  1. For years we have all said we just don't have playmakers on offense. We don't have enough speed to really compete with the best when it comes to our offense. With the recent development of Chris Brooks running a 4.39 electronic 40 at NU's pro day I have to ask the question: has NU really been lacking speed on offense? Last year Lucky ran a 4.53 which is what most running backs run if you're not in the top five or better. Brandon Jackson ran a 4.41. I'll agree that Swift and Peterson were not even near fast but where was Brooks? Where was Brooks this year? Where was the wildcat w/ someone like Mendoza or Bell? Where was the creativity? Brooks was on 1620 today and I was VERY impressed to say the least. He's very humble and didn't blame a single person for not playing. However, they asked him why he didn't get on the field a lot and he said "I have no clue, I did everything I was asked to do". At this point I really have no faith in our offensive coaches. I've been saying for a long while that we have a ton of speed just standing on the sidelines that at places like Oregon, OU, USC would get on the field. I'm not saying these guys are good enough to play at places like that, but they play their speed is what I'm saying, we let ours stand. Bell, Mendoza, Brooks, all have outstanding speed and COMBINED they TOUCHED the ball 22 times all of last year. With an offense that was struggling as bad as we were last year what the hell did we have to lose? The injuries on the O line or running back or wherever had nothing to do w/ Bell and Mendoza not even touching the ball or Brooks hardly seeing the field in his time at NU. I'm almost ready to give up on the O staff right now after hearing that, but I'll still give them the benefit of the doubt and stay behind them for another year. But I ask, is it speed we need or is it new coaches?
  2. Damn 2011 is already shaping up to be an outstanding class. Considering that we already have as many commits as we did last October or November for this class and we more than likely have a five star and two four stars I can't wait to see how this class turns out. With some good work by the coaches and a national title run we could potentially have a top 10 class, maybe better.
  3. C N Red shouldn't be allowed to F'n post anymore!! That was completely gay!!
  4. I would hardly say that ND's schedule is "playing with the big dogs". They play a couple good teams a year and aside from that it's all middle of the pack teams.
  5. Damn lay off of typical! He just said he's not responsible for the validity of it and many people on here have probably done the same thing if they get sent some info let alone a copy of his FB status.
  6. Does anyone think its possible that Owa did post something like that on facebook for about 5-10 minutes knowing that husker fans were looking at his page then erased it and went to the message boards and is watching them explode. That's probably what I would do if I were in his shoes.
  7. Just mentioning but five stars are only 6.1 not 6.0, which is just a high four star. Not that it matters at all at this point but Baker wasa 6.1 five star.
  8. Ok is this fact or is this just some stupid joke that you thought would be funny? Not meaning to be rude but I just don't think that would be very funny.
  9. I really think that going from heavy sets to spread sets is something that we'll be able to do this next year. Mcneil was in the slot some this year and with the Reed and the addition of Harper who is supposedly very athletic and can run I wouldn't be surprised to see us be able to go from 3 tight to 3-4 wide in the no huddle.
  10. I'm sure you'll be beatin the beat when he commits too!
  11. I saw on rivals that Fisher visited Iowa recently, which he has an offer from. I would think that being from Omaha, his brother on the team, and NU having such an outstanding defensive staff that if we offer he'll jump on it. With that said has anyone heard anything regarding if he is getting a hard look or his abilities compared to Sean? I know he recently tore his ACL but other than that, any news?
  12. I'm a little upset that none of them moved up either, but if we are nit picking then I believe Ashburn moved up from a 5.5 three star to a 5.6 three star. Not a lot but it's a minor jump. I am very shocked Guy didn't move up at all. He has a hell of a long offer list and his highlights are amazing.
  13. Haha as brave as anyone can be typing smart-a$$ comments knowing that there's nothing that anyone can do about it besides ban him.
  14. Ok so now I'm confused. When Crabtree was on 1620 the other week he said that he was dropped bc of his play at guard in the AA game and also just not a lot of guards are rated very highly so he was dropped. Then they rate him as an OT? Doesn't make much sense to me.
