  1. Purify is a beast and will be all conference this year, Nunn is good but he's still not consistent enough to be a 3rd down option IMO... I wish he were more consistent and I wish we had one more Z receiver able to back him up as I'd LOVE to see Peterson move to TE and really open this thing up.
  2. Um NU and USC won't be undefeated going into this game?! Do you think USC is going to lose to Idaho or something? There's no way we lose at Wake. You are nuts my friend.
  3. According to several sites the bucs have picked Taylor up.
  4. Good for Stu, bad for me as I hate the Eagles.
  5. Actually Cincinatti does have some pretty good facilities, not on NU's level but better than many other teams. Their varsity village is really well laid out and really good looking, they have a pretty good locker room a really big weight room, though not filled with top of the line equipment, and they are one of few teams with a full medical imaging center on site.
  6. The draft special on NFL network last night had Carriker going to St. Louis. They said he has the potential to be really good but he isn't a top 10 pick because they don't think he can be an every down player... Someone explain to me how he's not an every down player, he ate up double teams every game for two years, is great against the run and better than he was able to show in our scheme against the pass.
  7. I don't like the fact where he said we compare dead equally with Missouri when asked about how they compare to one another, yes he's just being politically correct but he has to at least acknowledge that there is a massive difference in fan involvement and facilities between the two.
  8. The SEC has LSU, Florida, Auburn Arkansas, Tennessee and Georgia in the top 20 and has Bama and South Carolina on the rise and decent teams at the bottom as well and are clearly the top conference. The Pac 10 has USC and Cal in the top 20 but Oregon, Oregon State and UCLA can play with anyone and other than Stanford the 3rd tier can compete with almost any 2nd and 3rd tier team in the country. The Big 12 has Texas, OU and NU in the top 20 and the next tier teams of Missouri, A&M and OSU are at or better than most other second tier teams in other conferences KSU is decent but Colorado, Baylor, Kansas and Iowa State are very mediocre. The ACC only has VT in the top 20, which in my opinion isn't enough. Georga Tech deserves to be in there as well and BC, Wake Maryland, Virginia and Clemson are all quality teams, FSU and Miami are still decent and should be competitive again quickly, however the bottom tier is really weak. I put them higher than the Big 10 just for the simple fact that, other than FSU and Miami last season, for the most part these teams seem to perform at or above where they should whereas the Big 10 teams seem to constantly under perform. The Big 10 with OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin and Penn State in the top 20 with Iowa and Minnesota in the 2nd tier, Purdue and Indiana have some talent however the back end is VERY weak. The Big East has Louisville, West Virginia and Rutgers in the top 20, but there really is nothing else in the conference.
  9. He's listed on Huskers.com as a DB, but he seems like a taller Demorrio Williams , I'd assume the coaches will have him bulk up to about 130 and use him similar to Demorrio and what Coz seems to be doing with Octo now, playing them at OLB most of the time and moving them to DE on obvious passing situations to get more speed off the edge.
  10. Are we looking at this kid as a WR or as a DB? Looks to me from his stat line that he likes to hit.
  11. On Around the Horn today Tim Cowlishaw made a comment that he spoke to a Big 12 assistant coach today (Didn't drop a name) about the rule and the Assistant coach said that the rule will possibly make more players stay closer to home as coaches have been using text messaging to get closer to players across the country and make them feel more secure when deciding to go to schools that aren't close to home.
  12. If I had to estimate the ACTUAL attendance and not just the reported attendance that had many demographic discrepancies, I'd say there were around 62,000 fans at the game. Which after a five loss season and with the weather changes and the fact that some people could get it on TV, thats a damn big number for a practice. I can't wait to see the attendance when we win 10-11 games, get to a BCS game and have great weather in the forecast.
  13. I may be an idiot but I don't follow basketball as closely as I do football, does this kid have any relations to the similarly named, soon to be NFL bound defensive tackle?
  14. Good for him. The only part about him doing this is that now I'm gonna have to find a new defensive captain for next year's madden franchise. Guess its time for Vandy to step up and be a leader.
