Bo went off on Watson. I'm not a lip reader, but it was pretty obvious he asked Watson "What the F*&% was that?" and Watson screamed back "It was a F&%$ing audible!" So they both laid into Lee. As for the pitch, as a former high school coach, we never wanted the pitch at the running back's face or above his shoulders. It looked like Helu and Lee didn't have the right spacing, 3 yards away but 3 yards behind, and the pitch is out in front of the running back so he can run into it. I wonder what the original play call was. Helu into the line is my guess. Helu out wide gives Henery a pretty tough angle for the FG. precisely!

i'd second the months, if not years, of practice... Helu is also paying attention up field for the wrong colored jerseys, and you don't 'bullet' a pitch to a guy that close to you. timing, softness of the pitch, distance from the sideline, are all 'feel' things from thousands of these things in practice. even in the true 'option days', there were tandems that never quite got it right, and we put the ball on the carpet a helluva lot...

OP; tackling is terrific! Agreed, and it's damn fun to watch... Other thought; we have a tailgate in Haymarket area, and see many opposing fans for each game just walking the area... Sooner fans (at least the ones who travel) are GREAT! I can't tell you how many Sooner fans told us they'd been coming to Lincoln for a very long time, and love and respect the Husker Nation. i know this is a popular sentiment, but i've got to throw a flag... Huskers were actually kirk's upset 'o the week for VT (and all his best-reasoning behind it). Let's face it, nationally, we've been stepping on our own d_cks for so many years, we don't deserve any love until it's earned (again and again) on the field. back in the old days (see other thread re: 80's), i used to get so pissed at the 'uppity' programs that got all full of themselves because of one win or season... unfortunately, for far too long, that's now us. there's much to be earned back, to be at all relevant in national discussions.

as another 'old guy', I love the chat about this era (my college days)... can't tell you how many games were simply 'over' sometime in the first quarter. ...and Minnesota; Jeezus, playing 3rd teamers and calling audibles INTO the strength of the defense, to keep the score down. NEB - 84 MN - 13 isn't this the team (83), where Joe Paterno said our first team should be ranked #1, and our second team should be ranked #2... btw, we're still talking Big 8 here...

Honest question; Has Wats ever coached a true dual threat quarterback... (and yes, I'm referring to the run, and Cody Green). I'm very curious about what the QB's get in their daily practice reps, reads, etc. Are they taught that the lanes that can open up are also available to them? Or, as i suspect, is this discouraged on the practice field and in the film room - there's always another check-down, or just throw it away... thoughts?

absolutely agree. sharpe does a decent job on the show but its obvious that bo doesn't want to be there. it's still light years ahead of Rose giving Cally the reach around every week... thought of that fiasco makes me want to puke
