  1. 1st Game- 1990 Colorado: We were ahead going into the fourth quarter when Mickey Joseph took an option down the sideline to give us an apparent 19-0 lead when a ref called him OB at like the 8 or something like that and we ended up missing a FG. CU score four fourth quarter TD's to win 27-12. It was COOOOOLLLLLLLDDDDDD! Best Moment- 1990 Colorado: It was Senior Day and the last home game for Kenny Walker, the Big 8 Player of the Year that year. When they announced him the crowd signed "I love you" to him all together. Nice moment for a truly inspirational player. He went on the be one of the few deaf players to ever play in the NFL. Best Game- 1991 K State: NU was down by 7 with probably 8 minutes to go and came back to win 38-31 in a game that may have marked KSU's turning the corner to become a relevant program. It wasn't supposed to be a close game but it sure ended up being a real edge of your seater.
  2. Where Vondrae is concerned I think no news is good news for him. He's probably still rehabbing his knee. I don't think he's playing basketball this year.
  3. Are they going to put Rodgers on offense or defense. I thought I heard they listed him as a DB. I watched his videos and he sure looks like a kid with great offensive potential. Another kid who's videos show tremendous possibility is Kyler Reed. I'm not sure where they plan on using him either but wherever he ends up I would be surprised if he doesn't make a big impact when it is all said and done.
  4. Hmm I thought you were talking about Nebraska Recruits since we are in the Nebraska recruiting section. Either OR.... My NU sleeper is Lester Ward. How's that?
  5. lol... I also heard that Bill Callahan is expected to replace TO as AD I heard Bob Hope came back from the dead and put Corey McKeon on his All-American Team this year!
  6. Remember this name. Jewel Hampton. He signed with Iowa. I watched video on him and he struck me as a very good talent. I was surprised he wasn't heavily recruited. He's my 2008 Sleeper.
  7. Well we all witnessed what happens to a recruit when you screw over Coach Pelini and his staff! ala Simi. I personally think some other team may have made a last ditch effort at KT. I know for a fact that our coaching staff was on the phone with him AFTER he announced his decision. Most likely to ask him WTF was that announcment was all about! Oh well....Pess on and keep fighting! What happens when you screw over Coach Pelini? Elaborate if you will, I'm not gamiliar with the story. Thanks.
  8. Bingo! I just want the best players to play...don't care if they are a freshman or senior, etc. If Compton is good enough then let's play him! Anyone know how Austin Stafford is progressing? Does he project to see snaps this upcoming year or is he too deep on depth chart? If he's good enough play him. However, it seems like too many people here are getting too far ahead of themselves. Don't put too high of expectations on him. It's difficult to live up to that kind of hype. I'd rather temper expectations and be really pumped when they exceed them than get too high on a kid and have him feel too much pressure. He's got four years to contribute. Very exciting to have players of his caliber committing to the NEW staff though! There is HOPE!!!
  9. I think when a kid commits months in advance in order to get an offer from some other school it can be looked at as "playing the system", but with Brown we are talking about a guy who committed less than a month from signing day and made no bones about his desire to play at A&M. I can't blame him for committing to NU to make sure that he had a schollie somewhere. I don't have any hard fellings towards a kid for this situation.
  10. Probably more like 4 years. Why is the Gabbert thread still getting bumps? Dangit, I'm guilty too!!! Let's kill this thread!
  11. That's too bad. I really thought this kid was a real sleeper. I wish he would have just stayed with us and been part of this class. I'd be willing to bet he wishes the same thing now. Oh well.
  12. Uhhhh we have the #3 richest person on the planet living in Omaha Warren Buffett. Makes Phil Knight look like chump change.....and hes a huge Husker fan I highly doubt Warren Buffet will leave much to Nebraska football. His donations are much more focused on charity organizations. He only left a very small percentage to even his own kids. Having said that, there were rumors that he paid a significant sum to get Callahan fired, so I don't know... Unless I missed something these past few days, Buffet aint dead yet so how do we know how much he left for his kids? He made it public a few years ago that something like 95% of his estate is being given to the Gates Foundation.
  13. What are the rumblings and who do they involve?
  14. In fairness, Darren McFadden is about 6'3". Steven Jackson and Eddie Gearge are both about 6'3" too, but they are both well over 220 lbs. also. He's a bit thin for RB, but if he can bulk up about 25 (at least) it might be enough.
  15. You are correct sir!!! However, I did promise that since a few precious souls gave me so much crap that if they ever stepped out of line I would lace their Cheerios with, well, whatever foul tasting substance I could find. So, without further issues, diatribes, or rants and raves, I hereby declare that I am OUT!
