  1. Was thinking about a few things in general and about our program the last 4 years. Is Cally a good coach for college football, or NFL for that matter? Steve Spurrier comes to mind, he stunk it up when going to the NFL. Maybe Cally has the same phenomemon, but just reversed. Or you could argue that he's an average coach at best based on his combined college & NFL records. Pete Carroll is obviously a better college coach than NFL. Compare talent levels of the Huskers and USC. Was USC still a better team talent-wise when Carroll took over vs. the Huskers when Cally took over? How can guys like Pete Carroll and Bob Stoops take over mediocre programs and make them NC contenders in two or three years? I've always been a big Cally supporter, but his record speaks otherwise. He's going to have to beat Texas this year and win the North if he expects any vindication. We have the best facilities in college football, I'm just wandering, do we have the best coaching staff?
  2. What is it going to take to get at the level of USC? More Talent? Better Coaching? Both? For Pete's sake, it's been 10 friggin years since we won a NC and tonight showed that we're nowhere close to another one, sheesh.
  3. That is true, we were able to drive the field against their D, we just couldn't keep it up after they made adjustments. After the way Texas played today, I know we can beat them.
  4. Remember when all of the USC "fans" were UCLA fans? I do. See copy of my previous post below. USC Tradition? What tradition is that? Lose for two decades and when you finally win a championship act like you are God? Or is it the tradition of paying players, fixing grades, harboring criminals, and brushing violations under the table (I know, I know, what about LP. But he never hacked two peoples heads off). I am from Southern California. I grew up with people who went to USC. Most who go there have an entirely perverted sense of entitlement that sickens most people with any sort of social conscience. Oh, by the way…nice fan base. Five years ago there were 45,000 empty seats at a home game against a conference rival? You have got to be kidding me. And those who do claim to be fans now are left over Raider fans who have nowhere to go on the weekend to get drunk and attack visiting fans (I’m not kidding, half the USC fans, have raider tattoos under their brand new shinny #5 Reggie Bush jerseys). I can’t wait for USC to start sucking again like they did all through the `80’s and `90’s. Of course then we will have another problem. All of those “lifelong USC fans” will suddenly become “lifelong UCLA fans.” Trust me, I know this for a fact. I saw it happen in the late `80’s when Troy Aikman showed up in Westwood. I hear ya brother. The day the smug smiles come off of their faces can't come soon enough.
  5. they got lucky last year on this pick up the fumble crap. Sh*t!!
  6. By 2030, he'll be begging these people to help him get out of LA.
  7. Nobody has a chance against these guys. Not LSU, Not the Iowa Barnstormers, not the New England Patriots. That's all these guys have to say. Being an analyst must be easy, all you have to do is go with the favorite, no thought required and end of story. And Pete Carroll is the second coming of the messiah. Man, gametime can't come soon enough.
  8. I pictured him by himself in a hotel room talking on the phone. After he hung up, he was ready to order Women's Penitentiary Part IV on PPV!! Oh yeah!!!
  9. Should be more of a burrito-style runza to correctly reflect the populace.
  10. Just a break from the USC talk. We should be ok against them at home this year.
  11. PTI Around the Horn ....Even more worthless than college football live...... If we get waxed, how is the spread only 10 pts?? Why didn't they beat Idaho 100-10?? Why ask why?
  12. I agree, forcing turnovers and mistakes by them is our greatest chance to win.
  13. Glad this will be over in 3 days. Then the next time we'll play SC will be in a BCS game. Also happened to see a USC Band license plate bracket tonight on the way home. I was totally impressed
  14. He's right, we just don't have the talent/playmakers. To win, we're going to have to force mistakes and turnovers. If that doesn't happen, it'll look a lot like 2006.
  15. WHy exactly doesn't USC travel well. Honestly..... I get a feeling there to stuck up, thinking theirs nothing to do or are above coming to a town like Lincoln....now I'm looking for an honest answer, not trying to be a jerk. I grew up in New Jersey and know how "city" people think. Lincoln is a great college town....something many schools on the coasts, simply don't have anywhere. What's your feeling? Los Angelinos can't survive very long in air that's not high in exhaust fumes. Roger that! Hope they got stiffed on the price!
  16. I'm also from out here in So Cal. And you are right. The radio commentators are pretty clueless. They act as though USC is the greatest thing since toilet paper. They all seem to forget the `80's and `90's when USC played like the substance in the toilet paper. Not to mention that they could barely fill half of the coliseum.
