  1. Well, I'll bump this up and it will turn into a referendum on who believes ESPN's reports.
  2. What in the ever loving world makes you think that subsequent reports by subsequent news entities means that the first report was true. Study how news is cycled in this country. One entity will report it. Then, the others will follow suit. Some have the honesty to say that "ESPN reported...." Most don't even do that. But, rarely, if ever, will you see independant corroboration. And if you think that the news media, ANY of them, don't do this, then you were asleeep for the 2000 presidential election. And also for the 2004 presidential election. I have no idea if the report is true. And neither does ESPN. And, 10 zillion subsequent reports based on the first don't make it any more reliable and certainly does not make it true. If the original premise is faulty, every re-statement of the premise is equally faulty.
  3. The operative words are "what Callahan did". He's gone. Pud is gone. Gill would come back if offered.
  4. Journalism hides behind ethics when they are reporting unreliable rumor as fact. Who the hell cares what a source says. Just the facts ma'am. But then you couldn't get people to watch your "news" show, could you?
  5. 4 media sources means what exactly. Three are probably just repeating what ESPN said. So, four wrongs do NOT make a right. Stupid media. Stupid Stupid
  6. After denying the report, Pelini said: "I honestly don't know where they're getting their information."
  7. I bet you a plugged nickle this isn't right: http://lincolnjournalstar.com/blog/huskers...p;tb=1&pb=1 Reached by phone by the Journal Star, Pelini denied the report and then said: "I honestly don't know where they're getting their information."
  8. Which of the tons of Husker stores in Lincoln does Mike own? Is it a chain? No seriosuly, I moved away like 20 years ago so I don't know.
  9. From what I have been told the regents find out after the contract is signed? So my guess is To knows who he is hiring and probably Nancy, maybe Pearlman. That's it. There are only TWO people that know. TO knows Nancy knows it is NOT TO.
  10. Whoever the new HC is, what kind of reception/support do you think Husker fans will give them? Will the appointment divide the Husker Nation again? Will it be a wait and see attitude? Given the strife raging on the various Husker boards about who is good and who isn't, will we get behind the new coach? I will just because it's the Huksers. I know a lot have said they will support whoever is picked by TO. But I am wondering, if we're so enamored with TO and his legacy, that no matter who is selected, we're in for more years of "XXXXX sucks" Fire XXXX" and that it will start right from the git-go.
  11. Two things: 1) With 3.1 million in seed money, you'd think he get a bigger truck 2) I hope he doesn't plan on getting any business anywhere in Nebraska
  12. We've all havd some fun for a few days with real rumors, fake rumors, and lots of discussion of why we feel it SHOULD be a particular coach, or why it SOULD NOT be a particualr coach plus we give lot of reason why we think that way. We also have a poll for who we WANT. So, now, we know what we THINK SHOULD BE and WANT TO BE. But this is a very simple question. Regardless of anything else, who do you think WILL be the next Husker HC?
  13. Well, it was an exhausting analysis that's for sure. I spoke with the brother of a mother of yours who said that your secretary's skinny aunt's sister's babysitter's pet poodle which was once bred during a late night prowl around Memorial Stadium by a Yorkie owned by none other than the gardner of the former owner of TO's 1972 chevy station wagon who strongly suggested that that mother of yours was sooooo embarassed by the outing of your middle uncle that she now denies any knowledge of you and further has changed hair dressers, gynecologists, and fish tank boys, so as to prevent you from ever tracking here down again and that she then went out and bought a special T-shirt that had your picture on the front and the saying, Stupid is NOT in MY family! It was a close call, granted, but I took that as a NO vote for the "Solid Information" series.
  14. Not that I have any more say about it than any other mere member but I personally am declaring the B.S. RUMOR WAR to be over. The clear winner is.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Turbo Gillini Thread The Reason No Annoucment will Come Until Next Week....
