  1. No kidding.....Im sick of all the sunshine pumpers on this board. This is a message board where people are here to have open discussions about the team we all support. This team just played an absolutely pathetic game. What do you want people to say here? "Oh its OK boys...you tried hard....good luck next week....it was fun watching you get whipped today." Some people on this board have opinions about certain players and coaches. Who are you to tell them they can't voice their opinion?
  2. The B1G has been and still is a very overrated conference. Nebraska is a very mediocre team and we are one of the better teams in the conference. There are really no elite teams in the conference. This conference is full of a bunch of 10-25 ranked teams. Come bowl season....this conference will get shown up again.
  3. HA....Ive been trying to tell people this for a LONG time...Ive never been able to say it quite as well though. +10000000 The day Nebraska goes back to its roots and reestablishes its identity of a power running team is the day we will be back on the road to the National Championship. We have to go back to getting the big bad Nebraska o-line recruits and the guys who bleed Husker Red before we will be back. Im afraid that this will never happen though because people think the game has evolved so much and you have to be so many different things in order to be successful.
  4. This is what really frustrates me the most. I know Bo is supposed to be this defensive guru and the philosophy of playing only 4 down is to keep everything in front of you and limit the big plays but it definitely comes at the expense of stopping the running game. Im not sure we have ever been able to stop a top 25 team from running the ball fairly effectively since Bo got here (not counting Suh's senior season which we all know was an amazing defense because of 1 amazing player). We continually let teams control the line of scrimmage when were on defense and give up the 3-4-5 yard runs at will. Heck, even the plays where we have their run defended well, their guy still usually falls forward for 2-3 yards.
  5. The players sure didn't show up or play with any passion in this game. They sure wasted their time all those late nights. You would think if they cared enough to put in extra hours that they would care enough to play with some passion. Bo Pelini teams seem to be lacking this several games a year.
  6. I think you and I were watching different games. We had a mere 14 rushing attempts in the second half. Not sure what you are referring to about going back to the running game. We threw the ball nearly every down in the second half. Youre right, Northwestern is really a sweet football team. They were 1-4 in the conference going into today today and 3-5 overall. Their wins are over Boston College, Eastern Illinois, Indiana and now us....yeah....they're really good.
  7. This is what people around here just aren't understanding. Martinez had arguably his most effective day passing since he became qb at NU.....and we LOST. We lost because we had 5 drops???? So you're telling me in order to beat Northwestern, yes Northwestern, we must go 34/38 in the passing game (89%) and have 0 turnovers? We should be able to overcome 2 turnovers and not have to be near perfect in the passing game. We should also be able to move the ball on the ground, at will, against the 98th ranked defense in the country. We shouldn't have to "take what the defense gives us" against such a pathetic team like Northwestern. The defense played bad but we have known all year that they are bad. They played terrible today but only gave up 28pts. Again, our offense should be able to put up more than 28 against the 98th ranked defense out of 120 total teams. We have no identity and are multiple every game which is why we suck. People who don't think we need an identity or who enjoy being multiple or agree with "taking what the defense gives us".....better get used to being very average....we are not good.
  8. Why did you dig this up? it is a lesson on how easy it is to overreact about coaches, players, and the season. thus, "lest we forget. it is a long season." i was mostly trying to find a thread around the osu game when we thought all was lost. to me, at least, it is crazy how we felt about the season during the first half of the osu game to how we feel about it now. such extremes in so little time. Maybe people weren't really overacting after all?????
  9. Nebraska: Rushing Attempts: 34 Passing Attempts: 38 Northwestern: Rushing Attempts: 53 Passing Attempts: 24 Our rushing game wasn't there early because we were getting dominated up front. What does Beck do? Completely abandons the running game the rest of the game. No difference than Watson was and and other offensive coordinator with spread/multiple/wco background. We have no identity and it comes through in games like this. Im done with Bo Pelini. Go out and hire a few more of your high school buddies to round out your coaching staff. You are a defensive coordinator (proving to be a very average one), not a head coach.
  10. Games like this is exactly why our offense needs to establish an identity. This play calling has absolutely no purpose. Beck might as well be throwing darts at plays stuck on the wall.
  11. And we have thrown the ball 14 times....seriously? Establish some running game, especially since it is windy.
  12. Well after like your 6th or 7th mistake, even good people have to pay the price and take the punishment. This will sound bad but she's lucky she didn't really injure the cyclist or even kill one of them. She would be going away for a long, long time.
  13. Is that true? Do you all believe that? Is CU just one of those teams that always plays you close? Since 1990 I got you...thats how we are with Minnesota and how Minnesota is with every FCS school they play. We were their season. They could have lost every game and beat us and their season would be a success. Yep, definitely Minnesota The difference though between Minnesota and Colorado is that Colorado actually had some REALLY good teams during that 20 year span. We played a lot of close games and lost a handful because they were good. They were also very bad like 3 of those years and still played us close. We were also pretty bad there for a stretch, lol.
