  1. Callahan says Castille is at the expected weight and is in good shape. He expects the weight to come down to around 245 over the course of fall camp. Culbert also said Castille is huge and runs well.
  2. I don't think anybody can offer a schollie until Sept.
  3. The coaches are probably telling him that Fischer and Harper will likely play other positions which means there are 3 LB's in this class and Demens makes 4. Besides, if you're really a top athlete who wants to get to the next level, then competition should not scare you off. That's not always the case, but some players aren't affected by the competition.
  4. I'm in section 215 - same as 2 years ago. Don't freak out about the fans. I've been to the last 4 games there and have only had some good-natured ribbing and a few cat-calls from far away. The idiot fans are extremely fair-weather so if CU's having another bad season, only the better fans will be at the game.
  5. well if he plays in that division he is probably pretty good then Keep in mind that Colorado doesn't have nearly the quality of HS football as other states. I'm not sure, but baseball might even be more popular among HS sports.
  6. I'm not an expert by any means when it comes to recruiting regulations and such, but wouldn't Fabian being a former Husker football player, paying for a current player's college, create some kind of problem w/ the NCAA? I think it's ok if they're related to the player.
  7. Case in point: in the OU game, we blitz a LB, the safeties don't stay deep enough (I think they may have bit on a play fake but not sure), and Grixby gets beat deep. Blitzing is only effective when the coverage holds and the pressure can get there. If he makes a big play for the TD in 1.7 seconds or the first down in 3.1 seconds, which is better? There's no silver bullet for which D always works.
  8. He is extremely fast both straight-line and cutting in his videos (not sure how good the competition was so it's still relative). This is a guy who is not only fast in the 40, but translates that speed onto the field.
  9. He's graduating in Dec. and will be here for spring practice, so he might be in the running for early PT. Especially with 4 seniors graduating. I'm really excited for this kid since he's still pretty raw and has amazing potential.
  10. Committed per scout: http://nebraska.scout.com/a.z?s=204&p=...amp;nid=3136380
  11. Grixby couldnt cover a practice dummy So you don't like Coz or Grixby, got it.
  12. i was impressed on the play when the mizzu QB ran up the middle 4 70 yards to score cuz coz took out all the linebackers. very impressive, or when a 295lbs NT breaks out into pass coverage leaving 2 people to rush the passer on 3rd and 22 and they convert because the QB has 6 months to find a reciever. hepulls sh#@ out of his a$$ its actually emarrasing. I suppose that goes along with the hybrid D's he ran against TTech in 05 and Mizzou in 06. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I'll take the guy who is innovative and tries to adapt.
  13. Wow, it's like being in 1990 again. Insert McBride for Cosgrove and whoever our DB's were for Grixby, Shanle, Green, and Jones, and the discussion is exactly the same. Turns out ol' McBride was putting the best players he had out there but it wasn't until he had enough speed and talent at LB and CB that he switched to the 4-3. And the rest is history. As for the topic of the thread, Cosgrove, I've been impressed with all the different scheming Coz has done against teams and with the effort of the Blackshirts against both OU and Auburn. I really think it comes down to execution, and we're just not there yet.
  14. He was trying to graduate early IIRC. Word is he'll redshirt this fall to concentrate on grades, enroll at UNL in the spring, and have 3 years to play 3.
  15. Last I think I heard is that Demens had to push his visit back to the 29th and 30th not sure if thats still the case. I still think that if we get one we will get the other. Lets hope anyways. Thanks. Hopefully we'll make a good impression and get them both.
  16. Is Demens also in Lincoln? There were early reports that they were visiting together.
  17. I find it funny (and ridiculous) that fans think they know more about this situation than Trevor's own father. [sarcasm]Yeah, I'm sure the guy isn't doing what's best for his son.[/sarcasm] I'm all for looking at stats, highlights, recruiting analysis, etc. so that we can discuss these things in the off-season when there's little football news, but this is absolutely insane.
  18. Unsubstantiated rumor is that PA has looked good at DB in 7-on-7 this summer.
  19. NU 23 USC 21 Late field goal at home gives NU the edge.
  20. I'd also like to point out that Keller is probably better for having played and lost to USC before.
  21. The players don't adjust those measurements AFAIK. I'm pretty sure it's the recruiting service staff that makes those adjustments.
  22. I was surprised at how physical Lawson was in the spring game. He's my pick as biggest surprise on offense this season.
  23. Actually, I think it will be Culbert. Maybe by B12 play Castille will be more of a factor. I expect either Mendoza or Castille to redshirt though.
  24. I am absolutely rooting for Grixby to have a stellar season. As a Husker fan, how could you not? I'm also rooting for Bowman, Jones, Asante, <insert entire roster> to have stellar seasons.
  25. By my count we only lose 3 WR's, Purify, Nunn, and Hardy. Am I missing someone?
