  1. Your right, however all of those schools are in a different state and city. Different states and cities have different rules. Hell, in Texas and Louisiana you can have an open container.
  2. Totally agree, speed beats size anyday on defense. We need to go for a speed based defense, downsize our linebackers and DE's and bring in speed. I think we would see a dramatic improvement
  3. Thats just wrong, i dont want someones foot fungus in my drink, or whatever dog sh*t they stepped in either.
  4. haha Ive thought about trying that that's a nice idea. any idea where I could find one of those? One word........."Camelbak"
  5. I went to ISU and the tailgate there is a free-for-all. You can have beer and liquor in plain sight. My theory is at ISU the stadium isnt in the middle of town and it is wide open so the police can kinda contain everyone to the parking lot. At UNL though it is right in the middle of town and the people are spread out all over town, and if you walk from tailgate to tailgate with a beer you have to cross the street and go through town, where as at ISU you are all in the same parking lot. As far as putting it in a glass, I have always understood that as an unwritten rule between you and the police. As long as your not dumb and dont give them probable cause by having a can in your hand, which technically is an open container, you can keep it in a cup and that will give them the ability to ignore it, because who's to say it isnt something other than beer. But in the end you never really know, because you may have some police who just got f'ed with and dont really feel like respecting the unwritten rule. And as far as alcohol in the stadium, i always pack a flask to keep the buzz throughout the game.
  6. I agree with most of your post, but you must remember that Notre Dame did have someone in mind and tried to lure him aggressively (Urban Meyers). Florida was also trying to lure him there. In the end, he turned down his supposed dream job at Notre Dame for Florida. It made Notre Dame look foolish for a while. Just because we may have had someone in mind, doesn't mean they would take the job considering the circumstances. The biggest reason we didn't have many/any people interested in the job were because of the circumstances under which Solich was fired. If you're a big name coach out there, why would you want to come into a program that just fired a coach with a 75% winning percentage that finished the year ranked #17? He was Big 12 coach of the year 3 times. Nobody in their right mind wants to jump into that kind of fire. Wanstedt would have been remarkably worse than BC. I really don't think there is any debating this. Look at what stellar job he's done at Pitt. He's ruined every team he's ever been a head coach at. It took the Bears a lot of years to recover from Wanstedt. Before him, they made a BCS bowl. Now, they don't make bowls. Houston Nutt is a horrible coach but good recruiter. Sound familiar? He simply used the NU job as a bartering chip with Arkansas. If Arkansas had any balls at all they'd can his ass because he's a horrible coach. If BC is fired at the end of this year, I don't think we'll have many/any coaches beating down the door for the job. However after 5 or 6 years and we're still struggling to crack the top 25, yeah I think we could get a big name coach to come in here. It's going to cost probably 2.5 million or better, but we could easily pluck a great one to come here. If BC is fired, I just hope Pud has the decency and intelligence to find our next coach. I hope he used some restraint and has learned something from his last dibacle. If he hires Norv Turner, I'll sh#t myself! I dont think we have to worry about BC being fired at the end of this year, as a matter of fact i hope we dont have to worry about that. Cally doesn't deserve to be canned yet, however there has to be something done about the DC. Usually HC heads dont roll untill the coordinators have been changed and there is still no improvement.
  7. Whoa...um...there were quite a few folks in the mix. Houston Nutt, Sean Peyton, Bo Pelini, Turner Gill--all of them were either approached and/or interviewed for the job. Honestly, I was hoping that they would have hired Turner Gill, but I was happy with the Callahan hire. I didn't see why they would have went after Nutt, and considering Bo's past (never stayed more than two years w/a team, if I recall correctly), I was more than hesitant to give the reigns to Bo (though I would had liked him to stay on as DC...especially now.) What i meant by "Unfortunately there really wasn't anyone else in the mix" is we didnt have another coach lined up. We had guys we thought would like the job, but it turns out they didn't want to touch it with a ten foot pole. We didn't have 3 guys who all wanted it and we were able to chose from that pool of coaches. We got screwed becuase Pud fired a guy without approaching others behind the scene about their interest in the job. Had Pud approached other coaches before he got fire happy this deal would have ended differently I'm sure. But instead we fired a guy, didn't have anyone lined up, then scrambled for a few months because no one wanted the position and finaly got someone last second. That being said I think we ended up pretty well. I am by no means unhappy with Callahan. I think he has done a decent job considering the sh*t storm he walked into that was only created by non-other than our fabulous(sp) AD.
