  1. Player: Vachel Samuels Hometown: Lynwood, CA Position: DB Height: 6'0" Weight: 190 lbs. 40 time: 4.44 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Cal, Stanford, Oregon, Washington State, Arizona State, Boise State Favorites: Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: ESPN evaluation says "Samuels is a fine looking athlete with good physical skills as a defensive back prospect for a college program to mold. He is tall, athletically-built but still very lean and has much physical developing to do. Played corner in most of the game films we viewed but his hips, turns and overall fluidity are more suited at safety. Covers a lot of ground with his long stride and good acceleration; displays good range on both run and pass support." More here: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...26season%3d2009 Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 15%. Let's see if he visits as we would differentiate from a lot of the Pac 10 schools recruiting him.
  2. Player: Joshua Brown Hometown: Lancaster, TX Position: CB Height: 6'0" Weight: 173 lbs. 40 time: 4.45 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska Favorites: Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: Solid DB prospect. Scout has his weight at 188 but no 40 time listed. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 20%. We are recruiting his HS hard. 8. From Husker Journal. I think the odds of him becoming a Cornhusker have to be pretty good. He says it is between us and Wisconsin. JUNE 25, 2008. PREP STAR BRENT QVALE, OL, 6-7, 300, 5.1, WILLISTON, NORTH DAKOTA Brent has offers from Nebraska, Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Montana and Montana State. “I liked Nebraska’s camp a lot.” said Qvale, “Coach Pelini offered me on the spot in his office.” “Coach Cotton (Nebraska) didn’t say if I could play early but they would see how it would work out. Coach Cotton was excited about me and wanted me to come. Barney e-mails me two or three times a week just to see how things are going. He came to my state track meet and saw me. Coach Cotton talked to my coach at the meet about me.” he said “I talked to a lot of players at Nebraska and they are excited about the season.” said Qvale, “Some players feel they have a chance to have a good season.” “I talked to Joe Ganz from Chicago.” he said, “He told me he (Ganz) really likes Nebraska. Joe lives away from Nebraska but he said you get use to it. No matter where I go, it’s going to be far away. I’m (Williston) twenty miles east of Montana.” “Nebraska coaches knew about me through the Internet and some people told them about me.” said Qvale “It would be exciting to be a part of a program that will be on the rise. Just to be in one of the classes that started it. I like Nebraska they have great tradition. Their weight room was awesome it’s the best one I’ve seen. Everything is new.” said Qvale “I went to Iowa State one day camp and they offered me there.” he said, “Iowa State is really interested in me. Iowa State’s program is good but it doesn’t compare to Nebraska and Wisconsin.” “I was suppose to visit Iowa but with all the flooding I stayed home.” said Qvale, “I will try to make it up there end of summer or for an official visit this fall.” “Wisconsin offered me at camp. I liked it there a lot I felt comfortable there. I like the program a lot and Wisconsin facilities are very good.” he said, “Coach Bielema didn’t ask for a commitment, he just told me to go home with my family and make a decision when that time comes.” “I like Wisconsin they have been successful the last 10 to 15 years. They play in a great conference.” “We drove around Madison.” Said Qvale, “The streets are confusing none of them seem straight. The campus is real nice. Madison is a laid back city.” “Right now I will take three official visits to Nebraska, Wisconsin and Iowa. Nebraska and Wisconsin are my top two schools.”
