  1. Link http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting Nothing too new here. I recall he gave his visit high marks, I think a 10. I don't see why we shouldn't expect this guy to be N. Between us and K-State? I don't see ISU competing...
  2. Latest link http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting It's between us and OU....I don't see the other schools listed as having much chance. Says he will wait to make his decision. Would love to see this guy N!
  3. Here's a link with some news on Clay http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting Wisconsin and Ohio St. looks like they will get visits. He does say Nebraska has been impressing him! Would be great if we can get him to visit for gameday vs. Colorado!
  4. Daniel again? First boogergate and now this? Man, this guy had a bad weekend! If it is Daniel, I wonder if any media will pick up on this? Gotta believe there is some sports jock that would want to get a scoop on this for some morning drive wacky show. Kind of like..."and the you thought you were having a bad week award goes to..."
  5. Hey Guy, This one was playing Top 5 threads here last couple of days...someone had posted it rather quickly after the game. Search the rest of the threads from last couple days and you will find it. You are a bit late...but still funny stuff nonetheless! Would expect mods/admin to merge the threads?
  6. Great Big Red win today! Our offense played well but the defense still worries me. Is it normal for fans of other teams to be up by 14 and still worried the other team is going to comeback? In the NFL 14 points is huge but in college it seems like I have seen so many games where opponents comeback. Just wondering if fans of other teams have this issue? I need more confidence in our D...somebody help me...I'm tired of being for all these games! Then again, I guess that is why I love college football!
  7. I think if he was at the game, then the show is going to paint the football program very positively. The show does do some cool things for deserving families. He comes across as a wacky, feel good construction dude that cheers the team on to build these awesome houses in mere days. I don't know about his personal stuff but he seems to be a nice guy in interviews...I don't recall hearing him in any Hollywood tabloid crap or lame political stuff...so hats off to him. If the family are big Nebraska fans, you may see Callahan or some players appear on the show as a surprise (i.e. they bring a signed football to the son or give the dad season seats)...as they do that kind of stuff sometimes. Could be cool.
  8. We have another thread on here asking if this is Cally's biggest game? So, yes, damn straight winning the north will be a great accomplishment this year! Let's face it...we have to start by taking the north if we want to get anywhere. Did anyone else catch that thread on the Mizzou Fan Husker H8ter blogger earlier this week? Thought it was funny how he hated Nebraska and he gave example of how his Husker fan co-workers would put pictures of Scott Frost in his office. All joking aside, he said something about wanting the Mizzou win badly because this game would then be the entry way into college football hell for us. In a sick way, he is somewhat right. If we lose this game, this season suddenly spirals into non-success and this board will meltdown. If we win, then we are through the gate and that much closer to a Big 12 championship shot, which then means were are within reach of the BCS! We have to start on the comeback road somewhere and we need to win the North this year to make our mark...yes, this game is HUGE!
  9. The following is from Wikipedia, interestingly enough. "Rumors and even published reports are circulating that the Michigan State Spartans are very interested in Mariucci as their next football head coach. An MSU Board member has stated publicly that they will not/never hire Steve Mariucci as head coach at MSU. It was announced on November 1, 2006 that John L. Smith will be fired from his head coaching duties at the conclusion of the 2006 season." Linkey http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Mariucci The MSU part is near the bottom
  10. Rivals prospect database shows us in the lead over A&M. Let's get him N!
  11. Rivals prospect database has us in the lead. Looking good.
  12. This is bad news. This weekend's game is going to be huge and if we only have one recruit attending (Witt) then we miss a great opportunity. I can't believe this...this was stacking up to be one of our biggest recruiting days. Are we sure no one other than Witt is coming?
  13. Player: Kenny O'Neal Hometown: San Antonio, TX Position: WR Height: 6’0” Weight:195 40 time: 4.4 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, USC, Cal, Oregon, Minnesota, Tennessee Favorites: Committed to Tennessee Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Bid Red Report: Assessing the talent:http://nebraska.rivals.com/content.asp?cid=598741 Found this to be an interesting link. Initially signed with Florida State out of high school. Anyone know anything else about him? Here's what I found: Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 15% Same college as Mo Purify so that should help us! And also NU commit Zac Lee
  14. My thoughts and feelings on this: 16th in rushing offense 23rd in passing offense 8th in total offense 13th in scoring offense 44th in rushing defense 83rd in passing defense 68th in total defense 30th in scoring defense Yes, the defense is killing us...
  15. According to this article he is not in TX but in CA playing for Taft, a high school which is in Southern CA in the San Fernando Valley...UCLA would be closest school. See link http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting Sounds like we are in the mix for him but we need to do more if we are serious.
  16. Cool. Nice job. Too bad we could not get the W.
  17. Cornhuskers 38 Paper Tigers 20 Run 210 Pass 280 THE NORTH IS OURS!!!
  18. We are getting closer but no doubt this loss was setback. I like what Callahan is doing with the offense...we can see it is starting to work. Recruits are going to want to play in this offense. The WR's are fun to watch. Purify is a great playmaker. Our RB's have been fun to follow as well. BJax and Lucky are fun to watch. ZT has been steady and smart at QB. The offensive line needs to improve and I don't like that we do not have a go-to tight end in this offense as that is a missing piece (Herian is just not the same player he was prior to his injury). Defensively I hear what some are saying that we have been banged up and that hurts (i.e. losing Bowman and Dilliard to injury...Octavien not being 100% the whole year). The jury is still out for me on Cosgrove and Elmassian. The defense seems at times to just lack motivation, in-game adjustments are not happening, poor tackling...I hate to say it but I don't think this defense really intimidates any opponent (I'm talking conference opponents not the LA Tech's and Nicholls of the world). Teams are able to just move the ball too easily on us. We need to re-emphasize defense as I think the more dominant our defense becomes than the quicker we move back into the national picture. With the blackshirts tradition and history of the program we should have an edge...and right now we don't. Glad to see we are going after some stud defensive recruits and hope to see them gel in future as a dominant defensive force. Callahan has a good thing going with this offense. Just remains to be seen if our defense can become consitently good year after year after year. Recruiting should help. The defense can bounce back this week. A loss is one thing where our defense competes (i.e. USC and Texas) but we cannot afford any more meltdowns (Okie St. and KU)...thank God we pulled KU out! Let's dominate Mizzery this week.
  19. Yes, I agree this game is comparable and could argue it hurt worse. Sure, Tx Tech destroyed us that game but everyone knew Tx Tech could bust out like that and we were never in that game. Plus, we already had the cruddy loss earlier vs. So. Miss. that year in Lincoln. Here in today's game we were up 16-0 and then fell apart. Plus, this happens the week after we barely lose to the defending national champions so expectations are high. To put it in perspective, I don't think ANYONE in the contest crib picked OSU. People picked Tx Tech to win in '04. This loss hurt and it is only because Mizzou lost that we have hope. Let's put this behind us and win out!
  20. Of course I'll continue to support the team, never in question. This was such an ugly loss...break-down in all aspects...so people are going to vent big. Gotta believe the kids are down but will use that as motivation to show that they can come back, beat Mizzou, and make this a great season winning the north. Give it 48 hours or so to let the simmer down.
