    Piling on!

http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/06/oklahoma-state-booster-t-boone-pickens-b.html Don't know if this was posted. If so, my apologies. I just about threw my shoe at the tv this morning after Dick Vitale...excuse me Dicky V, questioned nebraska's loyalty. I'm starting to get pissed off. People are starting to point the finger at nebraska for busting up the Big 12. When the fire alarm is going off and you see smoke....do you wait to verify and see the fire......or make a move? I'm am no longer a Pickens fan. Good riddance.
  2. I would too. I'd also like it to have 'homer' voices in the booth. T_O_B Is there any talk of a BigXII Network. I know this has been thrown around. You have the Mountain West and Big 10. Sec, has CBS. Isn't it time for the Big XII? I would love to see it.
  3. I count both Brown and Stoops as having 110 wins this decade. Is that right? Is that the most wins for a coach this decade? With that much talent, there are no excuses. I have watched him over the years, and yes, he will win a lot of games. Big games??? I am not sold the NC game with Vince Young wasn't coaching, that was talent. I remember when he was back at UNC, they had Dre Bly, Ellis, Jeff Saturday and a whole slew of talented guys. FSU came to town on a Thursday Night and they got blown out. Then shortly thereafter he left for UT. I am not saying he is a bad coach, I am saying he will get the talent to win 9-10 wins. But he is suspect in big games. Something odd happens.
  4. I have said it a thousand times down here in Texas. Mack Brown is a recruiter. Damn good one. He did the same thing at North Carolina. He had some talent there, and it he has done the same thing again at Texas. He gets outcoached every time. Same with Stoops. Texas is a hotbed for recruiting. These guys will clean up year end and year out. But I tell you, if your starting QB goes down, shouldn't you have the talent to not have too much of a drop off? I'm just sayin....

    Deja Vu

Coach is fired after successful season....... D-Coordinator takes over for bowl game and wins convincingly....... D-Coordinator tells administrator is wants the job........... Athletic Director brings in person from outside the program........ fill in the blanks..... I am not a tech fan and I don't like leach, but damn this sounds very familiar!
  6. bull s h i t That showed no class, typical SEC crap. Then their dumba$$ fans chant S E C over and over again. Man, I hate that conference. McCoy plays and UT wins that game. McCoy did play. He got knocked out of the game. texas fans didn't have any problems with OU when Sam Bradford got knocked out. Amen!!
  7. Yesterday, down here in Big D, the Nebraska Blackshirts got huge props from Michael Irvin and his crew. They were talking how "overpowering" nebraska's defense was against Texas and how Alabama's d is similar. Also, they made comparisons to Cody and Suh. And Irvin said, "Cody can clog up the middle, but Suh can clog and move". I thought it was nice yesterday to hear folks talk about our team like they used to in the 90's. Also, it was nice to hear the Nebraska references last night during the game. I tell you what, that definitely helps with recruiting. GBR!!!
  8. ITS ALL ABOUT DA U AWWWWW...the great jessie Armstead. That guy was a beast.
  9. I couldn't find it, so I thought I would ask. Also, where is the schedule for future championships?

