  1. last notion. Many feel that we'll really miss Ganz. Maybe. But I'm not so certain that his replacement will be inferior (perhaps early on somewhat, but by seasons end, whoever it is at QB should be good). And if the D and especially the special teams are better, than we'll be OK. If our QB happens to be really good from day one, well.... we'll go places. I agree with many of the above sentiments. There are plenty of question marks, but we should be a better team. The encouraging thing is, we saw improvement through last season and we can expect that to continue. Now about Ganz. I don't think we'll miss his skills. He didn't have a great arm, nor was he an exceptionally good runner. We all remember the bonehead interceptions; we won't miss that! However, unless one of the QBs really steps up, I think we'll miss his heart. He was a great leader on the field. He shook off the bad plays and didn't get intimidated by anyone. He had the willingness to do whatever it took to win. He was one of the toughest Huskers the last two years. Its that attitude and toughness that made him a fan favorite (one of my favorite Huskers as well), and that will be tough to replace.
  2. I agree. The Big 12 has gone soft on defense, and we could vault to the very top of this conference with a great defense. I will be shocked if we don't win the North next year, and I would not be surprised if we win the Big 12 title game next year. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we have the top D in the Big 12 this fall. So much of the team's success though will hinge on what the new QB can do. Otherwise, it will be a lot like 2003...good defense but an O that couldn't move the ball against a defense with a pulse.
  3. I think this game may look a lot like the Gator Bowl, with 2 tough defenses slugging it out. I really believe we'll be able to keep Tech's O from scoring many points. If we can avoid the stupid mistakes and turnovers we should be in the game with a chance to win in the fourth quarter.
  4. I picked Frazier...for now. If Tebow has another year like this one, I'd have to give him the nod.
  5. I agree...but I never would have guessed Correll Buckhalter to last as long as he has. So I guess you never know.
  6. No wonder fans of other teams think we're delusional.
  7. OK, I hate the Gators. I'm sick of the deluge of ball-washing that Urban Meyer and Tebow get from the Media. But, I have to admit that Tim Tebow has put himself in the conversation of the greatest college QBs of all time (not THE greatest; not better than Frazier). He may or may not be a great pro, but that doesn't discount what he has been able to accomplish. So we're comparing one of the greatest college players of all time with a guy that arguably wouldn't crack the all time top-5 NU QBs...Yeah, I think he could have started for the Huskers.
  8. Did Wald play on ST this year or RS? If he RS then they must have thought enough of him to hold him back so they had him all 5 years; if not, you are likely correct. Of course everyone on this board loves a wedge buster. Wald is a hellacious hitter and seems to play with a lot of heart. But I think he is our next Brandon Rigoni. He'll make a few big hits on ST and bring character to the team, but will never be an every down player.
  9. I dedicate this beer I'm drinking to our D-Line. Hell of an effort!
  10. A couple perfect throws there. He's getting us back in the game.
