  1. it's not the schools entrance requirements that matter, it's the NCAA. just because they can be accepted to the Miss schools doesn't mean they are eligible to play - one does not equal the other. not saying our admissions standards aren't higher, but at the end of the day it's the NCAA standards that matter and I can't think of too many cases where they've met those, yet failed to gain entrance to Nebraska. maybe once? and considering miss st. hasn't pulled in any more than 2-3 JUCO guys year it doesn't seem to be much of a "pipeline" when their classes average 28+ Not sure what the actual entrance requirements are but I swam at a D1 mid-major school my first two years of college and to maintain your eligibility you had to have a 1.8 GPA. Those were NCAA requirements, so I would imagine that things aren't too stringent down there and to qualify for Nebraska is probably what that guy was getting at.
  2. I think you're looking for offense Also a little down in the dumps today, my man. It'll all be ok.
  3. As it has been noted elsewhere, I think there is a really good chance that Brown stays. At the end of the day it is KB's decision on where he wants to play and we should all be understanding of that. There is no reason for individuals to attack anyone (players, recruits, etc.) on twitter. It is quite embarrassing.
  4. I cannot articulate how I feel so here is a clip. I understand and appreciate your points. I am just angry, I would not be this angry if our team was not special this year. We had the talent. We had moments of top 4, then we crapped the bed. I have never seen this movie but this is how I feel. That's the irony of this whole situation we're in right now withNebraska football. Most of us are frustrated with how our team has performed lately, except for the poor lost souls who think 9-4 is the end all be all, but there are two distinct differing opinions. Both groups want what's best for the program - one group thinks Bo is the answer and just needs more time; while the other thinks he has run his course(I'd fall into this category). Sad thing is, it comes down to one man...SE.
  5. Point #1 Well said, we all want NU to win. I would be one of the first on here to say that I was wrong if he did finally accomplish something at NU. But I don't think he will and has had more than enough time to prove that he isn't the man for the job. Points #2 and #3 are spot on. The only thing that kept Tom from having a run like he did in the 90's earler was another all time great in Barry Switzer and OU. But while trying to slay that dragon, he was still beating top competion. Bo can't get past Minnesota, struggles against a bad Iowa team and gets blown out by every team that has a heartbeat. Every team? Do you want to change that to Wisky? Sir we are the bane of the SEC - give us a SEC team again this year for a bowl, let us show who is really over ranked. You have to be high as a kite to consider us the "bane" of the SEC. We've gone 1-2 in the last 3 games we played against them. Not too earthshattering of a record. God, "the bane of the SEC". Thanks for providing some comedy this morning. As in the only big ten team to win last year - yes. As in to not get blown out and be the laughing stock they predicted yes. As in every other Big ten Team was; yes. Other Big Ten teams acted like the second rate conf ESPN keeps telling us we are. We gave good games every year win or lose. I get what you're trying to say man, I really do. But our 5 point win over a Georgia team that had all but packed it in for the season doesn't prove much. There were other good match ups between the conferences too, Wisconsin played South Carolina close and Iowa lost only by 7...not really blow outs. Listen I'm as tired as the next guy when it comes to the SEC dominance and circle jerk. There's a pretty easy solution to that, win bowl games. However, just because we won last year doesn't mean we're the "Bane" of the SEC. I could tell you this, I would be fearful of what an Alabama, Miss St, or even Auburn would do to us. And that comment right there should be enough for people to wake up and see that things aren't great in Lincoln. Not like it really matters since we're consistently man handled by Wisconsin and Ohio States of the B1G so we will only have to every worry about playing middle of the pack SEC or PAC12 schools in our bowl games.
  6. Barney is about as competent of a coach as his son is a player. Sad thing is, I think yesterday's game might have been the first time all year 68 or 71 wasn't flagged the entire game. Good for them, only took 12 games.

  8. You hope we have 10 more years of this slop before he rises. Heaven help us. TO handled his criticism with class, not F bomb tirades against the best fan base in sports. We are not the best fans in sports. This board should prove that. This board might not prove that. But this does and we all know they can't put anything on Memorial Stadium if it isn't true.
  9. This falls on our athletic department not doing a good enough job of broadcasting all that Lincoln has to offer. All we hear when recruits come go on trips up there is, "wow i was expecting cornfields" or "man, i didnt know nebraska was like this". If we are constantly getting that feedback from the recruits we are actually able to get vist, I would think that the athletic department would push harder to exploit this to recruits writing off Nebraska because of the flyover state impression. I would imagine that Lincoln has to be up in the rankings when it comes to size. I know that when we were in the Big XII, I think we were only behind Austin as far as population...not too sure about the B1G I would put the blame on the coaches, not the AD. It is the coaches job to sell the school/town to these kids. The AD under Tom/SE have done a great job of improving the faclites and keeping NU at the forefront of college athletics. Agreed that they have done a great job of improving the facilities, I guess I was just thinking more so as a overall exposure to the Nebraska tradition and exprience for all sports. I know they posted a video a couple months ago on huskers.com with freshman from different sports talking about how Lincoln is vs. their original expectations. Maybe build on that a bit more, have a stock letter or even that video on CD to send to prospective recruits.