  8. Unfortunately there really wasn't anyone else in the mix. Callahan was our only option because, our AD didnt think his firing of solich through. He didn't have anyone lined up to take the position so we spent 4 months trying to find a coach. Note to Pud: When firing a coach, you should always have someone lined up already to take his place. As far as I know Pud didn't offer the job to Pelini so he left, which is the dumbest thing ever. I still don't understand why Pud didn't offer him the job. The guy was a defensive guru, and last i checked defense wins championships. You can always bring in someone to run the offense, but defense is what gets it done. And now this thread will turn into Solich v Callahan and how much we hate Pud. I think this is the 3,393,678,498,801,001 thread on this.
  9. I would have to completely agree. We are stuck in a division of our conference where beating these teams does us no good, unless we crush them by 24 pts everytime. It seems we have everything to lose and nothing to gain by playing these teams.
  10. Obviously the more points we score the happier people would be. I think the main grip is still the defense. They did play better or seemed to play better, but alot of that could be the horrendous offense ISU has. I noticed the linebackers managed to stay home more which is good. Its amazing how easy it is to stop misdirection if the linebackers stay home.
  11. I got to see Elton John and Billy Joel when they were in concert together. It was pretty impressive.........however any Husker game still prevails in the coolness factor, even if it is a loss.
  12. Yeah i am going to probably miss most of it. I am in my buddy's wedding, however he is an Iowa fan. The game will be going on during the reception, hopefully i can find a t.v. or i may have to go to the car and catch updates.
  13. One of the few who truly knew what it meant to strap on that helmet with the N. Wish we could have 22 of him playing.
  14. This is a sick joke right.............I mean how much sh*t can happen to one man. This is unbelievable. I really feel for the guy, i can't imagine what he is going through. I wouldn't wish this upon anybody.......well maybe Osama Bin Laden. Prayers are with ya Mo P.
  15. Our coverage teams have been pretty solid so far and Grixby has been oh-so-close to breaking a return for a touchdown a few times this year. I have a feeling he'll get one soon... Considering we havent have kick returned for a TD in like 3 years, i would say we are due for one and why not this week. I think this game is going to be extremely high scoring. I would say 100-99 NU comes out on top.
  16. If the Blackshirts are ever to mean anything agian, NU has to bring someone from that era in as DC. Otherwise they will continue to be a joke, and if that is the case i would us rather just get rid of them than disgrace what it means.
  17. We should pull out 3 of the 4, with the toss up between TX and MU.
  18. Waaaaaaaayyyy to much. I sat in section 20 row 57 for the isu game, row 95 has to be about the last row.
  19. Oh don't worry. It will only be like this for a week....then after we BEAT Missery they will disappear, just as Iowa St. idiots on here! But then you can look forward to Ok. St. fans next week! It will continue all season man...best thing to do is ignore it! Yeah then when we lose a few will stick around and take cheap digs at us. (i.e. USC fan)
  20. Thats fine if you want to pull scoreboard, how bout we own this series 63-34, which also includes a forfeit by you guys. That means MU would have to win 29 straight years for you to pull scoreboard on us...............good luck with that.
  21. Seems to me someone lost to ISU last year........and it wasnt NU. So why don't you tell us how good they are?
  22. I thought Cyclone Clyde was hysterical, this guy makes Clyde about as funny as cancer.
  23. BEER........helping missouri fans cope with their feable existence since 1821.
  24. Are you going to the Game? Saturfday> I need a ticket for me. Give me a call an we can agree on cost and have some beers> Tuffie, you need to listen up. I have read some of your other posts. The last thing you need is more beer, from what i can tell you have a problem with alchohol, or whatever kool-aid you have been drinking has meth mixed in with it. Why don't we meet up and i can get you into a clinic to take care of this problem.
