  1. Ya I'm not thinking he's gone yet. He has to really like what he sees from us and our coaches. If he doesn't end up coming here I think it will come down to either his relationship with Stoops or more of a night life.
  2. O'Hanlon probably did have better stats, but Turner is a four year contributor and two year starter and had a pretty damn good senior year. He had I think 6 sacks as a frosh and maybe 4 more as a sophmore in backup roles and had a decent junior year on a terrible defense. The combine isn't everything though it is a very good indicator on what players are looking like they will get drafted. I think I heard a stat last year that of the players that get invited to the combine something like 90% get drafted.
  3. I am completely shocked that Turner didn't get an invite!! I am hoping he gets a late invite bc I think he can be a contributor on an NFL team.
  4. I'm not an insider but I just feel like we will miss out on this guy. I just get the impression that he was not all that impressed with what NU had to offer outside of football and he is looking for something more. No inside info just a "gut feeling".
  5. I will hold my opinion until I see Crick as the "Suh" of the team and taking on double/triple teams and still making the plays that Suh made. Suh had freakish strength in that he could single handed throw 300 lb OL out of the way then go make the play five yards away. Suh is without a doubt one of the best (top 5) defensive players of all time in college football. If we have a guy that is better than that the very next year I will be astonished.
  6. Ya I am not saying that we don't get prospects from Oregon or big ten country bc we did get Suh and we even got Heard this year and Ankrah last year. All I am saying is that it is very difficult to work your way in to places like that.
  7. No doubt, I am actually very, very shocked that we didn't get more big time players this year. Guy, Rome and David are very good prospects but I would have thought w our showing the last 7 games that we would have had people breaking down the doors to get on board. I think this will show up in full force for next years class and beyond.
  8. I have no problem with going after kids in any region but to me this is like going into big ten country yet harder. With two pretty solid in state schools along with the California schools its pretty rare they leave the west coast.
  9. Wow you have to like his excitement about NU offering.
  10. It also looks like we are getting our texas offers out early this year. I think the coaches learned a valuable lesson last year in not taking a vacation as early as they did last year. I'm not raggin on them, just that recruiting is becoming an earlier gig than before and a lot of them are committing before/during summer even.
  11. I really believe Reed will be a husker when its all said and done. I'm not sure how close he and his brother are but you have to think that helps a little. With the way NU is playing and the hype that we are getting and the proximity bt him and NU one would think it won't be long and he will jump on board.
  12. Whatever, if he wants to be a husker then he wants to be a husker but anymore I'm going with Pelini on if you don't want to be N then fine we are going to win without you. I thought it sucked when Carter and Gabbert decommitted only to find out that Enunwa is a hell of a player and then we land Bell, and then we are in on some very good qbs in Carnes and Colter. If Cooper wants to be a husker then great I would love to see him N but if he doesn't then we will win with Osborne, Smith, Washington and Jackson at his position. I'm sure that Rippy, Mohler, and several others are looking at our team wishing they would have stuck with their committment the last couple years.
  13. It may very well be Dennard next year too as I think he is going to be outstanding!
  14. Ya what does he run like a 4.7? I really think this kid is going to be the next stud DL. I think the winter conditioning will have him at about 295 of good weight and he will be ready to rock next year.
  15. Oh I absolutely have as well. He was one of the players I wanted most in this class. I'm just saying that since he has done some more interviews for the OWH and 1620 I have gotten even more excited.
  16. I don't think he looks like Frazier but he does seem to have the "it" factor. The thing that impressed me the most about his highlights was how he stood in the pocket or rolling out for that matter knowing he was going to get lit up and still delivered a strike.
  17. I haven't been able to see a lot of Heard's films but from what I can tell he is more of an inside runner who can take it the distance. With Jones I think he is more in the reggie bush type mold where he is better on sweeps/tosses, screens, check down type plays where he is in the open field and use his speed which is his biggest asset by far. Just my opinion but I don't see a ton of similarities at this point, but like I said I haven't seen a ton of him either. I guess if I had to compare him to someone it would be a guy like Chris Brown from OU.
  18. To me it sounds like on Carnes visit they will offer him and tell him he has about a day or two to commit and if he doesn't then they will offer Colter who will most likely commit on the spot. I could be wrong but that's just the vibe I get.
  19. Not to say that he doesn't have to get stronger and improve technique wise but to say he's got a lot of pounds to put on even if he is going to be a DT. Crick and Baker are both at or below his weight currently. I think he is going to benefit drastically, both him and Guy are, from being here for winter and spring. Like Carl was saying last year, D Line is about reps so the more you can get the better. I actually am looking for both Guy and Rome to come in and fight for PT at DT right away. I heard T Moore was hurt for a lot of the year but he still hasn't impressed me at any point he's been on the field. That leaves us with Baker, Crick, and Randle in the middle. I didn't include Pensic bc I don't think he's at the weight he needs to be yet. I think one of Guy and Rome, if not both, will be in on the rotation next year, if at least to spell Crick and Baker for a series here and there.
  20. There is another article regarding Rome on huskerpedia.com and the more I hear from this kid the more excited I get. He has a certain hard nosed, attitude about him that not many kids his age have. He is almost like a quiet killer in a sense that the article makes him sound and even the way he is quoted like he can just turn a switch on and off like its no big deal. I am really looking forward to what Rome can do this coming fall.
  21. Not be a downer but there is maybe a 1% chance that we would even be in the running for any of their recruits.
  22. With Carrol probably going to Seattle I don't think he ends up there.
  23. Maybe he already committed but he just wants to have his little five min. of fame at his school or something like that. Just something to remember as the time he committed (for the second time). I agree with EZ there is no way we just pass on very quality players in Colter and Simek for one very quality player. I think he more than likely committed but just wants to keep it under wraps.
  24. Ya I watched him a few times this year and he is a flat out beast! I can't imagine that our D-Line could have been much better this year but having a talent like him couldn't have hurt.
  25. I just really fear that Texas will get him in the end. It's not very often that a top tier Texas kid gets away from them and if they do they almost always go to LSU or OU since it's a lot closer. I'm hoping that our relationships with Green can push him over the top and we can have a hell of a year next year for the icing on the cake, but I am still pretty fearful.
