  1. If they hadn't thrown the flag and then picked it up, I would probably feel differently. The fact that they huddled and decided, "you know, we actually don't want Nebraska to be first and goal" is what pisses me off. PI is a judgement call made by the ref closest to the action. It's not really something that you can huddle up and debate about. There's no way you can convince me that Dennard's PI was legit, either. Again, contrast that with what they let slide against A&M. Too similar to rule differently vs. the other team.
  2. Picking up the PI flag, after calling PI on Dennard for arguably the same level of interference is probably the second most egregious example of poor officiating in that game. And I understand the "he kicked the player, the ref had to throw the flag" argument, but somebody please answer me this: WHAT WAS BEN COTTON SUPPOSED TO DO? Let him keep twisting???
  3. Bull. You had two turnovers that took away scoring opportunities. You had three drives start at midfield that you failed to convert into any points. You mean one turnover, the one Int, his foot was out of bounds... Cody Green's INT was on 2nd and 17 from inside our own 40. That INT was as good as a punt. Tmart's INT took a probable FG off the board, though we just as likely would have been penalized out of FG range on 3rd down.
  4. Osborne's hit was textbook. I wouldn't ask him to do it any other way. I agree with the whole "rise above" theme here, but you can't ask your players to dial it back in a FOOTBALL GAME.
  5. Mizzou didn't play Texas. Also, when Mizzou played A&M it was actually 11 on 11.
  6. I was just about to say the same thing. This offense is getting worse by the week. We have zero depth at QB.
  7. Mizzou lost two of their last 4, including a demolition job at the hands of.... NU.
  8. I get frustrated every time somebody says, "Well I'm sure it didn't help that Bo was berating the officials the whole game." In my gut, I feel that this actually had a bigger impact on the way the game was officiated than any season-long conspiracy. I'm sure it's why Osborne got the roughing the passer call and why the DPI that would have put us 1st and goal was picked up. I suspect it's why Martin picked up two PF's for physical play, but nobody saw what happened so I can't be sure. I also suspect it's why A&M had only two penalties in a game where the stripes were clearly not afraid to throw flags. 16-2 is one hell of a statistical outlier, one that can't be explained by "NU just being undisciplined." A&M is "undisciplined," too. Just look at the season penalty totals. But here's the thing: Bo yelling at the officials does not excuse the way the game was officiated. It's unprofessional to skew the way you are making calls just because a coach is riding your ass. You call the game as you see it, regardless of what a coach is saying to you, because that's what a PROFESSIONAL does. And the more you blow calls on purpose, the more that coach is going to get in your ear. If you have a problem with the way a coach is treating you, talk to him and give him a warning. Throw a flag on him. Throw two flags on him. But what you DON'T do is tilt the playing field to the disadvantage of that coach's players. He's the problem, not the safety blitzing the QB on the most critical 3rd down of the game. Furthermore, the ref on Bo's sideline didn't even acknowledge him most of the time. Just straight ignored him. Why do you think he yelled louder and louder? I'm not saying Bo handled the situation with the utmost professionalism, either, but that ref was poking a caged animal all night.
  9. 16-2. Is it really that hard to imagine why we feel hosed? I repeat, 16-2. Go back and watch every one of Cyrus Gray's carries and tell me that A&M miraculously did not commit one single holding penalty in the entire game. Nice hands to the face on that play that knocked Caputo into Martinez, BTW.
  10. Did we steal the 60 yards we gained after the penalty? Was the call questionable? Sure. Did you have additional opportunities to stop us after the penalty? Yes. You also turned the ball over two times. Was that part of "the fix," too? Come on, guys. Again, I think it was just a hard fought game that went down to the wire. Are you talking about the roughing the passer penalty? From what I recall, that put A&M at about the 35 yd line. That's precisely one mediocre off-tackle running play from being in field goal range.
  11. If the ref saw the kick, how did he not see the ball grabbing? He was right f'ing there, kneeling down over him!
  12. Allegedly they're even more permissive of holding, except it's equal opportunity.
  13. For whatever reason, most Ags have been thinking that it's an automatic six if Tannehill recognizes Man and hits Fuller. They are extremely quick to forget that we have 2 pro-caliber corners, and that even when they are beat, make great adjustments to the ball for either a pass breakup or an int. I would say that no one else in the country does what we do in the secondary. If you want to see how great our pass D is, watch the Mizzou game on ESPN3. Gabbert had no where to throw and when did he complete something, they were through extremely small passing windows and really were a testament to his accuracy. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a frustrated Tannehill SHOULD they go through the air. If Sherman is smart, he'll try and stick to the ground game. Yup. This is at least the third aTm poster to come on here and tell us how much of a mismatch they think they have w/ one-on-one deep routes and slot routes. I doubt these guys have even watched a Nebraska game. If they had, they would be licking their chops at the thought of Gray against our interior run D...
  14. The student section is still totally removed from the sideline, and split up into blocks for the Greek system, right? If so, then I think that's a big reason why the crowd is so lame. The student section is totally marginalized. You wanna know what the most shameful thing about Memorial Stadium is, to me? I felt more at ease screaming for the 'Skers when I went to Manhattan this year than I ever have in Memorial Stadium. I've been to probably 20-25 home NU games, and I always felt like I had to ask permission to stand up and yell during a big play, or during a big 3rd down. I was told to sit down several times. Have you guys ever been to a game at Arrowhead? If not, go sometime and take notes. Show up for the tailgating. That's how you do it.
  15. What a half-baked piece of trash. Man, he really blew that case wide open! Read the comments on that page. Dude is getting hammered, and deservedly so.
  16. So does he get 10+ catches and only 1 drop this week? Maybe a special teams TD? He followed up the Texas game w/ 9 catches and only 1 or 2 drops, plus a 100 yd KR at OK ST.
  17. He really outdid himself this weekend. Just when I think it can't possibly get any worse, he makes a mistake that's more boneheaded and costly than his last one. It's one thing if he's keeping his WR job for his blocking. It's another thing to keep him out there on kickoff. Just put somebody back there that will catch it and take a damn knee. The only sure thing about Niles Paul is that if he "tries to make a play," he will EFF UP BIG-TIME.
  18. That's not what "people" in general will say, but that's probably what morons will say.
  19. I think everybody would have a different opinion of our defensive line if the linebackers and safeties made more tackles on first contact. Crick deserves more support.
  20. Here's something I don't understand... Why did they wait until freaking WEDNESDAY to announce this? They have, what, like ONE MORE DAY of real practice this week before the biggest game of the season? I'm sure the coaches would have liked to get a few other guys more reps in light of one of the most important special teams players, and 2nd string LB (where we are already thin) being completely unavailable for action. EDIT: I just read on the Journal Star that NU got a letter about this on Monday. The decision wasn't official until today, I guess.
  21. No reason to hate the Gabbert kids. Don't worry about it. Chase Daniel, on the other hand...
