I don't remember the last time I feel like I can say the Huskers 'outcoached' someone. It's probably not that far, but, the distance in yards from the last few games is blinding I suppose. I feel a bit like NU has become a team with a HUGE target on its back because of the big losses, such that everyone thinks they have a chance to 'embarass' them, if they scheme it right.

Why there hasn't been an alternate scheme to at least rotate to when there are more mobile quarterbacks, I don't know. I think my biggest defensive concern, although I will have to rewatch the game (any ideas?), is the presence up the middle and the LBs. (as far as 'the kids' go). Scheme wise, idk. 600 yards.

- Just because you are playing a team that has lost 13 in a row doesn't mean you can mail it in. Always keep in mind the B1G championship and the BCS bowles - even the national championship. It isn't even a matter of what happened, it's a matter of how are you going to process the experience and use it to play at a national championship level. I like the nature behind this thread. There is an inertia that the Huskers have that won't be changed in one performance, positively or negatively. But the season is y/ours to be decided. I want to hear more people talking about that national championship, to be honest. I don't care if that style of play was there or not (against Wyomin). My biggest gripe aboute everything remains to be the lack of poise / swagger / dead-set expectation. IDK where it's going to come from, but that's what I want to see. And not just because we are winning games later in the year and 'somehow' get to the B1G championship game. It has to be there NOW, yesterday, since the summer. It shouldn't even just be 602 years is pathetic, or 602 means we have a lot to clean up. It should be 602 yards is not going to win us the NC - but we can see the road we need to go down so that in January we are where we want to be. January 6 is what it's about. You are one step closer to that goal as of today. Keep moving forward.

I think the problem with this defense/scheme is also that if there is some sort of a momentous impact, the confidence level plummets. What's more, with everyone running around trying to man or find their person to key on, it makes the defense very reactive and non-aggressive. It becomes 'taking what the offense gives you', which is backwards at best. Maybe the front four will generate pressure more so on their own over time, but, there has to be a sense of aggression, and I don't really remember what that looks like. I'm sure this was designed to be more vanilla of an effort - even on both sides of the ball - but still... It will be nice to see the defense show up against talent.

Already a big prominent showing of Bo yelling at players on ESPN, the longest cutscene going into the break after TD. Geez. Also I long for the day that NU can come out in a big game and play with authority. I'm sorry to expect a rattled team for the next 14 minutes of play..

So IDK where else to put this, but I'm watching the 1987 Sugar Bowl against LSU Tom is cool because he wore swaggin red pants on the sidelines. Damn. ANd, our rush offense is ranked better nationally this year than in that sugar bowl year. . .
