  1. so spin masters are at work.
  2. i dont see their pr dept, chip brown and bebee, clobbering us. to me they seem like the kid who controlled the game, then somebody stood up to them, and they took their ball and went home to mommie because the other kids were not playing fair. texas has been making all the white noise while nebraska has been quiet, like they siad they would be...we have nothing to say until the big 10 makes some kind of anouncement.
  3. sorry that i didnt even read a post before posting this....but there is no way that i would want to have nebraska be a member of the XII. the way that the powers that be used the media in texas to put out disingenious stories about nebraska, the way the legislature in texas is deaste in demanding that baylor be included leaves a bad taste. i see where chip brown has started to back off his rhetoric and saying how good the relationship between texas and nebraska are at the upper levels of administration. purposefully naming perlman and above. this just does not sit right....the dissing of osborne and trying to bullying the process. well the rest of the big XII will get what they deserve.
  4. there is no way that stanford votes for tech, okie state, and oklahoma. now the texas legislature is saying that baylor has to go....man they get rumors to move fast down there. today should be an interesting day.

    Enough!

Talk about living up to your user name. This move would be worth it for the CIC money alone and if you don't agree with that you don't understand what schools are about. Remember that UNL is and always will be an academic institution first. this may help some understand about the possible move being very valuable to nebraska- this is the link to the CIC http://www.cic.net/Home.aspx CIC- committee on institutional cooperation.....it is a consortium of the big 10 and the university of chicago, which was a founding member of the big 10. it recieves 6 BILLION in funded research 12% of the federal research funds 18% of the national science foundation total 15.7% of the usda total remember osborne will have his say in the matter but the people deciding this matter, if we get an invite, will be the chancellor and president of the university. i think what is holding texas back is the last word in cic.
  6. sounds very familiar.....texas could be 2 for 2 in ruining conferences because they have to have their way.
  7. does seem to be alot of saber rattling going.....chip brown has been on espn radio with every show today and tonight. alot of revisionist history of the last 4 months going on.....texas only acting in their best interests....what does he think nebraska is doing. i wonder if barry alvarez or graham spanier(sp?) at penn state have been called.
  8. sounds like you may need to plan an extra day of travel. i live in nebraska and have to leave on friday to make a home game. i'm really feeling your pain.
  9. what i really dont understand is how nebraska is being made out to be the bad guy....mainly by the media. this must be the texas media circling the wagons around their own cash cow....because if the email released by the columbus dispatch are to be believed, and i dont know why they wouldn't, it sounds like texas was shopping itself around the past couple of months. if texas was out looking for the best deal why shouldn't everybody else. these guys are almost good enough to be in washington. doulbe dealing and it soulds like playing the middle against every body else. dodd comes out and says that "we'll finish it", meaning the conference. yet they were exchanging emails looking for the best deal. i think, feel, half the stuff put out by the big 12 south is done just to soothe their egos and put the blame on nebraska. they dont care about mizzou, sorry frodaddy, it seems like they need their fall guy and the rest of the big 12 media has decided its nebraska. i'll be glad when this is over and the whole story comes out with a timeline, probably never happen though.
  10. it makes you wonder when you look at the timeline and events. what was it three weeks ago the big 12 had the meeting with the pac 10 to discuss a jiont venture in a tv network. it almost sounds like beebe was sharing his conference with the pac 10 at least the southern half. he could not be that stupid to make the remarks about who is on the plane.....and then have this happen without some knowledge or sense of it going on. but he always said that he was friends with delaney and smith.....sounds like those two paid attention when they watched the godfather.
  11. i just cant see stanford voting for oklahoma, oklahoma state, and tech to get invites to join the pac-10.
  12. here's sipples article on todays big 12 meetings http://www.huskerextra.com/
  13. I disagree. What I got from it is that T.O. is conceding whatever decisions to Perlman and will support it. So I'm going with IF the Big Ten extends an invite, Perlman will be the one to accept or reject the offer. I'd be willing to bet that Perlman would accept a Big Ten offer for reasons already mentioned in various other threads. ACADEMICS. the money that is in the cic makes the big 10 tv network look like my kids piggy bank. the sharing of research, research grants, and prestige that goes along with being a member of the big 10 and cic is what is going to drive the decision.
  14. he reminds me alot of jared tomich.
  15. here is a blog from frank the tank that goes in depth about expansion and has some nice things to say about the big red http://frankthetank.wordpress.com/ the first article and the fifth article talk about expansion.
  16. i wonder what the question that beebe will ask texas as far as what their plans are......they havbe been linked to the big 10(dienhart tweet), specualtion on the sec and the pac-10. nothing more than nebraska and mizzou have been brought up by the media.

    Texas

let texas go independent.....while everybody else is tied up in conference games from the end of sept through the first weekend of dec they will have fun trying to scheduling somebody inside the top 64 to 70 teams.
  18. no.....the winner of each pod in the conference would get seeded into a 16 team field
  19. and if you have 4 16 team conferences with 4 4 team pods that sets up a playoff system very nicely.... or it gives you the and 1 game and pretty much would keep the bowls around in either system.
  20. dont really care if we play any of the old big 8 teams if this move does happen. once your gone your gone. as far as the oklahoma game that game was killed by the big 12.
  21. with the stunning silence coming out of the big 12 offices does this mean that the big 12 commish is just going to let the conference get tore up and then get some job in the longhorn television network. i've heard the news about the big 10, pac 10, the sec and the acc all expanding....but nothing about the big 12. the only news there is that the longhorns might be going independent. which i dont understand. there is a world outside of texas with alot of people who want to see the demise of the horns. i think that the huskers possibly going to the big 10 is very good on alot of levels, and anybody that says that $$$$$ doesn't matter needs to get out of the fifites. hopefully perlaman and osborne find us a nice landing place and really what would be better than the big 10.....we were once considered for membership in 1946.
  22. some of those blocks reminded me of john hannah.
  23. 454 miles or 9 hours....it hasn't taken that long since the speed limit was 55.
  24. anybody care to put into percentages what our chances are of getting mr. scarlett to nebraska? scarlett, williams, shazier, and rasco, seem to be the most impressive on film.
