  1. I'll take that spread. Matches my expectations for the game.
  2. My wife is a converted Husker for life! We both live in Lawrence, KS (home of the Jayhawks) and she's still attending KU for her doctorate. It was fairly easy to convert her to Husker football. We bought season tickets to KU Fball. We attended their season opener one week and went to a Husker game the next. The Tunnel Walk gave her chills, the opening thunderous roar made her yell, too. She didn't sit for a second that entire game. We've been watching every game since then, either on TV or in person. She's only been a fan for 2-3 years (only been dating 4 years, married 06/30/07) but she's already planned a grill out for the Nevada game for family and friends. And the USC game has turned into a party weekend all of her planning! I'm one Happy Husker Man. GBR!
  3. A great pickup! We've added several good RB prospects to the roster last couple years. They way I see it, the more top rated competition in the backfield the harder people will have to work to be the starter. Competition breeds excellence, and the future of Husker football looks excellent!
  4. Can't wait to see it, sounds like it will be a ton of fun on wheels! Btw, did someone mention kegs!? Count me N +1 for the wifey!
  5. http://www.rivals.com/ (just for the picture of Sam Keller) http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=696776 1. Nebraska Quarterback Sam Keller (Arizona State) and safety Larry Asante (junior college) Nebraska insists its quarterback job is still up for grabs. We believe Keller will claim the job and flourish in Lincoln. Keller was en route to a record season, passing for 20 touchdowns and 2,165 yards in seven starts in 2005 before being sidelined with a hand injury. When Keller recovered before the 2006 season, then-Sun Devils coach Dirk Koetter originally named Keller the starter. Koetter then flip-flopped the QBs, precipitating Keller's transfer. Asante, ranked the No. 9 junior college player in the country for 2007, will be a favorite to claim a starting safety spot in the Cornhuskers' secondary. These two transfers could be the difference between a Big 12 title and a second-place finish in the Big 12 North. Posted on Rivals front page. Think this guy summed it up pretty well. Keller could bring our offense to the next level and Asante brings that Blackshirt of old attitude into 2007. At the very least these guys give us hope of what could be. **edit: added links***
  6. Offense : Lawrence Phillips (clones don't have mental issues, right?) Defense : Whoever our best coverage corner was. This offense is in dire need of a homerun running back. Phillips was an elusive and punishing back with the speed to take it to the house. Our defense needs one shut down corner to help ease in our DLine.
  7. Bleh, I won't have the cash to buy these tickets for another two weeks! I hope these are still available then! GBR!
  8. Sounds like the perfect guy to carry on the tradition of our bruising FB / HB of the Dane Todd variety.
  9. I live in Lawrence as well, but probably about as far from the stadium as you can get. I will definitely have tickets as the wife and I go to the game every year, regardless of location. It's funny, she's a KU graduate, still attending for her doctorate, but also is a converted Husker! Just seeing the range of emotions she had to go through the last couple years watching KU / NU play has been hilarious. Last years game in Lincoln she flip flopped on who she was cheering for about 10 times? The wife and I will definitely come to the tailgate, it's always more fun to enjoy a pregame with fans of both sides. Gets you even more pumped up for the game to hear both sides talking!
  10. I think Missouri is a credible threat. Their offense seems almost as potent as ours, with a similarly midrange defense. I see the game as a shootout with us scoring first and last. We will still win.
  11. My understanding is that last year their defense carried them. The offense was just good enough to put up two or three touchdowns and commit very few errors. But they lost all the stars from their defense, including their top returning LB to academics. I don't think this game will be as competitive as it's being billed. Of course I haven't bothered to do any fact checking!
  12. I don't have the stats in front of me, but if my memory serves me right our TEs had about 9 TD receptions in the first 2 or 3 games. So even the TD catches aren't really a true reflection of their production. Didn't we have 4 diff TE catch a TD pass in the Louisiana Tech game? I just don't remember the TE being any sort of offensive threat in Big 12 play or beyond.
  13. In response to original question, I believe we are just now starting to catch up on actual depth needs. In my opinion, the first year or two of recruiting were spent taking basically any skill players we could grab. Cally was grabbing JUCOs by the handful intending to make immediate impacts. Each year since then we've started getting more and more HS talent which allows us to start creating depth. I think this year and last we are finally getting to the point where we are recruiting mostly for the future. One or two of these guys may come in and make an immediate impact, but I'd say most are intended to grow in our system and shine later. My 2 cents
  14. I keep thinking that Cally sees this guy as his Mo Purify replacement at the goal line. Who better to throw your jump ball to then a 6'7 TE with jump ball abilities derived from basketball? I think this guy is worth it if just for these limited situations. Everyone on their defense can know it's coming, but sometimes it just doesn't matter~
  15. There are a few important details I pulled from this article that I'm wondering if others noticed / were thinking about. The article starts with the coach of a Neb HS stating that he runs a "smashmouth offense", which is probably a derivative of the Cornhuskers offense of the past. My hope is that with these annual camps, the connections with the local HS coaches, and the continual improvement of the Cornhuskers themselves we can change and develop more of our own local talent. This type of mindset has flourished in other states. HS players are basically groomed on the WCO and are then a better fit for Callahan and co. If all the major schools in Neb were running some type of WCO their athletes would be better suited and prepared to be a part of the offense we run. Until recently Neb as a whole has not been considered a talent hotbed, but we've seen on the Huskers that often the less physically gifted athlete with the firm grasp on the offense will play over the stud that can't figure out his routes. What do you guys think? Can this help to change the run first mindset of Nebraska HS's and bring them around to Callys WCO? Or is it reasonable to ask these coaches to deviate from what they know and love to help a coach that might not be here a few years from now?
  16. Would this be considered a good sign for Mo? If the trial was ordered at the request of his attorney, would that mean he feels that he has a strong case? I admit I'm not at all familiar with our legal system, so maybe it's just a formality that Purify's attorney requested the trial.