  9. Latest from Husker Journal. We will compete against Florida but I don't think he sounds too excited with the FL schools...I would like to see us get after this guy...likes to play in blitz packages and seems to have future Blackshirt potential. Has offers now from Nebraska, Arkansas, Boston College, Iowa, Kentucky, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Purdue, Florida, South Florida, Stanford, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Florida St., Central Florida and Duke. USC in the article below is apparently South Carolina and not Southern Cal. JUNE 22, 2008. PREP STAR MIKE MARRY, LB, 6-3, 210, 4.6, LARGO, FLORIDA Mike has offers from USC, Nebraska, Florida, Stanford, Arkansas, Florida State, Stanford and others. “I might visit USC.” Said Marry, “I like the coaching staff there. USC said I could play early but could not guarantee it.” “I will try to visit Nebraska this fall.” he said, “They send me letters. I do like how Nebraska runs the program. I like Bo Pelini. My coach use to go to Nebraska (as a student).” “I like to play linebacker where I move around a lot. Use in blitz packages. All the schools recruiting me use the linebackers the same way. I don’t have a favorite school right now. I will narrow it down soon.” said Marry “I didn’t make it to any Junior Day’s this year. I might go to Florida and Central Florida summer camps.” he said. “I’ve been to Florida before.” said Marry, “I saw the Florida and Florida State game last year. I like the coaching staff at Florida, how they treat their players, take care of them.” “I like everything there is at Florida. Gainesville is only a couple hours away. Florida coaches said I could play early too.” he said “I don’t know too much about Florida State. I haven’t heard much from them lately.”

I like the atmosphere from what I see on the Internet. I really like Coach Kiesau I call him now and then.” he said “I like to check out Oregon.” said Diante, “I’ve seen on the Internet their facilities are great, but they don’t win games it’s more than that. Oregon coaches said I can play early but all schools say that, you have to earn a spot.” said Diante “I want to take all five visits. Check everything out, the coaches, the atmosphere.” “I’ve never been out of California so I have no leaders to base anything on. They (Nebraska) have been recruiting me for a month or two.” said Diante “Coach Gilmore said I had a chance to play early too. I like Nebraska’s tradition, its big time football. The coaching staff is really good. I probably will visit them in the fall.” he said
  11. Green could really get this class rolling. My top targets right now would have to be Green, Oku, and Gabe Lynn. That would be a nice trifecta!
  12. Evaluation now in from ESPN: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...26season%3d2009
  13. Says his leader is Oregon. We are in his top 5. Wants to verbal during his season so there is time if we want to make stronger push for him.
  14. There is already a thread on Pascarella in the main recruiting forum here: http://www.huskerboard.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26619 Mods, please join threads.
  15. Have we offered Travis Hawkins? If not, why? He is a 4-star CB with big-time offers. He has visited Maryland with Ankrah and said he wants to visit Virginia Tech and Tennessee with Ankrah. We should get these guys to visit when we play Virginia Tech.
  16. Dude, if he likes Uconn's weight room, well wait 'til he gets a load of NU's! From Husker Journal: JUNE 10, 2008. PREP STAR JELANI ALFORD, RB, 5-9, 170, 4.5, CINCINNATI (WITHROW), OHIO Jelani has offers from Nebraska, Kent State and Eastern Michigan. “Running backs coach (Nebraska Coach Beck), gave me a verbal offer in April and sent me a written offer in May.” said Ford, “Nebraska coaches said they will get back to me for a visit, but I have not heard back from them. My dad is supposed to contact Nebraska and see what’s going on.” “I would like to make it up there (Nebraska) but it’s so far away. I check out Nebraska on the Internet and the campus looks nice.” he said. “I visited UCONN Junior Day’s and I really liked it a lot. It’s close to home.” said Alford, “I don’t know if they will offer me or not. UCONN has the fifth largest weight room.” “I do hear from North Carolina.” he said.