  15. With the way Ganz looks thus far he and Lee will have a heck of a battle next off season. Witt may be at least a year or two away but the future looks bright. Now if we get a top QB either this year or next we should be set for quite a while.
  16. I've always said the draft version of the springgame is worthless, I'd much rather have the #1 O-Line working as one protecting the #1 QB who is calling audibles and shifts along with the 1st team Defense relaying changes and cadence to each other in front of 60,000 fans than having a bunch of players playing out of position or playing between depths due to uneven drafts that can turn out to be nothing more than popularity contests. Whether the 1's play the 1's or not doesn't matter much for the spring game, what matters is doing what you have done in practice in front of thousands of screaming fans. Spring football isn't about being the best at your position right now, it's about having a bit of fun and getting pumped up for the upcoming summer training camp where players work their hardest they have all off season and coaches figure out who will be the best starters this fall.
  17. Swift will not be forgotten he understands where he needs to be, he's consistent and he's willing to take a hit and make the play. Frantz Hardy on the otherhand is none of those things and in my opinion should never be on the field in meaningful situations. Nunn is serviceable but not always doing the right thing or playing at full speed... the only thing out of the receiving corps I saw today is that the Z's need some help.
  18. From all accounts Keller will start this year but I was tremendously impressed with Ganz out there and if he ends up being our starter next year we'll be in good shape, if not it means one of the younger guys stepped up, which means we will be in good shape. Either way we got ourselves some damn fine QB's
  19. “I like Nebraska.” This quote right here scares me, that sounds more like "yeah they'll do for now unless a school I Really like comes along", more than "I want to be a Husker."
  20. ESPN Sucks, we're Nebraska we are good enough that we get to play on the NFL network.
  21. I don't care how many QB's we have or if he's the "perfect fit", I'd love to get this kid just because it means so much for Missouri to have a top prospect like that in their own backyard and having him end up wearing Scarlett and Cream.
  22. It's not really a matter of supplanting Lucky, the fact is that Lucky is simply not an every down back who's going to pound the rock 30 times a game. Therefore you have to have a complimentary back that can go in when Lucky needs a break or when we need those tough yards on third and short that a back like Lucky isn't likely to get. Right now there are lingering doubts about Cody's health and its clear that though Mendoza has tons of talent he doesn't have enough of a grasp on the play book to be ready right now, therefore we have to have another option in there now just incase... what would we all be saying this fall if Cody can't go, Mendoza isn't ready and the staff hadn't prepared for the worst case scenario that would allow us to give Lucky a break? Would it be best if that option could come from a backup who wouldn't have Culbert's impact on defense, of course but apparently the coaches are more confident that other members of the team have a better chance of filling the defensive gap than someone else would have filling the running back one.
  23. Yeah but that was by design, Callahan more than likely knew Blake was leaving at the end of the year and therefore shifted him away from recruiting. But he was by far our best recruiter the previous year bringing in some of our top talent, he did bring in both Brandon Jackson and Marlon Lucky. as well as Ola, Jones and a few others. Even on limited recruiting he brought in Townsend and Barfield before he left. Wags so far has done a great job this year bringing in some stud talent, however they are all home grown boys and most are also playing his specific position. I'd say he were up there with Watson or maybe even Busch if he had gotten a Missouri Kid or an Iowa kid away from the Irish and not a Nebraska kid, or if he can recruit a top player from another state that plays a position other than Offensive Line. Until than he's a solid recruiter for us but not a great one.... however if he pulls in the Missouri trio... than it's a brand new story.
  24. Yeah they said that last year too. And yet that trophy you get for finishing #1 is all the way at the other end of the country.
  25. One thing I've been wondering is if we practice too hard, we always seem to have a TON of injuries leading up to the spring game and there was a quote by Sean Payton that Callahan runs the closest thing to a pro practice he's seen at a college program. The fact is most college players don't come into winter conditioning or spring practice in top shape and unlike the pro's we don't have a large free agent pool to replace these guys with when they get hurt before the season starts. Is this something to look into or am I an idiot because practice is supposed to be this tough during spring?
