  1. Jones didn't know what a seam route is? What kind of horrible offense did he play in HighSchool and JUCO? Any 8 year old that plays Madden knows what a seam route is for god sakes.
  2. Does NU really deserve it at this point? Do UCLA and kentucky deserve more than NU? ND? I mean come on. No we are not top 15, but we are certianly justified to be at least 20-25 Both of those teams won their bowl games. Kentucky beat Clemson by 8 points and Clemson is not ranked according to Dodd, UCLA got rocked 44-27 by Florida State who is ranked 24th By Dodd, Nebraska lost by a field goal and had a chance to win the game in the final seconds to Auburn, who Dodd has ranked 11th... which of those three deserve to be ranked again?
  3. Theres some great stuff in those quotes, The only quote in there I wasn't too fond of was when Sam was talking about throwing the pick in the USC game. As a QB, It's never good to call a team you just lost to lucky, it's ok to say you were unlucky and that some of the breaks didn't go your way but NEVER say they got the breaks and that they got lucky. EVER... especially when that team is undefeated, playing for championships on a consistent basis and more than likely going to be staring you down the next season.
  4. Oh please, if I'm sitting there clearly waiting for a parking spot and some joker swerves in and steals it I'd be pretty pissed off and cussing up a storm as well, this isn't some sign of things to come, heck its not even news.
  5. If you weren't obsessed you wouldn't be a Husker fan... well you could be a Buffs fan but than you'd be an idiot who's obsessed with NU.
  6. this is the greatest thing I've seen on here in months. Thank you, and you owe me a soda to replace the one that is now all over my keyboard.
  7. Dumas was on the team during the '94-'95 season as he was drafted by the Chiefs in the 3rd round of the '95 draft. - he could have graduated early though?
  8. Man having Ruud on there all alone makes me long for the old days when our entire D-Line and half the O-Line were on these things. Also won't Ruud's new position in the defensive scheme only help him as he will be in better position to get behind the LOS?
  9. IIRC Dumas was on the Las Vegas team for the XFL, after that I lost track of him.. is he still playing in AFL, NFL Europe or the CFL?
  10. Lil' Red isn't even technically our mascot, he's just an inflatable character for the kids and for indoor events. Herbie is the official mascot of the Nebraska Cornhuskers... and Herbie Owns.
  11. ESPN has him going 11th to the Niners, 11-14 is now the general location most so called "experts" are putting him.
  12. Too bad we didn't do THAT on television. Would have been nice to see unlike the performance they put together Thursday.
  13. ^ those are the two I was alluding two, even as a diehard husker fan its clear Gaines Adams is better than Carriker no matter what scheme they are best suited for but you could make a case for Anderson or Carriker to be 2nd depending on the defensive system of a particular team. But to say someone like Jarvis Moss or the Moses kid from Georgia is better than Carriker is laughable, because they just aren't.
  14. Zac may end up as a pretty decent backup QB for a couple years and may end up getting a starting job if things line up perfectly - like they did for Tom Brady who also was a guy who was said to have a great mind for the game but not the talent. Whatever Zac does in the pros, I'd love to see him on the staff at NU after his career is over. Also listing Carriker as the 5th best DE is laughable. There is one end better than Carriker, and you could make a case for 2 but there's no way he's not 3rd at worst.
  15. It's nice to know we actually DID have an Option Pass in the playbook, would have been nicer if we actually used it once in a while though.
  16. Are you afraid of upsetting the Football Gods by some of us dreaming BIG? Dude, the Football gods love Nebraska, its just the self important, self proclaimed Demi-gods at ESPN and the mindless minions that follow them that don't.
  17. I was really excited about how the Seahawks would do with two great DE's this year with Wistrom and Kerney... oh well, I'm not a Seahawks fan so maybe they planned this when they signed Kerney... I do think he ends up on a team though, even with a pretty good draft for D-Ends theres plenty of teams that could use a veteran at the position. I could see him in Tampa.. they seem to like our boys and don't look to be in position to get a top end in the draft.
  18. I'm not worried about Keller at all, he will be protected. Its the flukes like the Bowman injury last year that worry me. I don't even want to think about what the season would be like if Bowman goes back down or if Purify goes down before the season. As far as ESPN, I guess after their golden children (Notre Dame and USC) kinda made em look like idiots last year, they decided that if they jump on their redheaded stepchild's bandwagon this year they might gain some credibility back with the "Smart" sports fans that are able to look past the gold helmets and hollywood groupies and notice that the media darlings aren't as great as ESPN wants them to be.
  19. This season had alot of both B and C in it. If you would have asked me before the season if we would have 17 wins at the end of the year I would have laughed at you, but once we were doing well and were within reach of the NCAA tournament the losses to Iowa State, Colorado and Okie Light tonight actually stung. Its a great building point for the future but it would have been nice to win at least two more games at the end.
  20. Okie looks like they want to get some revenge. We need to do something early to swing the game and take away that fire or we could be in trouble.
  21. Linebackers are clearly one of our most important needs but I think Cornerback is the Biggest need. Bowman, Grixby and Jones are all seniors and from what last year made it clear none of the young guys were ready to step up. We are probably going to need at least one top JUCO CB again and we MUST start getting the top Highschool CB's to actually show up in Lincoln or it won't matter how good the DLine and Linebackers we get are.
  22. Its great the talking heads are talking about us as a contender but until we get through the spring and summer training without any major incidents its meaningless. If they are still saying these things in August than a lot more people will take notice. - Of course I'm still in cautious optimism mode after last year as we were saying most of these same great things last year right before spring and an injury or two later and we were taken down more than a peg. (and thats not a Grixby joke.. though it probably could be )
  23. Hmm I don't know anything about a suicide attempt. Last I heard he was in the hospital due to an extreme allergic reaction to IBProfrin. Course I didn't get it first hand so I could be wrong.. but it wasn't a suicide attempt, that has been confirmed as has it having nothing to do with alcohol or any illicit or illegal substances.
  24. I think its definitely needed. not only from the coaches perspective but from the athlete's perspective as well. Most recruits who verbal early do so to try to avoid the drawn out recruiting process in an attempt to focus on their senior year of High School without a lot of distractions. Which is almost impossible for them to do now because as soon as they give their verbal commitment they are bombarded with even more attention from other schools. An early signing day would allow the athletes that haven't made a decision to still go through the normal recruiting program, but give those who have the freedom to get their college selection over with and focus on their last year of High School.
