  1. I've seen visiting fans(including kids) verbally attacked, spat on, sodas dumped on them, and I've even seen Husker fans trying to start a fight with them. All this was between the stadium and the parking lots.
  2. You're joking right? Nope. Dead serious. Is it really surprising that the media in this state doesn't report anything negative about Husker fans?
  3. I will say this. Badger fans that come to Lincoln next year, might want to keep their gear at home in case Wisconsin wins. Based on what I've seen in the past, wearing opposing team gear at Memorial Stadium is like wearing a target on your back if your team wins.
  4. "us against the world" has been the mantra of NU fans for over 30 years. If it isn't the national media, it's the refs, or it's the fans of opposing teams in the stadium. When is the rest of the country going to learn that the Huskers never lose fairly, they're never ranked high enough in the polls, and their fans are always the victims of classless opposing fans? Don't believe it? Just read/watch/listen to any of the media in Nebraska.
  5. This season is already soundly humbling the fanbase.
  6. The sellout record won't be in jeopardy for a long time (NU will buy the remaining tickets if that's what it takes so they can continue to claim that the streak is still alive). However, don't confuse "sellout" for attendence. It'll be interesting to see the ratio of red to purple in the stands on Saturday.
  7. He's still employed by Host Communications, he just won't be doing the play-by-play. Unfortunately, he's also still doing the morning show on KFAB (he has the same flair for discussing politics that he had calling the Husker games).
  8. C'mon folks, everyone knows that fans at every other big 12 school act like asshats toward Nebraska fans, and every Nebraska fan acts with nothing but the highest level of class. (The Lincoln Journal Star, Omaha, World Herald, KFAB, and every other media outlet in Nebraska make sure that it's a well documented fact.)
  9. My kids book bags(containing over $300 worth of textbooks) were stolen out of their mother's car in Bag N Save's parking lot(90th & Maple) last week. So I guess we can say, "Those sonzabeyatches in Omaha are the crappiest people in the world. Screw Omaha and everything in Nebraska, by far the worst place to visit in America, worse than New Orleans after Katrina ripped through!".
  10. You just keep telling yourself that enough times and maybe you'll actually beleive it. Ooooooh, now there's some original smack. ROLFMAO!!!
  11. You make this claim: Then you throw this out there to demonstrate your brand of humor: I don't even need to think of a comeback. Thanks for doing the dirty work for me.
  12. I didn't say "ease up", I said "lighten up", and I am being lighthearted about it. You can either let this situation get your panties in a wad, raise your blood pressure, and send you to the funny farm, or you can take it in stride. This town needs an enema!
  13. I could be wrong, but I beleive it's against NCAA rules for anyone connected with a program to contact a coach of another program about a job during the season.
  14. I would have thought that people might have got the message on Wednesday, when Charlie McBride called into BS590 pissed off because of the rumor that he would be announced as the next head coach later that evening. I realize that people are anxious as to what the future will bring in Lincoln, but c'mon people but these coaching rumors, that have been spread since last Tuesday, amount to nothing less than an accusation that Tom Osborne is a liar. TO has always been a straight shooter, and he said last Tuesday that there won't be any head coaching changes until the end of the season. This decision makes complete sense folks. You think things are bad now, what do you think will happen if the coaching staff (or even just a couple) are fired mid season? People, people, people, take a chill pill. Please don't tell me you actually thought that a change at AD (even though it's to T.O. himself) was going to make much of a difference on the field this season. I know it's a bitter pill to take, but realize that this season is in the toilet and there's absolutely nothing that can be done to salvage it. Relax, wait until the end of the season to see what changes T.O. makes, and trust that he's making the right decisions.
  15. If the rumor mill in Nebraska (I live in Omaha and have heard plenty on KXSP590 and KFAB110, not to mention all the stuff that's been posted in here) wasn't so over the top, maybe there wouldn't be anything to poke fun at. I mean, really, when Charlie MCBride calls into a radio show, pissed off because people were claiming that he was going to be announced as the new head coach on Wednesday, it's absolutely ridiculous. C'mon folks, why do you think this situation has gained national attention? It's because this state's gone into a complete tizzy, acting like the Apocalypse is upon us. Lighten up people and learn to take a joke.
  16. If this belongs in the BS forum, then so does 99% of the stuff on the Husker Football board. It's true, Husker fans are the most cordial, and good natured, in college football (as long as the Huskers are on top and winning).
  17. Tom Osborne to be fired. (Either that or he's stepping down from the interim AD position in order to run for God.)
  18. You don't think the very same thing could be said about Packer fans when the franchise went into decline after Lombardi left? Real fans call for improvement, but stick with their team and sell out the stadium. Fairweather fans jump ship.
  19. Sure, they have the right to, but that's pretty much the definition of a "fairweather fan".
  20. The seats don't have to be empty, the boosters are already organizing to take care of business. Like I said, let's see if there are enough real NU fans to keep the sellout streak alive.
  21. Every successful team has fairweather fans. The reason why this season is so hard to take in Huskerland is because the success here has lasted so long that very few fans remember what it was like before that success. Now that the long streak of success has come to an end, the real fans will remain until the program is rebuilt. How long will that take? One can only guess. (Look how long it took the Packers to return to the Superbowl after the Lambeau and Lombardi years. On the other hand, if the chancellor cleans house and makes the right AD and coaching hires, the turn around can be a LOT quicker.) Look at it this way NU fans, dominance never lasts forever, a fall from power was inevitable (sooner or later). Look at any one of the storied franchises and programs in sports history(pro/college, football/basketball/etc.). Now, the bandwaggoners will be cleared from your ranks and the true fans will remain. I grew up in the 70's, during the Osborne years, across the river from Omaha, and was turned off to Husker football by the Iowans who flew Husker flags just because NU was more successful than either of the Iowa teams. At the same time I became a Packer fan during their lean years and stuck with them throughout. Once the bandwagon Husker fans have jumped ship, maybe I'll be able to start appreciating the program. As for boycotting the games; let's see if the Huskers can take a lesson from Packer fans and continue selling out the stadium through the lean years.
  22. how so? please explain. we are mad about what happened last night. we are proud fan base, and I fail to see how that is classless. however coming onto our message board when it is clear that all you are doing is rubbing salt in a fresh wound.....now THAT is CLASSY It's one thing to be mad about the outcome of a game, it's another thing to whine when a team gives the Huskers a taste of their own medicine. if you cant see the difference between playing your 2nd and 3rd team, and running the base offense and running a trick play with your starters.........as I said its clear you are just here to flame on us..... thats classy I've got some cheese for ya.
  23. Wow . . . I was at the game, so I didn't see that sign, but that is pretty bad. Everything remained pretty calm in my section. I was only a couple of rows up from the field and the only trouble I saw between either teams fans were some Nebraska kids threw something on the field and the cops came over and talked to them briefly, but it wasn't really a big deal. I've been reading horror stories on several message boards all day about rude Mizzou fans and a few about out of control Nebraska fans. I never know how much to believe and how much has been exaggerated. I know some bad stuff probably happened, but it is often not as bad as people remember it the next morning. Or as one sided as people want to claim.
  24. Agreed. BTW: those signs weren't only classless, they were downright moronic.
