  1. Nebraska. Better running game. Passing will be more difficult. MSU biggest threat to our D is through the air while ours to them is on the ground. I don't think it's going to be a huge factor either way but it certainly does not hurt us.
  2. 1. Despite giving up only 14 points this defense still makes me uneasy. Can't put my finger on why, but just can't buy in to the D yet 2. Short passing game looked better in second half but still needs to improve if we are going to put up points against a well coached defense with talent to back it up 3. This years team has a mental toughness I haven't seen in Bo's teams. Yes, there was a lull in the second half, but overall these kids seem to be able to shrug off bad plays and make adjustments unlike previous years. This more then anything leaves me cautiously optimistic that the blowout losses are over.
  3. Ameer posing for fan photos. Not the behavior of someone who is concerned about an injury
  4. Seriously Ameer is fine. I guarantee you it's nothing. Mitchell is the real problem
  5. Why is Chuck Long so desperate to pump up everything Illinois does that even remotely decent
  6. TA better figure something out quickly because MSU has the athletes in coaching to take Ameer out of the game if they make that their sole focus. Our passing game doesn't have to be great, but it needs to at least exist as a credible option
  7. No excuses for his play this game. Just awful. He should be excelling with this run game. He has exactly one throw he can execute accurately which is why every Bell TD catch looks like the same play.
  8. Yes say you love Tommy Armstrongs field vision and the way he works through progressions to find the 3rd or fourth option
  9. Yeah, I think you're right. I know if I was an impartial ESPN staffer the Grove>East Lansing anyway. Fun place to see a game.
  10. I honestly thought it might be a possibility. While I'd love to see it at Lincoln, it would be nice if our game was the marquee matchup even if it was away. But I was listening to SVP today on the way home and he sent a message to Ole Miss. "Take care of business against Memphis this weekend and you will likely be getting a visit from a certain Saturday TV show".
  11. As of now it's a very average defense with one great player. But teams are going to key on Gregory all year and the other guys have to step up. I have no doubt the line guys will, but the lack of talent at LB is a huge problem with no real solution. The fact is this defense is substantially worse then it was at the end of last year mainly due to the loss of personel you mentioned. That's the bad news. The good news is the offense is an order of magnitude better. The defense doesn't need to be great. Also, I strongly disagree that any of the teams we play will present the problems matchup wise Miami did. MSU and Wisc are better overall then Miami but they aren't offenses we should get gashed by. If the D keeps us in the game the offense will get it done. I think you will see a lot of close first halves with Neb pulling away in the second half as defenses get worn down by the ground game.
  12. Opened a can of worms with that Wyoming statement...Correct Doc? Yes, our logo used to look like what is on the helmet graphic below this, until the State of Wyoming (not the University itself) threatened to sue us if we didn't change it. But we changed it and it ended up being a good thing because we sold a ton of stuff with the new logo on it. Thanks gain for the votes, guys. Doc Sorry man. Didn't know that about Wyo. was at my sons baseball practice today and one of the Moms said here daughter was looking at Mcneese. She's apparently a great softball player and being recruited. I heard the comment and turned around and said "Tell her to go there, great football program!"
  13. Agree. But that play might be what led him to run it so much from then on. Agree. But that play might be what led him to run it so much from then on. Or, if tommy doesn't lock onto Westerkamp from the snap, he throws to a wide open Kenny underneath for a 20 yard gain. This! That was a great call by Beck. Bell had no one near him. Miami was sucked in to the run game at that point. Against better teams executing plays like that will be crucial. We will not demoralize defenses like MSU like we did Miami. Miami may have better athletes but like any bully they roll over when punched in the mouth. Against a higher character team, we must pass to keep them honest and that play was there. TA decided when he broke the huddle he was going for Jordan
  14. Opened a can of worms with that Wyoming statement...Correct Doc?Well, they ARE similar
  15. Done. I think your logo is kick ass. I've always like Wyomings as well. 57% after my vote
  16. Neither team has the talent of Miami offensively. Gordon is the only major talent on either team IMO and Wiscy has no credible passing threat. I don't think a one dimensional running attack will beat our D. MSU scares me even less offensively. I think we match up great with them as we showed last year minus the TO's. We are better then last year and MSU is worse. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a full fledged Kool Aid Guzzler at all and I think your concerns about the D are valid. I just don't think Wis or MSU are good enough. Of the two Wisc would worry me more because I think they have a little mental edge on us because of how things have played out against them recently and Madison is a tough house
  17. ah yes. The classic "you suck cuz we suck, so you suck more" banter. Yep. This is the 1000th variation of the same post this guy has made today. Each one conveniently ignores the fact that the last touchdown was just garbage points against a soft eat clock defense as well as the fact that the QB he is in love with crapped the bed twice at crucial moments getting saved by the refs on one of them. He looked exactly like a freshman to me. When the pressure was on he forced bad throws and shut the door on any chance his team had
  18. I think Oregon is the single most overrated team in CFB right now. Last night did nothing to change my mind on that. Alabama gets better each week. FSU is also overrated but they just squeaked by the only ACC team that they don't outclass talent wise by an order of magnitude so they are probably safe. Auburn is a paper tiger. They will drop multiple games in the conference. OU is solid and WVU is a much improved team and Morgantown is a very tough place to play. No shame in that win at all.