  15. I realize they haven't done a lot in their time in the NFL. Anderson had one solid year but they are both probably better than Bulger or whoever they have starting at any given time. Like I said they need a ton of help all over the board but it seems they need to start with a qb. They have drafted two animals for the d line the last couple years in Carriker and Long and that hasn't gotten them very far in the win column. I kinda look at it like what the texans did. They built up their D as well as they could even picking Williams ahead of Bush then going out and getting Shaub.
  16. What pick do Browns have? I could see them getting rid of either Quinn or Anderson and improving St. Louis immediately. St. Louis needs so much but first and foremost I think they need a quality starter at QB then build around that guy.
  17. Ok does anyone have any updates from the in-school that Cooper and Sanders had?
  18. I'm with HuskerBruin...we don't NEED to offer anyone that doesn't have any other D1 offers. Just bc he's from nebraska doesn't mean that we have to keep him here. I do think that its always best to keep your talent in state but in a year where we just don't have a lot of schollies to give out why give one to a recruit over someone else who is more deserving just bc the kid is from Nebraska? If we are looking at Marsh as an athlete and will probably end up at safety why wouldn't we try to get Cooper first? It's almost like people want Marsh to get an offer bc he's a nebraska kid but everyone was upset about the cotton offer. What's the difference? Marsh's stats?
  19. Oh ya!!! I completely forgot about him. We really are building something special on defense, I just hope that Wats can get that O figured out.
  20. Ya I agree that I feel pretty burned by the late recruiting pushes we have tried to make in the last handful of years. On top of the ones just mentioned guys like Devin Ross, Jonas Mouton, AJ Wallace, JB Walton, Perrish Cox, Shareece Wright, Charles Deas, Rulon Davis, David Ross and Chris Perry. With that said, I also stated in another post that Pelini has done a much better job at sealing the deal late in the process in just his two years than Callahan did in his four. In just the last two years Pelini has gotten PJ Smith, Dennard, Burkhead, Compton, Meredith, and Ankrah pretty late in the process. I think a lot of that is just his defensive background, but I also think that when he goes into the homes parents sense a realness about him and know that their son will be taken care of during his time here. I think when Cally got in front of them parents felt the complete opposite and maybe saw that he wasn't as genuine and didn't care a ton for them as a person. I do remain pretty optomistic that we will nab Owa.
  21. FWIW I just looked at Coopers rivals page and FSU is now listed as "low" interest with no visit date scheduled anymore. I really thought we were out of this one but I must admit its starting to look really good for us again. I don't think this is just another safety for this class I think this could be an Earl Thomas/Taylor Mays TYPE player for us in the future. I'm not saying he's going to be as great as those guys are but I def. think that he could be a great one. With him and Smith punishing WR's from the safety positions and Green and Middleton at the corners our secondary could stay very good for quite some time.
  22. Thanks EZ that was the segment. I guess to me they are one in the same. If you're taking a play/s off then your work ethic isn't where is should be. I bet Suh would tell you the same thing that he wasn't working as hard as he should have even 3/4 of the way through his junior year. I'm not talking character or off season work ethic, but on field motor/work ethic are pretty close to the same IMO. But I do 100% agree that Bo willl get him whipped into shape.
  23. So did we move on from Simek? Looking at his rivals profile it says he's a solid verbal to TT but then Miss St is "medium" interest and NU and all of the others are at "none". Maybe the coaches are just holding the spots for a qb, Cooper and Owa and if they don't get those three they'll move on to next year.
  24. They also have to differ in something bc whats the point of joining scout if they are the exact same as rivals or the other way around? I agree that is one reason why you can't put allll your stock on rankings.
  25. I was listening to Crabtree speak about Okuyemi a while back and he was saying that the reason he's not rated higher is bc he takes a lot of plays off and doesn't show the want to needed to be a four or five star so to say. He did say that he is a very good player with very good upside if he gets his motor more in gear. He also said he is a steal of a three star if he gets a better work ethic. I agree though, his highlights are pretty outstanding. I think he shows damn good acceleration and strength.
