That makes a lot of sense. Cali's recruiting would eventually come to an end. Guys want to play in an NFL style offense, but at what point do recruits want to be on a winning team year in and year out? I don't think it would take too long for them to see through this transparent staff.

I was a supporter at first. I thought he fit the nebraska image and I liked the idea of a more pass-oriented offsense. I had high hopes for this year, but the results speak otherwise. The experiment didn't work, so all we can do now is part ways and move on with things.

I'm not concerned about recruiting at all. We were bound to lose some anyway the way the team was playing.

Next year he'll be some lacky offensive coordinator in the NFL. And whenever the announcers point him out, they'll say he's the guy who tanked nebraska football.

Bullsh$t. Frank was inept and in way over his head in his handling of a team at this level. Just because his successor is ever worse certainly doesn't excuse FS from taking a top tier team and running it into the ground anymore than HCBC is excused from taking a mediocre team and turning it into a bottom ten contender. I guess you and I will just disagree on that point, then. I don't think Frank took a top tier team and ran it into the ground. What do you call 7-7 then? I don't know, a non-winning season?? A bowl game season? What do you call it? He was told to fix it, and the next year they went 10-3. He only gets official credit for 9-3, but his team went 10-3. What's wrong with that? What do you call 5-6? How about 70-10? How about 4 teams hanging 40 on us in 1 season? Do you think firing Frank was a step FORWARD?? There's the issue with Solich, you shouldn't have to tell a Husker coach to "Fix it". The expectations at this program are common knowledge and shouldn't have to be spoonfed to a coach. I'm not defending Callahan, but I don't think we'd be that much better with Solich. There's a reason he's coaching in the MAC. Even in 2003, we were still embarrased against Mizzou, Texas, and K-State. Look at Bo Pelini's mighty defense yesterday against Kentucky. The program needed a change, and it turns out that Callahan isn't the answer, so it's time to move on. If you want to have the "I told you so" attitude, that's fine by me. No one's opinion is going to fix the mess we're in now.

And he had a lot of off-the-field issues that led to him being fired. There's more to it than his final season's record. Remember, this is the guy who was found slumped over his steering wheel drunk and claimed that he was given the date rape drug. This was classless, imagine if TO did this, we'd all lose respect for him, and rightfully so. The program deserved someone with more integrity than FS.

And that is what REALLY sucks. At least when we had the bad year(s) under solich, we at least got discussed... now it's just... ugh. They talk bout the Central Florida and Southern Florida matchup... I know that one or the other of those are ranked, but just the fact that they're ahead and more important than UNL... it kind of makes me sick inside. And how many more bad years under Solich would it take for ESPN to consider us irrelevant? The slide started under his reign and continues.

I still love the Huskers more than I can ever explain. I am just really disappointed right now as is everyone with the direction that we are going. At the beginning of the season we thought we had the Big XII this season. Now we know we will be lucky to get to the game. you are a spoiled fanbase. You expect to have things your way 100% of the time without working hard to get it. you think you are the football gods, but you have become a joke. you have forgotten what it takes to be a great footbal school and the college game has passed you by, leaving you, the fans, with a stupid look on your faces as to say" why doesn't anyone like us anymore, we are Nebrtaska damn it" Nebraska does not have the lure it used to. Nobody worth a damn wants to come to Nebraska and play, and it is showing on the field this year. you do not have the atheletes you used to, so i dont know why the "fans" think it is the coach/AD. The weather was the same in the 70s, 80s, & 90s as it is today, but we were still able to win. It took Texas 30 years to win another NC, but they were still in Texas surrounded by all the talent. USC wasn't that good in the 80s & 90s all the while surrounded by talent. You say it's not the coach/AD. Hello, it has everything to do with the coach/AD!!! I could take the most talented college team and lose every game, simply because I have no coaching experience. You must be an ISU fan.
