  1. His number one priority is being the face of the athletic department and raising money. If the Osborne complex were even close to being funded we would have heard about it by now. Sure some of the other sports are doing well but not because of anything Pederson has done. People get fired everyday for not doing their job well. I'm not asking for him to be fired yet but his contract is up the beginning of next year and it sure would do the university well to not renew it.
  2. If Doak was fired by Callahan, then why did Doak resign? Doesn't firing someone kind of supercede their resignation? I also find it hard to believe that Doak was the reason Callahan got the job. It's not like Callahan took a team to the f'ing SUPER BOWL JUST 1 YEAR BEFORE? I MEAN WHO PAYS ATTENTION TO THE SUPER BOWL?!?!?! I guess what I am trying to say is that Callahan already had his name out there so to speak. Doak needs to put a lid on it. This is the first I have heard about Doak "resigning." If he did turn in a letter of resignation it came after Callahan told him that his services were no longer needed. Essentially it would have been a "resignation" much like Dan McCarney- "We are going in a different direction, either you can resign or get fired, your choice." Doak needs to speak about it. We as taxpayers need to know what is going on where our taxdollars are concerned and he is the only one speakin about it. We have got the typical "no comment" from the university.
  3. Dave please put on your shirt. Thanks.
  4. Wow :asshat The only sad part of it is that you claim to be a Husker fan. Quick somebody name the trainer from ANY OTHER program in the country. Come on, I'll give you 20 seconds. You can't, you want to know why? Because in the grand scheme of things they aren't that important. People are fired all the time. What I find really sleezy on ol' Doak's part is that he was allowed to stay on as long as he did so he could attain all of his retirement benefits and then he goes on radio shows and bashed the administration. Sour grapes is what is spewing from Doak's mouth and luckily, since this is such a none story it will be completely forgotten in a couple of weeks. Those that use this as some kind of proof of the evil ways of BC and or SP are really starting to grasp at straws. Is Doak not a human being? Does he not deserve the respect of any person who has poured this much of his life into a passion for so little recognition or praise. Ask any former player (from the golden days) about Doak and his influence on their lives. If you had any knowledge of NU football you would understand what he meant to the program. What is said is that you are impersonating a Husker fan. Even more sad is that you eat the bulls&!t that Pederson feeds you.
  5. I didn't have time to read the article. Is he transferring to Peru State?
  6. Your right. I guess reading a couple of books about NU football will make you a Husker. True but Devaney resurrected the program from the dead. He didn't take a program that was limping along and shoot it in the head. I agree the past is the past. Everything changes. NU is not NU.
  7. I wanna see 'em. I want to see concrete evidence of these lies. Like I said, I am sure he's not the most honest guy, but with all the garbage that floats around these issues I'd really like to see proof that doesn't involve a level of hearsay or implying one thing from another with no real proof. I'd really like to hate this guy as much as the people that funneled their hate into websites, caps, hat's, t-shirts, etc, etc. I'd be fun I think. "I am sure that he's not the most honest guy...." So even you are saying he is a liar, then you do a 180 and say that you need proof. There have been many instances where he has been caught in lies it wouldn't take much for you get access to them. Having a charter waiting for Nutt in Fayettevilee and denying it, offering the job to the Chief's assistant then denying it. Offering the job to Zimmer then denying it. Saying he fired Solich because of recruiting but Callahan's recruiting has not been spectacular. An intelligent man can see the signs. Was it always in the black with Byrne? Hell, has it ever really been in the black? Does the rest of the university rely on money earned from the athletic department? I am pretty sure no, that's what tuition is for. As long as the department can actually fund the programs it needs to, is there really a problem? Sure, being in the black is better than in the red. Anyone knows that. Do you have balance sheets from the athletic department? Obviously this is a rhetorical question. I would hope not. However I would expect some hearsay. Byrne apparently decided to basically stop spending money on football at NU. We had great facilities as was well noted in the 90's. Then you started to hear how they weren't awful, but they didn't stand out among other schools. Was that OK? Byrne did have the department in the black. He had ideas of upgrading facilities but knew that the money wasn't there so he abandoned them. Also, as much a Pederson likes to thump his chest we would have heard about a zillion times by now if we had that project funded. Go back and read the quote again I never said that almighty one. 9-5 and out of the rankings. Does he really want credit for that? And you never know who you are talking to and where they get their info.
  8. Doak was interviewed on the radio today and said that his immediate boss did not fire him and, Pederson did not fire him, Callahan who is not his boss, did. He also said that he has not been given a reason why. Doak did mention that is was pretty ironic that he was the guy who on the recommendation of Adam Treu and John Parrella recommended Callahan for the job, and Callahan stabbed him in the back. I guess Cally and Stevie are cut from the same low-integrity cloth. What a sad day to be a Husker.
