  1. If you read the article carefully, the writer is actually making the case for the top 64 teams (by profit margin) to leave the NCAA and form a new entity. He then splits those 64 teams into 4 conferences while trying to maintain as many current conference ties as possible.
  2. ESPN has quick preview of B12 spring practices. I didn't see another thread on it so... Here's the link: link Part on NU:
  3. I know you're just reporting what you've heard (pun intended), but not even the coaches know who will and won't redshirt next season. It usually takes until the middle of the season to see which injuries get which frosh on the field. Let's wait until the end of fall camp to treat these rumors with any amount of credibility.
  4. I was just going to ask that... but it looks like she's a KSUcks fan... Zammers is a TCU fan, and that's a TCU uniform.
  5. TO said in an article he was making less than $200k when he retired. The article was last year sometime, probably when Bo got the raise last year.
  6. CU's athletic dept. is in real financial trouble. They might need booster support just to keep the few sports they have now. Even though they're having trouble selling tickets, they keep raising the prices to try and make up the loss they have now. And with their teams doing poorly, sales keep slipping. Look for CU to drop another pair of sports in the next couple years unless things turn around soon.
  7. So using those numbers, NU would make about $12.85 million in a 12 team Big 10 and $11 million in a 14 team Big 10. That's not 1.5 to 2 times the $9.1 million we're making now, but it is more. I think the biggest advantage would be the Big 10 network which shows a lot of sports from the conference and covers all the football games not picked by the other networks. But I fear, as others do, that our recruiting would suffer. Regardless of the academics, the Big 10 won't take NU because they'd be gaining a powerful opponent in football without much more in terms of TV eyeballs or recruiting territory. I really think Rutgers is the best choice for the Big 10 followed by Mizzou, Pitt, and then maybe NU. If the Big 10 wants to go for 14 teams then NU is in the discussion. Edit: The Big East and ACC are ripe for stealing teams right now. VT might also be a good choice for the B10. And some ACC teams bring big basketball programs with them along with recruiting areas.
  8. Also, the NCAA will take the best scores from different testings for each section to make a composite score. For example, if he scored better on math on his first test and better in reading (or whatever the sections are these days) in his second test, the NCAA will take the better math and reading scores and create a composite score as if he got the better scores during a single test. What all of that means is that he can take the test several times and work on getting a good score on only one or two sections at a time.
  9. QFT. I'd just like to win the B12 and get that monkey off our back. Whether or not that comes with MNC implications doesn't matter to me. Let's take all the B12 south lovers down a notch for next off-season.
  10. I voted Pro Style because it's the closest to a power running game without the option offense and can still pass. Like others have said, I want an offense that can adapt to our players. And I like being able to pass the ball and have defenses concerned about our passing game. Someone else mentioned Alabama's offense, but I don't like their offensive scheme. I'd rather have Alabama's o-line and a more aggressive scheme.
  11. Looks like we're recruiting against the big dog already this year. How big is that B12 title game looking right now? Even in defeat, NU came out as the perceived better team by many.
  12. So another poster refutes your statements with facts and data, and you come back with opinions and attitude. I seriously doubt you have polled enough people in Texas to make the claim that "most" think UT is a prestigious academic institution. You and the people you know might think that, but with a population over 26 million, you'd need to get the opinions of over 13 million to make your statement accurate and probably at least half a million to make it credible. And putting something in caps and calling it a fact does not make it true. Do you have any data or links to support any of the things you have said?
  13. Based on what I saw last season, I'd say Helu is slightly better at recognizing blitzes but Burkhead sticks the blitzer a little better. They're about the same as pass catchers, maybe a slight edge to Burkhead. All-in-all I'd say the difference isn't much in these 2 areas. And they're totally different types of runners, which makes them difficult to compare.
  14. I'm going to guess 60/40 in favor of Helu. I think Helu will start the games, Burkhead will come in and get the bulk of the carries mid-game, and Helu will come back and finish out strong. I've noticed that Helu is especially dangerous in the 4th quarter, but he needs to stay healthy and rested to get there.
  15. And yet MU and KU still haven't had even better than average O-lines. I really think MU could be an exceptional team if that offense had a better o-line which would allow them to run the ball on short yardage. Maybe an occasional fullback lead blocking would help. Then that defense only needs to be a bit better and MU would be a legit top 10 team with some conference championships. Instead, I get to listen to their fans talk about how great their WR's and QB's are. And then they wonder why OU worked them repeatedly. It all starts from the OL on offense, even if it's a simple concept.
  16. I'm pretty sure he was talking about the play that set up the TD where the DB fell down, allowing the long completion. No, ESPY is correct. Bo was specifically talking about the Gabbert run for a TD as the first half expired.
  17. Only one other person went this way with this thread. Great minds... I didn't even read the other posts before posting that one.
  18. Fourth quarter against Miami in the 1995 Orange Bowl. Started with Frazier being stopped for no gain. Ended with Schlesinger scoring a TD on the FB trap.
  19. Scout has already started their ratings but Rivals will come out with theirs this coming Monday. And ESPN (using Scouts Inc. which is not Scout) has put out their top 150.
  20. Just to make things a little more confusing - Griffin is just repeating what Tom Luginbill is reporting.
  21. Keep in mind that Scout and Scouts, Inc. (used by ESPN) are not the same company. No matter who it was, giving us a C+ and only 7th in the B12 is hard to believe.
  22. Because a 5* player has a 1 in 15 chance of being an All-American vs. a 1 in 145 chance across the board. I'd say his chance is even slightly better than the 1 in 15 at NU, so if he's good enough to earn that 5th star, I'm going to be a very happy camper because since he's never put on a uniform - odds are all we have to go by. Over the last 8 years that was what happened (or whatever the time frame was for that article). Past performance does not guarantee future results. And as others have said, he's still the same player no matter how the services rate him.
  23. Matt May looked pretty good before his injury. We'll have to wait and see if May and David can give us that athletic OLB we've been missing.
  24. i would think that stuff would spontaneously combust, if hung together in the closet... Nope. I can even wear a CU shirt with an NU jacket or hat. CU and NU fans sometimes spontaneously combust when they see me however...
  25. I'm not sure if I should let Crazy Joey know that I've got NU and CU gear. His head might explode. I also used to have some U of Hawaii stuff. I don't understand why it's so hard to see why people can root for more than one team.
