable to more teams being able to do so many different things from the running back spot. Cody needs to continue honing his skills but the ability is definitely there. I spoke to one of his old high school quarterbacks a couple of months back and he said Cody can catch the ball fine although the Husker Nation doesn't know that yet. I've noticed that there are still many people on this board who are Cody doubters. He has been an underdog before and I know people doubting him and what he can do will only motivate him to work harder. All the years I have been watching him - I'm sure not planning on betting against him. Go C-Train!!
  14. Bigrediowan - I agree with your assessment. Right now, heading into next season those percentages seem about right. No question right now that Lucky has the best handle on the offense. Of the "big three" right now, he has been used the most in a variety of different ways. To me, what will be so interesting this spring and into summer workouts will be can Glenn and Wilson close the gap somewhat. Will Glenn develop into a serious all-around threat? I think he will. Will Wilson take the next step? I think he's got a great shot. It's going to be an exciting spring and summer. I can't wait to see how "THE BIG THREE" continue to develop.
  15. I wish BJax the best at the next level. He certainly showed this year that he is quite talented and a hard worker. This is going to be a big spring obviously for Lucky, Glenn, and Wilson. I hope the coaches now can work with Cody and help develop his skills more and use him more than just primarily short yardage. Lucky really came on this year but we still will need other guys to help with the season long running back workload. I know Cody is determined to work hard to improve his overall skill level and is ready to take on more responsibility in the offense. Nice opportunity for Wilson too to get more reps. We just need these guys to heal up and get ready for an active spring. I'm already excited about the Spring Game. Lucky, Glenn, Wilson - should make for an exciting spring.
  16. Sure hope the C-Train gets to tote the rock down here in Big D. It would be a nice surprise.
  17. DJR, I thought you supported all of the backs equally. Sure was surprised to see your slam there regarding one of the backs. I guess we have about wrapped this up. Later
  18. Sure, Wild Bill. Heck, I'll even give ol' C-Train my best golf clap........tap tap tap. I have already watched the game over again 3 times and I've watched the 4th quarter at least a few more times than that. Absolutely loved that final 'Husker drive. Jackson was great and I almost raised the roof the first time I saw several of C-Train's final runs. Can't wait to get home from work so I can see the C-Train run over some more people in that 4th quarter. Tip of the hat too to the offensive line and the studly performance by BJax. Fellas, we're deep in the heart of Big 12 play. This isn't Troy anymore! We need the backs in there that can give us the Yards After Contact. This isn't a beauty contest. Play the backs that aren't consistently going down on the first hit (DJR knows who I am talking about)!! Let's roll C-Train!! Let's roll B-Train????!!! (Who knows, just went it)
  19. DJR, I was just having some fun with you. RELAX! You threw it in my face after Lucky's big game against Troy and he did have a great game. You were what quoting my old posts about Lucky and questioning me then. I'm simply responding back to you about Glenn as you did to me about Lucky after he went for 156.
  20. Coach Kevin - You make an excellent point about YAC. Doesn't matter much when you're playing Troy but it sure does matter in Big 12 play. YAC will continue to be very important as the conference season gets further along. If you are consistently going down on the first hit, that's not going to get it done when you're trying to take the North and win the Big 12 too. Great track speed sure is nice...but I'll take solid speed and someone that consistently gives the offense some good YAC. Let's roll C-Train!!
  21. Preach it, Coach Hassell. The "secret" is out now nationally. They can't hide it anymore or conceal it or downplay it. The word is out. C-Train is a SERIOUS baller whose game and skill set is built very well for Big 12 play. He was FINALLY cut loose last night. Give the staff credit for showcasing both BJax(great performance) and Baby Earl. Let's roll C-Train!! Hey Coach - Let's declare the courthouse lawn off limits for the rest of the season!
  22. Hey DJR, What's up man? I was trying to call you last night to ask where Lucky was but an operator's voice kept coming on the line that said that number is temporarily unavailable. I'm just teasin' you, man. I think Lucky is a solid player. BJax, way to go! You were awesome last night. And then there's the C-Train....aka the "Chevy" man! Any questions?
  23. Great game for the rushing attack last night. Lucky looked really good in particular. Guess he used my comments about him as motivation! Just kidding. Hope the running backs can continue to put up stellar numbers like last night because the competition should be stiffer going forward. Last night's game should help get the bitter taste of the 'SC game out of their mouths. Now on to the Jayhawks!
  24. I hear ya Coach Hassell. We know what Cody can do. Let's show 'em C-Train! Let's hope for a good game for all the backs and the entire Husker team. Well, I'm off to the sports bar so I'll have plenty of time to get a good seat to watch tonight's game on PPV. Gotta love that no cover charge and waitresses bringing you food and beverages throughout the game. Sure hope there will be some cuties working tonight. Go Huskers!
  25. Coach Hassell, It looks like this writer is ready to put your suggestion regarding Glenn to the real test. It's time to decide - will Hassell be kissing butts anytime soon? I don't expect Glenn to let you down. Whether you like Glenn or not, this sounds like a reasonable strategy for attacking Troy. Husker to Watch: Cody Glenn BY STEVEN M. SIPPLE / Lincoln Journal Star Friday, Sep 22, 2006 - 11:36:59 pm CDT No. 34 Cody Glenn, 6-0, 230, I-back Let’s see. Troy has a relatively small but quick defense, and its starting middle linebacker is out with an injury. Florida State had trouble running around the edges against the Trojans. So, NU might try to attack on the ground between the tackles today. That could mean significant action for Glenn, the biggest and strongest of the four I-backs. As was the case last week against Southern California, it might make sense for Nebraska to again feature its running game to help chew up time and keep Troy’s spread offense off the field. Although Glenn received no carries against USC, look for him to be a factor today. Nebraska coach Bill Callahan said Husker coaches remain confident in Glenn, who had carried 24 times for 135 yards and three touchdowns in the first two games. After averaging 80 plays in the first two games, Nebraska ran only 53 against USC — which helps explain why Glenn didn’t receive any carries, Callahan said. Glenn said he plans to keep pushing hard in practice. “I work hard every time we’re out here,” he said. “I never take a play off. That’s not me. I’m going to continue to practice the way I practice, and whatever happens, happens.”
