  1. well its kind of a wakeup call when you are a new member of a conference and have to deal with it on your first road game. I went up to the Michigan game, sure there are some a$$hole$, most of them were just the college kids when we went to party with them at 9 in the morning, but for the most part they were glad we were in the conference and i heard that hundreds of times. "Thanks for coming, see us again soon." "It's great to have a program like yours in our conference now." and much more. From what i heard, the things that went on in Maddison were equivilent or worse to a road trip to Missouri or Colorado. Playing devil's advocate, I believe one of the reasons for the discrepancy between visits to Ann Arbor and Madison might be in part to the time of the games. A, you have a night game in Madison, allowing students to do enough beer bongs, power hours, and other assortment of drinking games to become pretty lit, I mean, I know I was. B, Ann Arbor was an early day game, where most students were trying to fight the hangover from the previous night, unless of course it was a fraternity formal. Now, I am not saying the time difference is the ultimate reason for difference of atmospheres, however I do think that giving students the opportunity to drink all day would allow for a rowdier bunch. Again, I know many naysayers will not allow this to be any sort of justification, but Madison is known as a party school so obviously the alcohol might have something to do with the experience. Just look at some of the other examples on this board, 02 Penn State and 07 Virginia Tech, both night games and resulting in numerous negative experiences. It is exhausting for everyone involved on this post to continue to bicker back and forth, ultimately only upsetting the opposite parties more. At this point, it only makes sense to agree to disagree and move on, Jesus, is it football season yet?
  2. She went to Mizzou what do you expect? And as noted earlier, they still suck.
  3. My wife wishes that was the case with me because 3/4 of my wardrobe in the closet is Husker apparel exactly 3 things in my closet polo, brooks brothers, and husker gear Our closets are identical. Can't miss with the horse, golden fleece, and Herbie exactly must be the southern upbringing (assuming by UGA husker) that allows us to share the same ideals

  5. Pretty short interview, Rome asked Pelini about Martinez said the kid is calm and not overly cocky, and he is far from his maximum potential. Then went on the defense asking if it was better than last years squad and of course in typical Pelini fashion, said there are things that need to be worked on. I love his mentality never happy till a championship is won, which he stated as well. He was also asked about the Texass game and Pelini said that the team cant worry about it yet, after k-state. Good short interview but nothing more than what we've already gathered from Bo.
  6. My fear vanished when I remembered We are Nebraska....
  7. I like the new jersey just a couple quick comments, first although the shoulder numbers look really high I bet once the pads are on it will be closer to last year than what people think. Second I think the urine yellow stripes will come back I think its just a matter of the jersey getting worn. I also like the 2001 jerseys with the high socks, however the sleeves still had two stripes. I know I seem a bit picky but just giving input.
  8. Looks like I'll have to get up even earlier to begin pregamming
  9. Found it fairly satisfying that Gabbert was most overrated quarterback.....
  10. Ooooh, maybe the 1996 game vs CU? I was at that game- even in the middle of July it makes me cold just thinking about it! IIRC it was a day game as opposed to night but either way the sun was no where to be found. The CU game I'm talking about was definitely a night game. I'm sure you're thinking of a different game. Great video - thanks for posting that. well the 94 game was in the middle of the day and it was 24-7 Nebraska. Colorado had hardly any first downs and was dominated pretty much the entire game. And the 96 game was during a sleet storm. I remember parts of I 80 were closed and it was a close sloppy contest final score I believe 17-12 just off the top of my head. Terrible conditions for football, the thing that stood out the most was the cu kicker was kicking barefoot. I don't know what night game of Colorado you were thinking off. Hopefully these help with the clarification.
  11. Does anyone know if they have the authentic ones yet? With the tackle twill numbers...usually run bout $200. Thanks.
  12. Your theory on Texas beating us based off recruiting is flawed. If this was the case our bill callahan era wouldve been much more productive than what it is. Bo pelini will have his players ready to go. Don't worry and start sippin the kool aid.