  14. IMO Martinez's biggest flaw in the option game is not making the defender commit to him. When he is running at that DE and the DE looks like he's going to commit to Martinez, he always backs off before he pitches the ball instead of running right into the DE. Im not sure if the coaches are teaching him to do this so he doesn't take as many hits or what but eventually the DE is gonna fake Martinez out and then he will be able to get up field to Burkhead for a 5 yard loss. I really wish Martinez would stay the course and really make that DE commit to him so that sometimes he can fake the pitch to Burkhead (ala Crouch) and then take it on the keep.
  15. Well, I'm not going to tell you you're wrong about entitlement. I don't presume to know what goes on in her head. But I've met her, several times, and she doesn't come across that way. A lot of people can sure come across as really nice people only to later find out they are exactly the opposite. Some people just put on a good show when they are in front of the public or feel they need to impress people. Their true colors come out "behind closed doors." Now I don't know her at all but if I heard that someone not named Lauren Cook had hit and run a motorcyclist, while driving on a suspended license, also had 6 speeding tickets and skipped the class required from them....I would say that person is pretty stupid. I would also say they have an attitude that says "I can do whatever I want, whenever I want to." Now if this person had a clean record and then had this hit and run incident, I would probably give them a pass as one of those bone head moments everyone has in life. This just seems a little over the top though.
  16. Im guessing it could be anyone who has significant playing time and plays a large role on defense. Just because a guy doesn't line up for the first play on defense doesn't mean he can't come in and make a huge impact. We rotate so many guys on defense so itd be hard to only give them to 11 guys.
  17. Nobody is disagreeing with you on that fact. The Nebraska vs Oklahoma rivalry is no longer. I don't think anyone on this board still feels like we are rivals with OU. Still would be fun to play them again in ANY bowl.
  18. I would hope Big 10 fans would realize this too. Nebraska vs Oklahoma is not only a Nebraska tradition...its a College Football Tradition. Now that this games is going to be played VERY RARELY, you take advantage of it whenever you can. Who cares if it disrupts the Rose Bowl and the B1G vs Pac 12 tradition. Nebraska vs Oklahoma is bigger and more important than that. The Rose Bowl could hypothetically play B1G vs Pac 12 every year for the next 100+ years. Nebraska vs Oklahoma might happen 2-3 times the next 100 years. You play NU vs OU in the Rose Bowl. For most people Nebraska-Oklahoma doesn't even register as a rivalry. http://espn.go.com/s...Id=1&listId=311 just one example. Sorry, add it to your OCS. Don't change our tradition. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/26676228 You should just go back to your Wisconsin board if you really can't figure out why Nebraska vs Oklahoma isn't mentioned on either of those polls. Fixed it for you. i disagree with huskerbs in these two instances. the ou-NU rivalry ended with a whimper long ago, and it is silly to expect, or even want, the B1G to change some of its greatest traditions for our preference. the ou-NU rivalry was only relevant when both teams were in the top ten, which was a lot, but hoping for ou-NU to play again would only be for the nostalgia, not to preserve or revive any perceived rivalry. wisconsin has had to unfortunate loses, but they are still the team the rudely introduced us to the B1G. I agree on all counts accept for one. From my perspective the OU vs NU rivalry didn't end all that long ago... I still remember what I did the night before the 2001 #1 vs #2 Gameday matchup: Halloween party in Lincoln, dressed as a hooker (my buddy's girlfriend was the pimp), and got hit on by a guy (very creepy) Plans were to go to Gameday the next morning but had to much fun tailgating with NU and OU fans in the alley behind his apartment at 22nd and Vine. This weekend seems like a couple of years ago, not "long" ago. Although I do realize that ten years ago put me into my "awesome college years" and some posters here in kindergarten.... What I'm saying: "To a person in their early 20's or teens, yes, the OU vs NU rivalry is long gone. To a person in their 30's or 40's, like me, it is a very recent rivalry. To a person in their 50's, 60's, or 70's; the "Game of the Century" might have well been last weekend! at the same time, that 2001 game was clearly the last gasp of a fading rivalry in its death throes that started at the inception of the big 12. Yeah youre right, the game in 09' and the Big 12 Championship in 2010 were terrible games. The rivalry was clearly over in 2001.
  19. Fixed it for you. 48-17 5 National Championships....................LMAO You really laughed that hard over that? Yeah, it was just as funny as his 48-17 post.
  20. And people here are just telling you what they would like to see. Just because your opinion and desires don't line up with some people's on here doesn't mean that we are "breaking your traditions." Also, don't expect people to just sit back and go along with everything you say. We get this label as "the greatest fans in college football." We will be nice to you but if u start throwing bows, expect us to stick up for our team. The Rose Bowl hasn't been exclusive to B1G vs Pac12 so I don't really see the big deal of pausing (not ending) tradition, to accommodate a college football tradition that will be enjoyed very rarely in the future. Doesn't seem too unreasonable to me or like too much to ask for. Then again, neither you, nor I have the power to make this happen. Oh gee, thanks for being so nicey nice and accommodating to us. And thanks for giving us the HARDEST possible schedule in the B1G for our first season. FYI, you don't have the authority to ask for ANYTHING from us. Only Jim Delany does. You really haven't done anything but sit back and watch your TV. LOL I won't speak for others but the Rose Bowl is definitely not what makes the B1G the most storied in the game. Sorry.
  21. Fixed it for you. 48-17 5 National Championships....................LMAO
