That's probably the most reasonable post on this subject. We need to get to the "elite" level first, then we're still going to need a year where everything breaks our way. Everybody needs to keep in mind that even with all the resources Mack Brown has, it still took him 8 yrs to get there.

I was at a party in St Joseph MO on Saturday with several MU fans, and they weren't very confident about their chances in Lincoln after seeing how well NU played Texas at home. The Star is just pumping sunshine.

I'll bet Saulbadguy is one of them. I know him from a Chiefs BB, he's pretty ruthless. Funny as hell though.

Considering the fact that we have an imminent L coming next week, we need a win to keep pace with Missouri in the North. To say this game doesn't have title implications is short-sighted.

I'll believe progress has been made when we can beat Texas or Oklahoma and win a Big XII title. Beating a K-State team that's taken a few steps back doesn't prove anything.

I pretty much agree with the thread starter, but my concern is are we making the progress we should be? Stevie P fired Solich because we were "gravitating to mediocrity", and three years in we're still in a dogfight with a basketball school?

I'm not sure "Panic" is the appropriate word to use, I certainly don't think we're going to lose the rest of our games or anything like that, but the north title might be a pipe dream right now. We're going to struggle offensively against any team that has a strong defensive front and teams are going to abuse Grixby all season long.

Bingo! The secondary was lacking depth coming into the season, and the injuries have, and will continue to hamper this defense. One glaring weakness (Sorry Grixby, you're in over your head) can make a whole unit look like crap.

Or maybe the fans were just too used to cupcakes. This is our team right now, so buckle up because it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Let's see...we have a weak offensive line and a disaster of a secondary. Unless the coaches can make these guys into better players than they are, we may have to adjust our expectations for the season.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I didn't respond because I was at the game and there's no internet access in the stands.

Part of the problem is our secondary is so bad that we aren't able to take advantage of our front seven. Blitzing is just too risky, and we can't seem to pressure the QB without doing it. The offense didn't do their part either, they put the D in a bad position a couple times with TO's, and the lack of a running game to eat clock and keep the D off the field didn't help either.

Zac Taylor is the best player on our offense. He's getting crap for protection, no support from the running game and he's still getting it done. I don't think it's fair to criticize him at all. Our o-line still has serious issues.