  13. Just an FYI I've hung out with many over the 20 years plus I've been attending games. I just don't understand why numerous of topics continue to resurface from big 12 foes. Yes we understand you guys are upset and feel we betrayed you guys. Our apologies, but at the same time we did what's best for us. The same way 16 years ago the big 8 voted against Nebraska in every aspect and formed a new conference. The big 8 history was completely erased when we joined with the floundering swc. I undestand loyalties...etc but that left as soon as the conference was aligned. Look at ou they jumped ship and wanted Texas not Nebraska as their top rival. Yes husker fans in general have a bitter taste with the conference but honestly I'm tired of hearing other schools complain about our decision. Sorry I was a but irrational earlier but Jesus let it be. It's done with.
  14. Well thats usually what happens when you come on a nebraska board....sorry ku football isnt interesting enough to have multiple conversations going.... i like yalls look at the bright side persepective though, you know the whole its football season till we get to conference play and lay goose eggs, but uh thats right yall are a basketball school, we see how much weight that pulls. Glad Billy Self can get up off his knees of AD and conference presidents across the nation, now he can focus all his attention on those longwhorns.
  15. I dont think it'll be that big a deal. Look at when we were in the big 8. Never played Texas teams on the regular and could still get some studs ex turner gill. But as for traditional teams that went out the door when we established the big 12. It doesn't matter to anyone else we should just get out now.
  16. eh lets just give them the bell....we already got three crystal balls to their zero
  17. The only reasonable thing to do is add to the east, however itll be a challenge because if you want to add club seats your capacity is actually going to diminish since the seats take up more room. The south end there is nothing you can do especially with the technology and science classes that are in the old offices, an interesting idea i had for the east and some may not like it would be keeping what we have now making the top tier all club then adding a third balcony with what others on here have already said an exterior unit supporting the third balcony. Within the unit have a nice mix of the exterior walls looking like the east side but also incorporating the dome that is on that east side. One thing to consider is the room you have to build on that side though. Itll take away the tailgating area, probably have to relocate the sculpture and also the area between the northeast side and the track fence is not very wide so itll be a bit of work to fit all that in.
  18. If Nebraska went to the Big Ten, they could still keep their rivalry with Oklahoma by scheduling an annual game with them, like Notre Dame and USC, or Florida and Florida State do. I don't think that would ever happen personally...because I think neither school would want to have the other as an annual opponent at the start of the season unless they were basically forced to do it because who ever would lose that game would probably have their chances of a national championship that season quashed. This is unfortunate for the fans in one regard, but then I remember when we did play them every year, we had the attitude that if we lost a single game, our season was practically over in some regards. I hate to say it, but the days of having a rivalry like what we had with Oklahoma is probably over. And with the shifting conferences, the NCAA will probably never have the same look and feel. To some regards this may be better, because there will be more competition, but then the days of one team being dominate are over...it was fun while it lasted. This is not entirely true.... The florida florida state game is played at the end of the year around the same time we play colorado. So we could always fill the spot on the day after thanksgiving with Oklahoma instead of colorado, especially if we were to switch conferences. However the only conflict with that would be that bedlam would have to me moved to a different weekend, which many fans in oklahoma may not want. But just because we would have a non conference game against Oklahoma doesnt necessarily mean it has to be one of the powderpuffs at the beginning of the year. However we could have a game in the beginning of the year with them since we are always looking for one top 25 team to play non conference, because unless things get dramatically worse in Norman they should be a top 25 team for many years to come.