  16. if true, you can't blame Watson for being up front with Renfree's dad.......if Renfree had comitted here sooner, maybe things would have been totally reversed? anyway, i feel good about stealing a guy away from Gundy, who just didn't treat Spano right. Big Willie... Remember this post? So does calling a 17 year-old kid qualify as classless and sad? You trashed me on the Vondre Tostensen board for saying I hoped we didn't go after this kid because he has attitude issues and you called me "classless" and said it was "sad" that I would say such things about a young high school kid. Practice what you preach bro. I LOVE HYPOCRITES!!! What a wonderful guy you must be. A real inspiration to those of us who read these boards in search of someone with such higher morals than ourselves. I am honored to have been taken to task by the likes of you. Congrats Lil' Willie... you are great.
  17. When did I mention your name specifically?? Since you call yourself "Father5" I figure you have kids. How would you like knowing that people were saying this crap about your son? Or better yet, telling other's that he's popping acid? I just find it ironic that a GROWN MAN has to come on here and belittle a kid! Oh well, some seem to get their "fix" on that kind of stuff! Popping acid? What the hell are you talking about? You are equating my reservations about this kid because of his attitude issues to someone saying he is on acid? Please try to make sense. This is how this kind of forum works. One person posts on here how great it would be to have Player A come to NU and play for the Huskers. Another person comes on and either agrees or disagrees with that person. For instance, someone posted about the QB kid from Bellvue West about what an outstanding prospect he was. I saw this kid play and wasn't nearly as impressed and posted that maybe he wasn't D1 material. Is that belittling? No. It's an opinion about a kid's ability. I may, in fact, be so wrong on that that one day I eat my words. That is why it is a "forum" and a "discussion". We discuss the pros and cons of players and their abilities, prospects, and even off-the-field issues. Not everything said of every prospect on this board has been positive. After decommittments some people have said some really nasty stuff about players. Have you guys that have been bashing me gone after those guys too? Or, is it more likely that you think I'm "picking" on Vondrae for some other reason? Either way guys, this post is dead to me. I'll let it go if you do.
  18. I hope I never see any of you guys post anything negative about a kid on this board. I will be all over your butt in a heartbeat. Slandering. Since when does anything I have said about this kid = slandering? You guys are really sensitive. Get over yourselves.
  19. Uggh.....I guess it was to be expected. I just can't help but think that this dude will be a future top 5 pick. There is still a lot of time left, maybe we can sway him with a great season next year and a poor Ohio State season. I just find it funny that juniors in HIGH SCHOOL commit to teams before even taking visits to other schools. I wish someone would do a study and see how many of these jr's who commit early actually stay with that school. I would sure be interested in seeing the results. I'd bet a majority of the kids who commit early to schools from their home state stay committed. However, out of state commits would seem to be the ones more likely to de-commit because there's probably more chance that the sentimental ties aren't as strong. Just an opinion though.
  20. Classless? Dude, what on Earth are you talking about? Are you his uncle or something? Classless would be calling the kid names and saying things about him that are not true. Classless would be bringing race into the issue or something like that. I hope the kid does mature and turn into a very positive person. Did I miss something? Why the "pat yourself on the back" comment. I was just going to let this whole thing go without even replying to this thread until I saw this post. I'm not even going to go into the comment about my children or grandchildren.... it was just plain stupid. I actually heard from some of the MS kids that Vondrae was a very good teammate. But being a good teammate doesn't translate into much if you never see the field because of your off the field issues. Here's hoping he finds his way as a senior and next year we are talking about him in an entirely different light.
  21. Whatever, I hope ND loses every game (no different than any other year really). Ok, how about this... TR, I hope you graduate with a nice degree from UND. Sorry man, that's the best I can do. LOL
  22. I certainly don't wish TR ill will, but "wish him luck"? Uh, sorry, he's going to ND. I certainly don't wish he suffers any grueling injury or anything but I certainly do not wish him luck. When he committed to ND, he became just like any other kid who would commit to any other school regardless of whether the kid is from Nebraska or not. If anything, I hope ND never wins a game in the next four years. Just because I don't gush all over this kid and hope he someday wins the Outland doesn't make me a dirtbag. I'm just not going to root for anyone who de-commits from NU and goes somewhere else. FYI
  23. I believe he has the physical tools allready. It just depends on whether or not he can put everything else together.
  24. I really didn't like what I saw of him when BW played Millard North. However, he did put up some really good numbers over the season. I guess it comes down to whether or not the coaches think he has the physical tools. His arm strength didn't look too good to me. He got beaten up pretty bad by the d-line in that game so maybe it was more of an abberation. Ask again next fall.
