  1. Does anyone else know, is there any other football coach that has ever come back to coach his home team that he won a national championship for, in his home state?
  2. So UCF vs SF at 230 pm on ABC, and our game at 3 pm on FS1. Have to watch them both! Get to watch our new coach close out his undefeated season, and watch our old coach do his last NU tunnel walk.
  3. Should be a good game. Players know this is their last game of the season. Coaches know this is their last game at NU. And Iowa is already bowl eligible so maybe they'll just mail it in, ha. Setting up for a great rivalry indeed. Go Big Red!
  4. Honestly, that's exactly what any coach would say. Even if there was a deal that has been worked out, he legally couldn't say anything.
  5. I think I learned some of the players can really play hard and fast when they want to.
  6. Hope that 4th quarter momentum will carry them into the Iowa game. Would love to win against Iowa. Crap season, but if we win against Iowa, it's at least some consolation.
  7. Why couldn't this 4th quarter team today show up last game last week?
  8. Attendance is pathetic. http://collegespun.com/big-ten/nebraska-big-ten/photos-attendance-issues-at-foster-farms-bowl-between-nebraska-and-ucla
  9. Wouldn't a Pinstripe Bowl be better than no bowl at all? Even at 5-7, even if you don't personally agree with it, that's what the rules allow at the the moment. I'm not saying that a 5-7 team deserves to go to a bowl game, but it's more playing time for these kids, more coaching time, and money for the program. And this year, maybe the odds are better than other years that a 5-7 team gets a chance. Even the Pinstripe Bowl would be a high point on a bad season IMO. And with NU's top ranked APR, we might have a shot. Winning against Iowa would be ideal, but we'll take what we can get.
  10. I don't post here a lot, but I do read many of the posts during football season. I haven't seen this discussed yet, or if I did, I may have missed it. If we can still pull out a win against Rutgers, which I think we can based on last night's play, we'd be 5-6. Then assuming a loss to Iowa, we'd be 5-7. There's a real possibility that there won't be 80 teams with at least a .500 record this year to fill the 40 bowl games, so there likely will be be a few teams (handful) that would be bowl eligible at 5-7 to choose from to fill remaining spots. 5-7 teams that get picked for bowl games come from the Top 5 ranked teams by APR, or Academic Progress Rate. Nebraska right now has the highest ranked APR. So, if we get the win against Rutgers, we'd be at the top of the list for bowls to choose from to fill the last remaining spots for bowl games. While it may not be a prestigious bowl, it would still be a bowl game nonetheless, maybe slight salvation for the kids and staff. This article details this scenario for Indiana's chances of making a bowl game, but the same principles apply to Nebraska. http://www.crimsonquarry.com/2015/11/3/9663910/indiana-and-other-college-football-teams-could-make-a-bowl-game-at-5
  11. Check out the Wikipedia page for Jim Tressel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Tressel Seems someone has edited it prematurely.
  12. Ha, cheap seats. Speaking of which, the new seats at the top of east stadium each come with their own oxygen mask.
  13. That was my thought exactly, when Beck was acting like he almost lost his best friend.
  14. This sounds more like a heart attack than the flu. Beck seemed pretty emotional about it.
  15. That's a horribly cheap shot. The A&M player should be suspended for crap like that, watching the video, it's pretty clear that it was intentional.

    Wow!

Almost screwed the pooch on that one.
  17. Wow, I was very worried that half the state was going to have to attend anger management classes this week.
  18. Aren't there actually rules of how long you have to sit out after a verified concussion? I thought I read something like that awhile ago, but can't remember where.
  19. Holy Canaoli, when we stopped them with goal and inches and they had to settle for their field goal, it was so loud and I couldn't even hear myself.
  20. Zac did a solid job. He came in, controlled the game, got a touchdown, and managed to keep the ball for 13 of the 15 minutes of the 4th quarter. Seems good enough to me.
  21. I've been to a few games over the last few years, usually one or two a season, and I have to admit, this was the most insane I've ever seen the crowd. I think on just about every down that Mizzwho did, everyone in the north end zone were yelling. High fives continuously, just an all around good cheering crowd, and man, it was so much fun. I no longer have a voice. Still a few blue hairs that wouldn't cheer if their life depended on it (why do those folks even bother going to a game), but overall, this was the funnest game I've ever been to.