  19. prior to the bcs style, its impossible to say what years (especially in the 80's) which games were truely national championship games, in that decade we usually played in the orange bowl if we won the big 8 there was no true 1 vs 2, however sometimes this worked out. And the arguement against about nebraska vs miami being better in the decades i would say that in the '80s miami had our number, we did play in a tougher conference with the matchup against ou basically determined who went to miami, however in the 90's no question nebraska was the team of the decade and i would take our 90's team against miami's '80s team. No one would come close to the 95 team, many believe this to be the best team ever. You look at the way we killed teams and also were classy about it. I dont know how many of you guys saw the u documentary on espn, it was sickening. Guys were straight thugs and played backyard ball. Our 90 teams were amazing and you look at the 94 orange bowl against florida state, if the refs would let our guys hit ward instead of bogus roughing the passer calls we would have easily won that game, 96 texas was a fluke and i think we still had the best team that season, and 99 texas just had our number or else we had another national championship.
  20. Welcome to Husker Nation, and to answer your question there isnt one thing over the next thatll make you a better or more loyal fan. One thing I would say is that you need to be educated on the team and not have irrational comments towards the other teams, however I find myself making stupid remarks, but you must realize the tradtition that surrounds the program is built up from the last 4 decades so there would be alot to look up, thats why its not necessary to know all this. Its not like you grew up in the state and I like to see that we are getting a new fan base even when our team isnt the top 5 in the nation, however our fan base is far and above. If you know the fight song there are lyrics saying "we will stick together in all kinds of weather for dear old nebraska u", these words might be the best to sum up the way husker fans feel about their team. If you want a site to follow apart from huskerboard, I would suggest huskerpedia like someone else mentioned earlier, its got a lot of nebraska info from different news sites. Also I might suggest seeing if there is a alumni association up in canada that could possibly get the games on saturday. Good luck and welcome again! go big red!
  21. I think as long as both teams are ranked top 10 no question it'll turn into a saturday night prime time game, with college gameday being there. And after experiencing what an atmosphere the oklahoma game produced this year, no question memorial stadium will be rockin and were probably looking at a record crowd for a beat down of texas, not to mention i just wanna hear what corso and crew wil have to say when nebraska sticks it to them. Obviously we will have to will then trap game in washington but you know players and coaches already have this game circled. I honestly cant wait for this game!
  22. I know that I might get ripped apart for this but I had a few interesting ideas on the uniforms. First after watching our bowl game with arizona there was one thing that stood out about their uniforms that I thought we could possibly run with, their helmets. I dunno if anyone else noticed but it seemed like the A really stood out and I would assume it was because there was not a stripe down the middle so the A was the only thing on the helmet and drew all the attention. Id like to see us try that and again if it doesn't look good we can always fix it like the 2002 jerseys. Now about the jerseys, i personally like the ones we had from 1999-2001 which are the exact same as what we have now except for the word NEBRASKA was across the chest very small above the numbers so I wouldn't mind adding that again. However, what I would like to see are some jerseys, such as the alternate ones for the 300th come out about once a year. Thus exciting recruits because as a 19 year old I do like to see schools come out with different jerseys and I really think it excites kids also, because usually after a weekend that oregon brings out their 20th different uniform of the year guys are still talking about it at school. And I know that may upset some people but honestly, our glory days are nearly 15 years old so these recruits we are trying to pull in were 3-4 years old at that time, which im sure they can hardly remember, unless they have always grown up a husker fan were going to need something more to pull them in. I would honestly like to see some throw backs to the 70's when we wore the 2 white shoulder stripes. Also something that has been bugging me is the arrogance that fans portray on here about were nebraska and our tradition is way to good to change anything. Listen im the biggest husker fan as the next person, but when we have struggled the way we did in the middle part of this decade its just dumbfounding to listen to people constantly say this when schools such as LSU, Ohio State, and Florida, who all had a lot better seasons these past ten years compared to us, have all had alternate uniforms that they pull out from time to time. Honestly IMO the older generation needs to be a little more open to tweaks in the uniforms, itll bring excitement to the younger generation of husker fans as well as possibly be a factor in landing us some top caliber recruits.
  23. You see the thing is we won't have big 12 officials so the penetration that suh and that entire line will also be helped by numerous holding calls that the officials seemed to overlook the entire season. Good luck wildcats. Your gonna need it.
