But Bo ISN'T our coach. I wish people would quit saying that until we hear for sure. It's just going to make folks look like idiots if it isn't true. It could very well BE Bo Pelini. In fact, I have to admit that I've been watching the Tenn-LSU game and I have found myself watching Bo's defense and thinking, 'Wow, if it really is him we're going to have one heckuv a defense next year.' and I'm for Gill!!! But it could very well turn out to be Turner Gill after all! Gill has also proven he can get kids to play for him. His performance at Buffalo has not only caught the attention of NU staff but also Washington State. It could even be Brian Kelly or Jim Grobe or someone we haven't even thought about yet. Dr. Tom will take care of this. We really don't have to worry about it. Perhaps what we DO need to worry about is our own attitudes. I've seen a very ugly side of people who call themselves 'Nebraska Husker fans' this year that I hope I don't ever see again!

I don't think this will be a problem and this is why: Tom Osborne is VERY good friends with Turner. If Tom didn't think Turner was right for the job, Turner would agree with him. Tom has been Turner's mentor for years and only has Turner's best interest at heart. I for one would love to see Turner come back to NU either as the Head Coach or even possibly the new AD? We'll just have to wait and see. My vote is for Dr. Tom. He hasn't failed us yet.

You know, while I haven't seen anything or even heard anything about it I'm wondering if maybe Bo will be the head coach and Turner will be the new AD. But, then I thought again on that issue because I thought I heard somewhere that Paul Meyer was being groomed to be the new AD? Turner would be brilliant in the AD role in my opinion and it would be a much larger responsibility, covering all sports instead of just one. That might be more appealing to him??

The 'Bo Pelini is the new head coach' rumor was simply set in motion to cover up the TRUE choice? I could see that happening. If people are looking for Pelini then it takes the pressure off of Osborne and the rest of the staff along with the person who WAS chosen for head coach.

"It is for a FACT?' What is? Define 'It' and 'fact' because you have listed no source. The only credible, FACTUAL information will come from Dr. Tom himself and the last time I checked he stated that he had no comment on whether Pelini had been chosen or not.

um....people have been posting about this since last night.......in RUMORVILLE!!!!!!!!!!! sorry but this isnt a romor... its not a romor but it belongs in rumorville because theres where all the coach talk is supposed to go It IS a RUMOR because it isn't substantiated by anything but hearsay. The only person who can make this a fact is Dr. Tom. Until he speaks...it is what it is ....a rumor.

And you believed him? (IBR??) Didn't you find it convenient that he 'breaks his story' AFTER BSPN posted theirs? It's all just pure speculation! A head coach has NOT been chosen for Nebraska. If it were so Tom O would've confirmed it.

Unless Tom O called you I won't believe anything until the ACTUAL news comes out. You may be completely correct but as far as I'm concerned this is all just a rumor. Someone on the main football board tried to say that Pelini was the coach too. I'm waiting for that one to come here as well. BSPN started this rumor last night. Same source that said Tuberville was going to Arkansas. I'm a Missouri girl-you gotta 'show me' before I'll believe any of this buzz.

Go read the rumor board. Osborne has not confirmed anything and in the report above that you sited Pelini is denying the rumors. It originated at BSPN so that tells you everything. They just recently said that Tuberville was going to Arkansas which proved to be WRONG. We won't have a new head coach until Osborne announces it from the podium. If it's Pelini fine but right now it's all just RUMOR and that's where this post belongs!

That's exactly right! This is the same network that said Tuberville was going to Arkansas!! Sorry! I don't trust ANYTHING coming from them. In fact, I think they should be renamed BSPN!!

I predict Paul Meyer will be chosen as the permanent AD. I think that when he left, the shake up began at NU. Osborne was really happy that Paul was invited back and that he came back. Paul Meyer is a HUGE fundraising power at NU so I'm sure he will be strongly considered. The AD is not just AD for the football program but the overseer for ALL sports. Paul has the experience to take on this massive job.

They're just guessing. The same can be said about Paul Johnson who can't be interviewed until after the Army-Navy game Saturday. I do think the logic leads one to conclude it is either Pelini or Johnson. It would be nice if T.O. could bring Turner back as OC too but I think that is a long shot. What a cute dog!!!

It will be interesting to see if the fan base by large will be more patient with a new coach considering our former experience. I like to think we've learned from that experience. Of course there will always be those impatient ones but hopefully the majority of the fans will support any coach Tom Osborne chooses as we trust his judgement. I think it will be easier if a coach with Nebraska ties is hired but that person may not be the best fit. Again, Dr. Tom knows what he's about and we shall just have to wait and see.

I totally agree with you that making up rumors 'just for the fun of it' is too stupid but SOOO funny! This board has some of the best comic relief on it I've read in a long time!! Again, after what we've been through it's great to laugh again!

I disagree. (Most humbly and this is not a personal attack on you by any means, just an observation) If this were a board where we were talking facts and statistics I would be right there with you. BUT THIS IS A RUMOR BOARD!! This is THE place where people can do exactly that: Speculate to their hearts desire. Bring in ALL of the rumors they've heard and even make some up just for the fun of it! THIS IS A PLACE TO HAVE SOME FUN!! I mean really! After the four years we've had I think we're entitled. Like you have said yourself, 'AS I SEE OUR NEEDS' Isn't this just speculation on your part? Yes, it is but that's ok. That's what this board is for! So relax, have some fun! They've been successful coaches. Yes, it can be questioned whether or not they could hack it at Nebraska, but the same question can be posed of any other coach in the United States, save for one, and he just so happens to be our Athletic Director. Thanks for sharing. Truly! I do appreciate your opinion. Here are a couple of things to think about: *How will Bo do on offense? He may have a brilliant defensive mind but as we learned with Bill Callahan being brilliant on one side or the other does not make an effective head coach. *How will Bo handle the general public? I'm sorry but I see him as a hot head. The last thing we need is someone who cannot handle his emotions during a game or off the field. We've been embarrassed enough for the past 4 years, we simply don't need that now. *How will he handle recruits? Some people say this isn't important but it is in this state. The defensive recruits will probably love him but what about the offensive recruits? *How will he handle the boosters? Unfortunately, they are the 'money'. Again, this is something that has to be taken into consideration. *How will he handle the media? Whoever is chosen for the position of Head Coach at Nebraska will be under incredible media scrutiny. Can Bo handle this? Just some things to consider. Thanks again for sharing your opinion.

Just curious: Why are you using only one more year as your criterion in measuring whether Turner is ready to be a head coach? Why not two years or three? Just curious. By the way, Congrats Turner!!!!

I'm confused that you would say ask ANY former player because the guys that played with Turner have said publicly that they would love for Turner to be head coach. I loved the initial post here. Everything in it was true. Turner could be THE healing key for this busted up Nebraska program.

Oh! Is Turner black? I hadn't noticed. I'm sure there are others like me who see in Turner a champion football player and coach both off the field and on. A man of dignity, honor and integrity. The kind of man that ANY school would be proud to have as their head coach. Leave it to one or two people to bring up the 'race card'. It's so absurd!! (By the way...I heard on 1620 The Zone this afternoon that Turner's name came up as a possible candidate for the Washington State job. Interesting.)