  17. From Husker Journal: JUNE 9, 2008. PREP STAR TOBIN OPUREM, RB, 6-1, 228, 4.4, PLANO (EAST), TEXAS Tobin has offers from Purdue, Kansas, Nebraska, Tulsa, Rice, Arkansas, Illinois, Arizona State and others. “Kansas and Purdue are recruiting me the hardest. Kansas is probably my favorite right now.” said Opurem, “ I plan on visiting Kansas this summer. If I like it there I might commit.” “Kansas coaches said I could play early. Kansas likes running the ball even though they run the spread.” he said, “They (KU coaches) said I’m a big guy who plays like a little guy. I make plays after contact.” “I still hear from John Papuchis (Nebraska).” said Opurem, “Nebraska got a commitment from Trinity running back (Tray Robinson) and they are still offering me a scholarship. I like Nebraska the running backs catch the ball.” “Some schools are recruiting me as a full back, Nebraska hasn’t said want they want me as. I do prefer playing running back. I will probably make it to Nebraska for a visit this summer.” “I like Purdue I will visit them this summer too. Purdue coaches also said I could play early.” said Opurem, “They have a great engineering school it’s a possibility I will major in engineering.” “I don’t know when I will commit. I like to visit some schools this summer before I make a decision. I like a place where I feel comfortable with the atmosphere.” Opurem went on to say that none of the Texas schools are recruiting him so distance is not a factor. Tobin said he like Wake Forest also. He knows a couple of players at Wake now.
  18. Hey, Don't mean to rain on a parade, but I'd prefer to let people do what they want to do and I think everyone has been doing a great job (otherwise you would hear from ETR ). If you want to drop in images (as long as it is legal), then great...I don't really hassle with this...there are plenty of images if you want to do research on a recruit. As for updating original posts, I tend not to do it. What good is it if I update a guy's post that is buried in the forum and no one cares that he added a star and now has received an offer from Middle Tennessee State? However, I like to add comments to recruits that have good buzz...such as "Recruit X has new offers from USC and LSU and now is a 5-star, etc.". Typically I will update the original posts on these guys but I like to add new comments because then these recruits will get bumped to the top of the forum and they get more buzz and others will tend to comment on the recruits with good buzz and grow the threads on these recruits. Lastly, I noticed ETR likes there to be links which I try to do a good job on when I can. Bottomline for me is that I try to do what I can with the little time I have. Personally, if there are requirements to add images or update posts, then it becomes more like work IMO and I'd likely not contribute as much. The threads tend to take care of themselves...let others contribute by adding images and adding new comments on rankings or new offers, etc....good buzz recruits will have this happen. I don't think this needs fixing as it is not broke and I would say this has been a great recruiting forum we have here.
  19. Hawkins must read this site. CU has offered.
  20. Big 12 north following our lead...recent offers include Colorado, Missouri, Iowa State, and Kansas. Also has offers now from Texas Tech, Florida, and Wisconsin.

I hearing from Oregon, UCLA, Washington, Washington State, Boise State, Wake Forest, Arizona State and USC. “Right now I’m wide open.” said Kerr, “Arizona coaches said I could play early. They (Arizona) said they will take one or two tight ends. Arizona recruiting coordinator is really a nice guy.” “I went to Tucson on an official visit for their spring game. There were a lot of people there, I was surprised. I really like the weather.” he said “Oregon didn’t offer me but it sounded like they will later.” said Kerr, “They (Oregon) have film on me and at first they said I didn’t rank high enough for a scholarship. A (Oregon) junior tight end de-committed and the tight ends coach said he really liked me on film.” “I call Coach Brown (Nebraska) now and then. Coach Brown wants me to call (Bo) Pelini.” he said, “I tried for 1 ½ to 2 weeks but have not got in touch yet.” “Coach Brown came by my school last spring and saw some 7 on 7 for awhile. Coach Brown said he liked my competitive spirit and could see me gain 20 to 30 pounds and still have my athletic ability.” “My dad and I are going to visit Nebraska middle June early July.” said Kerr, “If I like about what I see, it would give me reason to commit. I like Nebraska’s tradition, love the prestige.” “Schools look at my size and say I’m very active. I have potential once I’ve developed as a player.” J T added that he transferred two months ago from Fallbrook High School. Both Fallbrook and Scripps Ranch run the spread offense.