  11. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. If we keep Bo, we are Iowa. Think about that. Pelini could still be here and not have accomplished a damn thing in 16 years. Escuse me.......I'm going to be sick. We already have been for 7 years. We even have a loss to ISU right on par with Iowa. That's what I can't understand about the people openly promoting keeping Pelini. It's insanity at this point to think anything will improve if we keep Bo. It's not like they can say they didn't see it coming. We've been living it for 7 years now. We will continue to lose to decent and ranked teams and the highest we can hope for is being ranked in the 20's. If that is acceptable, count me out. I don't get what people are afraid of, it's not like it could get any worse. 4 wins, 5 wins, 6 wins.....it's no different than 9 wins if we don't win any games that matter. I could give two squirts about beating the Purdues and directional state universities of the world.Especially in college football past performance does not accurately predict future outcomes. I mean. Look at Mack Brown. They sure as hell did when Mack played us.
  12. RIght and I respect that everyone has differing views on how long they hold onto Bo. Realistically, how long would it take for you to jump ship? Again, just out of curiosity - not trying to be a smart a$$
  13. Will it be as painful as the despair we are currently in?
  14. Just checked the numbers and ding ding ding ding ding. Chizik was at Auburn 3 years and he had 3 games lost by 30+ points, all in his last season. I GUESS THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT BO CAN WIN IT ALL AFTER ALL. Honest question. If Bo isn't fired and wins a CCG next year, do you still want to fire him? Won't happen... because either A: Bo is fired or B: Bo stays and we lose to Wisconsin, MSU, Miami, Minny/Iowa or hell, even Purdue.... Dont forget about BYU at home, beginning of the season...i'll be interested to see what that game does to home attendance if the outcome is negative.
  15. Bob Stoops...in his second season at OU Larry Coker at Miami...in his second season at Miami
  16. Bob Stoops...in his second season at OU

I GUESS THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT BO CAN WIN IT ALL AFTER ALL. Wait, was this the year that Auburn was smart enough to fire him? I didnt know teams had the audacity to do such things.
  18. Competing against these two for the splash-hire is a lot easier than compared to top program's that were looking for a head coach last year. Granted, that doesn't mean we should absolutely do it. I think if SE is diligent in his process and finds a coach he deems appropriate, pull the trigger. However, don't just fire a coach with no game plan (we'll get another Callahan). I honestly believe SE will act in the best interest of the program, spending the appropriate amount of time and energy to find his guy. I'm hoping this is sooner (i.e. sometime this week) rather than later.
  19. We completely realize you were being sarcastic, and we also realize you're delusional. Every single national article and conversation that comes out in regards to our program and Pelini is in favor of us parting ways with him. This situation couldn't be any more different than the Solich one, and the national sentiment is shock that we haven't gotten rid of him already. Name one really impressive performance turned in by this team in the last 3 seasons. Link? http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/11/23/misery-index-week-13-nebraska-miami-usc-virginia-tech-notre-dame-michigan-vanderbilt/19447173/
  20. So how many season tickets have been turned in since the Minnesota loss...anybody know? Will the amount of season tickets not renewed this year exceed the amount of people who would snap them up?...anybody know? How many fans will forgive and forget if Pelini wins a bowl game?...anybody know? Like I said, 10,000+ phone calls are a lot to make. Same as 4,500 season ticket holder interviews. The fact the university had tickets remaining in August and was cutting deals, as far as no seat licensing or annual donations required for certain seats, should be a red flag that tickets are not in as high of demand as they once were. I have wondered about the counterparty in this argument though. Are there steadfast Bolievers who would threaten to relinquish their tickets if he was let go? It'll be very intersting to see how it all plays out.
  21. You DO know what the disparaging nickname for the Big 8 was when Osborne was coaching?... ..."Big 2, Little 6". Look, I don't know if Bo has what it takes to be a head coach, but I just don't see anything happening this year...although I have been wrong plenty of times before. There is also a sense that whoever would be Bo's successor will be an automatic improvement, which I remember hearing ad nauseum when Callahan was hired. I agree with what you're saying, I know that traditionally the Big 8 was seen as a weak conference, even with Osborne at the helm. All I was getting at was that this arbitrary number of 9 wins is just a milestone for people to hang their hat on and preach that Bo is taking the program in the right direction. It is simple data mining, which anyone on either side of the fence can do. I will say Bo has improved the program in off the field situations is great, I'll give credit where it is deserved. However, that doesn't simple get to off-set our performance on the field. Bo is a good coach, nothing more nothing less - consistenly providing 9 wins with 4 losses. I'm to the point now that I think we can move on, I'm not content on being third in a division when we should realistically competing against Wisconsin every year. Now could we fall flat on our face if we go in a different direction, yeah - its pretty obvious we could. But I would also hope that if we did, we would recognize it and move on... the way the Oklahoma's and Alabama's of the world do.
  22. That's a lot of phone calls for you to have made... I bet ole Mike Jacobsen has already started calling people, it wont take long for this to turn into a legitimate ordeal. Just look at the board after today's win. Do you honestly think fans will have the same level as excitement as they did at the beginning of this year? If they dont we will have some issues with that highly regarded sellout streak. Even if 5% of season ticket holders decide against renewing those season tickets, you're looking at filling roughly 4,500 seats for the sellout streak to continue. I think polo has a good point.
  23. Accident and luck weren't the best terms, I had a hard time analogizing and explaining. I guess saying it's a level of skill is technically true, but that 'level' is about a C+ grade considering all of the advantages at his disposal that are conducive to putting a good football team on the field. If advantages are all it takes to win 9 games each year, then tell me why only 5 have done it. Are you truly saying NU has infinitely more resources and/or advantages than anyone else? I am not sure what to think right now, Knapp's post was as close as I can come to explaining my feelings, but trying to mitigate a fact that only 5 out thousands have accomplished is like spitting into the wind. The bigger issue in my mind is how the heck does a Coach who is good enough to accomplish the rarest of feats have such a poor side to his record as well? Not every coach is fortunate enough to play in the Big XII north or B1G West their first seven years. We I guess technically we were in that legends or leader crap too, but you get my point.
