  1. Update on Robinson: http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7234167/michigan-wolverines-expect-denard-robinson-play-vs-nebraska-cornhuskers
  2. Nah, we can handle it. 3 words- Boulder Manhatten Columbia No kidding. If you can survive those three above you can survive anything-especially Colorado BLAH!!
  3. Woody, thanks for the scouting report! Is their D fast? Sometimes we play against these big guys but they are slower than molasses! Any chance that's the case with this D-line?
  4. Some of us were talking today about the fact that after Saturday, there is a bond between Penn St. and Nebraska that no one can take away from us. It will be interesting to see what happens the next time we play them. I think it would be cool if they could meet in the middle of the field every time they play each other.
  5. After the Huskers I root for all of the old Big 8 teams and my alma mater Northwest Missouri State Bearcats! I like the KC Chiefs but I like the Detroit Lions better because Suh plays for them!
  6. I heard the drunk guy that yelled the unfortunate 'F' tirade was quickly extinguished by the other PSU fans! Good for them. I'm glad everything worked out. Here's hoping for healing for that school. It's going to be a long haul for them.
  7. Yep, we have to bring our A game on both sides. I was reading some input on the Michigan Wolverines board. Mixed reviews as to who wins this game. They don't have that much confidence in their offense if Drob doesn't show up. Evidently he hurt his hand recently and they're worried that if he doesn't play they will lose. By pressure, I mean the kind that makes him make poor decisions. On that Wolverine board they were comparing Drob and Martinez as the two worst decision makers in the B1G. Well, obviously, they haven't watched Taylor play lately. He's really improved his decision making as of late and I think we can win this one.
  8. Here are some interesting tidbits about DRob and Michigan: When Michigan played Michigan State back on October 15, the Spartans held coach Brady Hoke's offense to just 250 total yards, 165 accounted for by Robinson. So although Denard will still get his numbers and be the Wolverines most productive player, it's obvious that isolating him is the answer. Each time Robinson had more than 20 carries and less than 20 passing attempts (with the exception of the Notre Dame game), Michigan won. Michigan's defense has improved remarkably this year, but its biggest weakness in recent weeks has been its incapacity to contain outside runs. Defensive coordinator Greg Mattison said the biggest reason the Wolverines are struggling on the perimeter is defenders are not fighting off blocks by receivers. It also sounds like Drob isn't always accurate when he throws. Dennard/David could have a field day picking off his passes. AND putting pressure on him makes him make poor plays so we have GOT TO bring our best defensive game to Michigan next week! GBR!!
  9. Maybe (and I'm sure coach will do this) they should look back on the teams that beat Michigan. Michigan State beat them so if they were able to do that and we beat MSU then we should be able to beat Michigan-right? Iowa beat them too. However, both of those were road games but nonetheless they did beat them. How? We beat PSU on the road. I think we play slightly better on the road but I see no reason, IF we bring our A game that we can't beat Michigan.
  10. Thanks Woody-It's always tough losing but hang in there! Looking forward to beating Michigan next week. Any pointers on how we can prepare for that game?
  11. I thought those gloves were suppose to help them. Good grief! Does anyone else remember, back in the day, how they used to teach the boys how to catch and hold on to the ball? There was some machine or technique that they used again, and again that helped these guys learn how to catch and hold on to the ball. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
  12. Question: If all of this was going on with so many boys, why didn't some of them step up before now? If this had been going on since 1994, surely some of them would've said something before now. I, too, think it's weird that it's all coming into play now. I can see that the grand jury investigations take a long time but the timing seems weird, almost like a set up-like they wanted JoePa out and wanted him out now. It all seems so sinister to me. I am glad that it's out though. I just cannot for the life of me understand why that Grad student didn't take Sandusky out when he saw him harming that little boy. Sandusky would've been a soprano if I would've caught him doing that to a little boy-the janitor too! What were they thinking??
  13. I think this is going to be a close game. I like to snoop around on other teams message boards just to get a feel for what they think their teams strengths and weaknesses are. On one of the Wolverine boards a fan said that Michigan and Nebraska are mirrored images of each other. They also said that both have good defenses but not great ones. I'm thinking that if we play Michigan the way we played Michigan State-shut down Dennard Robinson, then we could win this game. I just hope that Northwestern puts the hurt on Michigan State. Man! I would really love to see us win out, have Michigan State lose to NWestern and Nebraska play Wisconsin in the first B1G championship game with us the victors! How cool would it be to win the B1G championship game our first year out! GO BIG RED!!!
  14. Biff, thank you so much for posting this! Wow. Very inspiring. We have alot to be thankful for here at NU. Coach Bo was right-this whole thing was about so much more than football. Kudos to our coaches, players and fans. We, along with the Penn State folks, demonstrated grace under pressure. Well done.
  15. How do you work on catching the ball? It seemed like our guys had such a difficult time catching and holding on to the ball. How do the coaches work on this with these players? How do we get our front D guys to break through? There was very little pressure on PSU's qb. (Although I thought PSU was holding our guys often throughout the game and the refs didn't call it.) How can we get other players in? Just to try them out. When our D gets tired, are there others that can come in and play while the starters take a rest? Same on offense. We have all this talent, I'm puzzled as to why we aren't using it if only to give our starters a breather.
  16. Maher-He won the game for us. If he hadn't have punted the last ball wayyyy down the field we might've lost. Great game NU! Exceptional game Maher!
  17. And when he spoke at the function I attended he held the audience in a way few speakers can. It's a shame you left the room.
  18. It was inspirational! Such a class act.