  15. I've had a couple of meetings with Dr. Tom, business related, in the mid 80's. However, I first met him in the mid 70's (yeah, I am old) when, as a young college student, I coached youth football in Lincoln. Well, who show's up on our team but Mike. Way back then, we didn't get much in the way of practice equipment. So, being the brash young college kid that I was, I called up the Coach. HE ANSWERED! I told him our plight and he agreed that I could come check out some blocking equipment. I had in mind a couple of hand dummies. So, I go to practice that night. During our warm up, the kids start acting funny. I start chewing 'em out. Mike points to the street. I turn. There is Dr. Tom, removing two of the BIGGEST line blocking dummies I'd ever seen from the rear of his station wagon. I hustled four kids, 2 on each dummy, to bring 'em over. I walked over to thank Dr. Tom. He shook my hand, and said "Work 'em hard" and "Good Luck"! He later attended quite a few of the games (Mike was quite a good little receiver and his best friend was the QB) and Dr. Tom would stand quietly on the sidelines and just watch his son play. Nobody would bother him although everyone knew he was there. Some would wish him good luck as we'd leave after the game, and Dr. Tom would smile and nod or say thanks guietly. Mostly they just let him be and that was cool. Later in the season, we played a particularly tough, close and exciting game, which we lost in the final seconds within yards of the goal line. After the game, I gave the kids the, if you gave it all you had (they had), then it's okay speech. Tom stood by the side with all the other parents. As we walked out I was quite clearly disapointed and dejected. Dr. Tom walked by with Mike and gave me a quick pat on the back and said, "It's okay. That's just the way it goes sometimes". Funny, I've always remembered what Tom said. That's just the way it goes. At the season's end, I returned the dummies. That's when I met Boyd Eppley. But that's another story!
  16. Why do people listen to talking heads? or sports editorials? Watch your sport, support your team, ignore those who think they know it all.
  17. THAT, MY FRIENDS, IS WHAT BC NEVER GOT. THAT, MY FREINDS, IS WHAT HUSKER FOOTBALL IS SUPPOSED TO BE. Those are some great highlights. I hope the new coach plays them EVERY SINGLE DAY for EVERY SINGLE PLAYER. Thanks, I think we all really needed that!
  18. Sorry but I just don't see that. If anything, he destroyed the ground work that had been laid. Maybe he wanted to leave his mark instead of leaning on the past. But, eliminating the walk on program, ignoring the concept of physical dominance, those make up the BC legacy.
  19. The spread will not be around forever. A new offensive scheme always comes around, is dominant for a while, then defenses catch up. Remember the Run 'n Shoot? Zone blitzes solved it. Defenses will stop the spread in a few years. I doubt T.O./McBride could instantly crush a brand new style of offense I agree with Tigers here. Things are cyclical, that's for sure. New invention leads to new response. But, if I recall correctly, TO and his staff had their share of problems stopping the triple option of Oklahoma. Dont' get me wrong, I got a warm fuzzy when I saw Dr. T step up to the podium as AD. Somehow, the universe started to right itself when that happened. But, let's not go diefy the guy and his staff.
  20. Sheesh, their scoops, along with those of Scout or Big RedReport, plus a buck will get you a small coffee at McDonald's. Nothing more.
  21. Sorry but it doesn't make sense enough to be a viable rumor. Shame on KPTM for spreading trash that the BigRedReport spews. My understanding is that the meeting this afteroon is "housekeeping" end of season meeting, i.e. clean out your lockers, here's the info on the team banquet, here's your winter conditioning schedule, and the like.
  22. Just a thought in view of the fact that the NU job isn't the only one out there. It could be that Bo said No thanks. After all, Miles appears to be headed back to Michigan and with Bo's rep in Baton Rouge, he may already be a shoo in for that HC job, especially if they take the SEC championship and their bowl game.
  23. Now this I gotta agree with, Callahan is gone. Let's forget about him Gunner: I have to say I always look forward to your posts........