  9. Shatel said that it wasn't about him getting the shaft, it was how NU has lost the family feel that it used to have and many NU fans say the same thing. He said that we should be able to tour the complex any time we want just like the majority of other major universities do. If this is really due to "female athletes and employees" do they have armed guards walk these people to their cars and escort them around campus? Shatel also said that Steve called his editor all pissed off that he was never contacted about this column. Steve isn't God and doesn't need to be contacted. Besides, Shatel said that the World Herald has been trying to contact him for over 2 months with no response but he could call them about this article. Steve offered to be interviewed as a response to the piece but when he was told that there were other issues they wanted to discuss with him, the gutless worm Pederson declined the interview. Hopefully Perlman gets rid of him and can bring back some Nebraska to NU.
  10. I agree with most of what you say. The lies Steve has told are numerous and well documented. There is a huge reason why he should be fired. While the new football complex is great, it was poorly funded and the majority of the big donors are withholding money because they don't trust the guy. The athletic department is in the red because of his poor people skills which has led the project to be underfunded. As for everyone patting him on the back about everything he has done, the football team finished worse than it did with Solich, Yori, Anderson, and Cook were all Byrne's hires, and he never would have hired Doc if Collier didn't quit. With Byrne NU used to fight Texas for the Big 12 all sports cup and now we are lucky to finish higher than 4th. He really deserves no credit.
  11. Callahan never played offensive line and Jay Norvell was a Defensive Back in college. I don't think having played a position dictates whether or not you can coach it, IMO. Sure, but it would be nice if they hired someone who has actually coached a football position, not a strength coach.
  12. This story is old news it came out 2 Fridays ago. Personally if he left fine. It would be nice to have a receivers coach who had recievers who caught the ball.
  13. Well it beats telling a kid to pay his own way for a year and promising him that there would be a scholarship waiting for him the next year. Then you give that scholarship to another player and tell the first kid that you would be better off looking for a new place to play, costing him a couple of years of his eligibility. Good luck, Brian.
  14. It's regrettable that PERHAPS something as innocent as ibuprofen poisoning (i.e., taking too many Advils) could be blown so out of proportion. This is all speculation but if it were something as innocent (and highly unlikely) as ibuprofen poisoning just come out and say it and the story is over. Obviously there is something much more to the story. If they are covering something up, then there must be something worth covering up.
  15. The cover 2 seemed to work pretty well the year before when we had a pretty good defensive coordinator. We returned the majority of those players for the 2004 season. Facts.
  16. ESPN's John Clayton was on "Unsportsmanlike Conduct" earlier this week and mentioned that there is basically no interest in Callahan from the NFL. There is very little interest in him as a coordinator and none as a head coach. He will be here for at least another couple of 8-4 years.
  17. If you watched that 2003 season you could easily tell that Solich didn't hand over playcalling to Cotton. That was still the same old qb left/qb right/qb middle that he always used.
  18. What was Frankie's record again? What was NU's record? Just wondering. Identical 9-5 season. Look into it and NU won 38 games and went to bowls in the 4 seasons prior to Callahan arriving. Ohio has won 6 games in its 4 years previous to Solich and had only went to like one bowl in their history. If you take that into consideration it looks like Frank has done a fine job. (waiting for spin......)
  19. I don't want to get in the middle of your little squabble, you can bag on them all you want but both of those guys you mentioned had pretty good seasons this year.
  20. NU and CU are similar in that they are both Big 12 schools that are in the same area who ran the same offense. Both schools have at least some tradition of success (in CU's case that is very little but some noneless). In a similar situation which was offensive co-ordinator at CU the results were not all that good. Also you may want to check which Miami university they were referring to, hotshot.
  21. What we do know is how well his offenses worked while he was the offensive coordinator in a program that is similiar to Nebraska. But apparently in your opinion results really don't mean that much. Because Callahan said he was a good coach, it must be huh?
  22. He will fit in perfectly. In his 6 years as OC at CU he only had one year that his offense finished in the top 20 with the rest being below the top 55. What a great choice.
  23. It worked great against the Troy's, Nichols State's and LA Tech's, but we played 4 top 25 teams this year and averaged less than 2 TDs in those games. That is not great.
  24. Well as long as the omnipotent, great, internet board mod DaveH says so...it must be. You get a -
  25. And you are making assumptions about people you know nothing about that everything is just hunky-dory even though all of the mounting evidence may suggest otherwise. I don't know if it's true or not but it is worth discussing.
