  1. Also my Corn brother, this was a classic, do you remember this? This is what made college football so wonderful!
  2. Finially a Husker fan that gets it. Brother, I too have had those times in my life when NU came away with a victory that could have given us a National Championship shot. It was a rivalry that was so "different" than others, not an "in state" (Bedlam) or a "Red River Shootout" (Texass), but just different, the time of year when it was held, the stakes, cause the season was winding down and the conference title was on the line. Plus it was THE fall classic at the time. You must be a ltttle bit older than the others who post on this site, Sounds like you remember the Big 8 for what it was. Too bad those days are gone. I have some close friends from your state and they lament over what has happened since your AD (Petersen) took over and did what he did. Now you have coaches with NO Nebraska ties AT ALL , that must be a bitter pill to swallow, since Neb, was the only program in the country with ties back to the genesis of there success...( Devany, Osborne,,home grown boys) We definatly made each other better, and I always pulled for you guys in bowl games, ( although Osborne would often disapoint me). It was common in Oklahoma not to dis-respect NU, or even have similar feelings like we have towards OSwho or Texass, or Colorado for that matter, in my mind they always played dirty (Colorado). We also never had any ill will towards Kansas or Mizzou. I know you guys want to succed and be competitive again, just like we did we Bob came to OU. I hope it happens, I'm not sure about Callihan though, and his loyalty to the College game, I'm sure time will tell after this year. I also see the heat will be more on Petersen than Callihan if things go south, but that is my observation. gOU Big Red
  3. I find the timing of your post ironic, since here in L.A. Lawrnace Phillips just went before a judge on some pretty "criminal" charges.
  4. I seem to recall OU under BS having a pretty poor reputation. No doubt BS knows how to coach football and had great players but the reputation of the coach and team left something to be desired. Respect for the skills and play, yes, but across the board no. Of course that's all history now. I recall Switz saying "if you want someone to save your kids souls, hire a preacher, if you want to win football games, hire me" I also recall Ozzy had some problem children as well.
  5. I was there for that game, I was selling 7-up and Dr. Pepper in the stands, I was in 9th grade, and I saw the clip on Joe Wylie on that play. I liked it when you guys beat the Co-Cains
  6. I can. It isn't like it was just Oklahoma video of every highlight play against NU. It wasn't a 'Nebraska Sucks' video. It's like admiring the success of a brother you grew up fighting with. Great video. Great mix of old/new images and set to the music seamlessly. Just because we are Husker fans doesn't mean we can't appreciate the pride and tradition that exists at Oklahoma. When you say Big 12, people think of Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colorado among others. If any team 'stands out' with the new conference it is Texas. But when you think back to the days of the Big 8, there are only two names that overwhelmingly come to mind.... Nebraska and Oklahoma. AMEN
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWOE6LvlKMs&NR You guys were talking hits awhile ago on this forum, there are some good ones in this! Also some important history that includes you guys. For those of you who are young and didn't experience this time in History, sit back, and take a look and see how we did it. gOU Big Red

  9. http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.db...p;ATCLID=898255 I remember ol' "run it up Ozzy" used to say OU gave us something to live up to. Well, here is the latest offering. Go Big Red
  10. Scott Hill knocking out Tony Dorsett when they came to Norman in 74,
  11. I do appreciate you at least giving us some 'facts' -- as vague as they may be. Care to tell us the whole story, or at least what you know at this point in time? I personally would like to know how the woman became involved. Was she trying to break up the fight and was accidentally struck? How exactly did she get involved in all of this? I'm really enjoying this, our boards are so dull this time of year, Its nice to come over here and see all the drama. There are a lot of boards around the big 12 having fun with this one. Go Big Red
  12. This is hilarious....bad for the offense?? What about bad for the community?
  13. This happened to us a couple of years ago with Dusty Dvorchek. He pummeled one of his friends and Stoops kicked him off the team... He got his life together went through rehab and had to atone for his mistakes. But hitting a female...What if it was one of your daughters? I would be very surprised if Bill kicked him off, but he did kick off Incognito....But he wasn't one of his boys.