  22. Latest from Husker Journal. JUNE 5, 2008. PREP STAR ORSON CHARLES, TE, 6-3, 216, 4.5, TAMPA (PLANT), FLORIDA “I’m going to LSU this weekend for a one day camp.” said Charles, “I like how LSU uses their tight ends (two tight end set). I like the tight ends coach (Lane). He came by my school this spring. I don’t expect to play early at LSU or any other school I have to earn a spot.” “I like Nebraska coach Beck is recruiting me.” he said, “They want me to make it up to camp I’m not sure if I will. My coach and I will plan out where to go this summer.” “I might go to Nebraska if they are in my top five. I don’t know when I will narrow it down. I want to take my time. I want to know how teams use their tight ends and I want to major in construction engineering.” “I’ve been to Florida State once and I liked it.” said Charles, “I really liked the Florida State’s tight end coach (Coley). He coached the tight ends for the Miami Dolphins. Coach Coley can coach up his players.” “I want to visit USC this summer.” he said, “I want to see the athletes there. I hope to get an offer from them. USC is everybody’s dream school, the big boys.” “USC coaches said I’m fast for my size and can gain weight. Some schools are recruiting me as an H-Back. USC said I remind them of tight end Fred Davis that was taken in the second round.” “Oklahoma didn’t offer me right away they saw all my Florida offers and thought they didn’t have a chance, but once Oklahoma knew I was wide open they started to recruit me.” said Charles. “Oklahoma coach Wilson said they are losing the top two junior tight ends next year and I have a chance to earn a spot. Coach Wilson said he will send me some academic stuff. I definitely like to visit them (Oklahoma) this summer. Oklahoma is always in contention.” “I like Michigan I would like to make it to their camp.” said Charles, “Michigan sends a lot of players to the NFL. I definitely like to look into them, see what their (Michigan) staff is like.”
  23. Latest from Husker Journal. JUNE 3, 2008. PREP STAR JEREMIAH SIRLES, OL, 6-6, 280, 5.0, LAKEWOOD (BEAR CREEK), COLORADO Jeremiah was written offers from Kansas State, Nebraska, Louisville, Texas Tech, Arizona State, New Mexico State and Colorado State. Oregon gave Jeremiah a verbal offer and said a written letter will be in the mail. “My top three right now are Oregon, Texas Tech and Louisville.” said Jeremiah “I made it out to Texas Tech with my family. I sat down and had a conversation with Coach Leech in his office for about 30 minutes. He (Coach Leech) said they really like to have me. He said that I would have to redshirt my Freshman year.” said Sirles. “Texas Tech runs the spread offense like most schools I like. Our coaching staff a couple years ago went down to a coach’s clinic at Texas Tech to learn their offense. Our offense at Bear Creek is just like Texas Tech now.” he said “I went to Texas Tech spring game. They have great facilities and the weather is great. I love it there. Texas Tech has one of the highest graduation rates. Lubbock is a small town but the campus is fairly large.” “I like Louisville. I don’t know much about them I check them out on the Internet. I get a lot of letters from them. I tried to connect with them (Louisville coaches) but because of my job it’s hard.” “I will make it to Nebraska this summer.” he said, “My dad wants me to take visits to schools that offered me during the summer and then make official visits based from them.” “Nebraska is close to home.” said Sirles, “It’s not even three or four hours.” “Bo Pelini is a great coach he will definitely turn it around at Nebraska. Bo did a great job at LSU.” he said, “Barney Cotton came by last month he’s a really nice guy.” “Nebraska is a dominate rushing team. My only concern would be run blocking. I’m good at pass blocking. It would be something I would need to improve on. All players have weaknesses.” “All the schools I’m looking at are similar pass first then run. I want to go to a school where the coaching staff is stable. I don’t want to go somewhere where the staff will be gone when I get there.” said Sirles. “I’m going to wedding in Chicago this week-end and I told the Northwestern coaches that I’m coming up.” he said, “The academics at Northwestern are the leader of the pack by far. All schools have good academics but Northwestern is the best.” Jeremiah said he will commit by mid season.