    Flexing

I haven't been on the board for a while and I am sure someone posted already, but I'm gonna say it anyway. I sure did love seeing some swagger out of our team last night. when Niles Paul spiked the ball and flexed, I lost it. We have our swagger back and it's been a long time coming. statement game. I am proud of our boys. Great job! Can't wait until next year. GBR!!!!
  11. I heard all week how Texas was going to roll us. Got tired of hearing it. From the pundits at ESPN, to my own father. Living in Texas this week has been hard. But I saw a lot of fans down here prior to the game proudly wearing their Husker gear. As for the game. Stuff like this happens. Texas shouldn't have won, but we saw an great team fight until the end. Our kids deserve better, but it's football. We had a much better team than anyone expected. ANYONE! Our offense will get better. We played ball control and did the best with what we had. I have been calling for Watson's head all year. To be honest, I think he called a pretty good game. Look, our offense isn't that good (news flash). So, great job huskers. It's going to hurt for a while. We got respect last night. We got a young team and we got something to build one for next year. I am very proud of our team! GBR!!
  12. There are plenty. Since Six Flags is there, and the airport is about 20 mins away. Take your pick. The problem is, there is really no night life in arlington. Which is why folks didn't want it there. Oh well. If you are walking. It's quite a distance.
  13. Wow. Just an observation. No need to be a smart ass. I'm pulling for the guy to get out of his funk. Good grief.
  14. I don't know if he is rattled or not, but he is playing like it. It's hard losing your starting job and then have to go back and gain the confidence of the team. It looks like he is afraid to make a mistake. When you play scared like that, your natural abilities can't take over. For example, for all you golfers out there. It's like constantly slicing the ball and then all of a sudden, you have houses on your right and left. You short arm everything because you are afraid of the outcome. No different here. He needs to calm down and play an not worry about Pelini getting in his face. Just my thoughts.
  15. One thing I have noticed the last two weeks, has been the type of plays being called. I am not seeing all those damn bubble screens and dump passes. I am seeing more running plays and play action. Maybe Watson has dialed down the playbook. It seems we are controlling the ball better and running straight ahead. It's refreshing and I hope we can keep it up. Good job yesterday. A little sloppy on defense, but that's ok. It happens. I saw it plenty of times with the teams of the 90's. As for Bo's temper. Trust me, I would take his fire and intensity anytime. One more thing.....Asante needs to run some stadium steps after that blunder. I like finishing plays, but good grief.
  16. Ya know. I read the article a couple of times. He's taking some cheap shots. Good riddance Witt. It's not WHAT you know, it's WHO you know. I'll take my husker brethren over the well-to-do, ivy-league types anyday. Now drink your friggin tea with your pinky in the air! Elitist.
  17. Damn shame. The problem is there is crime everywhere. I live in Texas and my younger brother is a cop in Dallas. He has told me some horrific things that happen on a daily basis that don't get coverage. Like he told me one day, "If you could only see what I see, you wouldn't come out the house".
  18. it would be the biggest mistake of his life if he goes pro. He isn't ready. He's just a sophomore. Wait until next year when Suh is gone and let's see how he does. He has the potential, don't rush the process. Believe me, it's a huge step from college to pro. He has the physical tools no doubt. Let his body continue to mature and he will be a freak in a year or two.
  19. Honestly, I don't care who starts. But what I saw saturday was a watered down version of our playbook. It seems watson is at least trying to simplify things. This is what I been complaining about all year. I thought his screens and stretch plays were a joke for this type of talent on offense. Simply put, we don't have it on offense. So, I wondered what would happen if we kept it simple. Especially with Green. Man did he look like a freshmen. And lee, I'm sorry boys, but he looks nervous as hell and is out of sync. If we had any type of offense.....any, we could be ranked up there. But you have to go with what you got. I did have some interesting observations..... Our O-line is softer than drug store cotton. Now, you don't need a ton of experience in order to run block. That's simple. We were getting beat off the line, and our technique is terrible. We have our work cut out for us the rest of the year. Niles Paul is average at best. Dillard should get a comeback of the year award. Compton and Fisher were not ready. Secondary is playing much, much better. Crick is a damn beast. And he is a sophomore. Defense will be hell for the next few years. If we can get our offense to put together anything, we could win the Big 12. Our defense is the best in the conference. Period.
  20. he's the real deal happy meal!!!!! This guy has turned into a beast!!!
  21. Sorry but when people go downfield with the ball it is a setup...they don't completely expect it to work and you might even get lucky to get a pass interference call. If one of your starters isn't getting the job done then you find someone who will. And who's job is it to get those guys ready to play...Oh IDK the coaches maybe? Most of us won't blame Bo really, because we know Watson basically has full control of the offense. So Bo can get his defense to go from basically crap to what it is now and Watson can't get his offense to do anything and he has been with the offense longer than Bo was with the team? How about I put it this way...I see that the zone read, bubble screen, blah blah blah isn't working and yet I still keep running it? My best players are probably my tightends and I don't use them very often. The power formations we have been using have had success, but I go away from that and go back to my same plays that aren't. All my QB's must be taught to look at one guy the whole time cause that is what all of them do. I thought the QB position was Watson's specialty? I get to the 4 yard line and 1st down I call a pass when we obviously can't catch the ball. Or better yet we pass the ball on 3 straight downs and go 3 and out. Which usually happens in panic mode even if we are down 3 points. And I never consistently try to run the ball. The runs that get called are usually sprinkled in. I have 320 plays that I throw at these guys...yeah we don't run all of those, but I expect them to learn them. Sorry but your job is to coach these guys and make them better, more prepared players. Bo did his job on the defense and he is head coach so the offense should fall on him too except we know that the offense is Watson's show. So Watson is not the full problem, but he isn't helping anything either. Coaches and schemes make a huge difference in this game...more than we probably think. Watson can't outcoach any defense and it shows. Plus I personally think we would be better off going back to a run first team, because the recruiting would be much easier. We can get the big boys for the line around here along with the running backs. We will never get a big time receiver and even if we do we won't get the ball in their hands. Those teams that were successful running these same plays are using those plays to get the ball in their playmakers hands. Cincinatti really comes to mind there. You hit the nail on the head!! I agree 100%
  22. Sounds like we are running right at em. Can anyone confirm. I got Directv and got hosed this week.
  23. He seems to have ALL the answers.