  14. I wonder how much it cost to pay those 3 cream puffs in 09? You guys have a tough one this year with Wake, and Nevada gave Miami a strong go last year. And the Condoms. We are playing one of your staples in Utah State this year, what a joke.
  15. Yeah, and everyone jumped on K-State for Synders opponents?
  16. Gee, I wonder why they would do that?
  17. Go back to Norman! You have got to be joking! I have been to a game at Hillbilly U and there is no comparison to a game in Lincoln. We have 276? consecutive sell outs. How many do you have? http://www.soonerstats.com/fb/oms/attendance/game.cfm
  18. Maybe you should have removed your blackskirt. I've been heckeld in Lincoln, its everywhere. I have to say I was impressed in Eugene this year, except for the paid off reply officials, and there Pac-10 crew. They didn't show the replay ONCE. The Stadium in Phoenix is loud as hell, but it is indoor, and that has a lot to do with it. I'm sure when you guys play the Buff's in its loud in Boulder and Lincoln.
  19. When I have gone to games in Lincoln I thought I was in an old folks home. I have never seen so many silver hairs in all my life. Folks up there don't let there tickets go. Hince the reason they have to blare rock music when the opposing teams have the ball and turn it down right before they snap it. to "simulate crowd noise" And your student section is smaller than ours. I would have to say the loudest stadium in the Big 12 is Kyle field in College Station Texas. Also when I was there , in Lincoln there were empty seats next to me the whole game, and a few around me as well. I don't buy the "sellout" myth. I 'm sure all the tickets were sold, but I'm wondering why there were not butts in those seats? Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed seeing games up there, and you guys are a proud bunch, for sure, but you should take in a game in Norman against OSWho, or the Biggest game in football, the OU-Texass match-up. We don't need Rock music between plays.
  20. Its sounds like you haven't been to Owen Field in Norman yet. Its good in Lincoln, but I would hold off on throwing all of my eggs in one basket VA. Check it out.
  21. That's pretty ugly. Sorry to hear about that. I pray for the girl, for healing and justice.
  22. You guys are kinda touchy, I didn't come in here to S@#T stirr you all, just to have some conversation. If Stoops call a recruits mom, I wouldn't like it. In fact Stoops really wanted the QB that you guys have now. He called about 10 times trying to talk to his dad and change his mind. I heard the interview with Travis, his is not a EDITED FOR CONTENT READ THE RULES NOT EVEN IN THE WOODSHED DO YOU USE SLURS --RAWHIDE, but seems to be real level headed and knows what he wants. Evidently he should have let Bill know earlier but like he said, he would call and then get cold-feet. He wanted to be closer to home. And by the way we are not hillbillys, we are rednecks. Hillybillys are in the hills in the SEC conference. Can you imangine Osborne indicting a fan base like that. When a coach blasts a fan base he is blasting the whole conference. Ames? Stoolwater? Lawrance? Manhattan? Lubbuck? College Station? even Lincoln, not bastions like Chicago where Bill is from. But anyway I didn't start the name calling, you guys did. I have always enjoyed discussing football through the years with Neb fans, I guess this has changed too. Hey, we have had our share of problems, you bet. There is no one without sin .
  23. Callahans character. We were lucky to get Shields. Had Switzer still been around, he'd a been a Sooner. They were going through rough times there which got us over the hump. That was the reason he fled. Yeah good ole Switzer! I'm sorry I don't have a photo of Lawrance Phillips beating the crap out of his girlfriend and then dragging her by her hair down the stairs. maybe you can find it at the Lincoln PD. archives. Hey there "mobilehoma"fan.....I bet I can find 20 stories of Sooner players in trouble over the years. Try again junior! The same with your program "bugman"
