  1. Teams without talent (like NU) can do the spread and be competitive. It is the fastest route to offensive success. The west coast offense takes a great deal of talent and developed experience to pull off. Plus, a poorly executed WCO is easy to stop. That is where we are now. Now is the time to experiment with system and to play youth. This season exists now for the purpose of preparing for next year --- it should have been that way from the outset. You do not go into a rebuilding season playing a senior at QB. You play freshman and sophomores, take your lumps, get your experience and play for the future. All it takes is the coaches to recognize that this season is done and that we are dedicated to play for the future. This is how it should have been from the start. I am not certain that a full bore spread is where to go --- but I am certain that the WCO needs to be dumped. Experiment now --- hope you win a game or two in the experimental phase and gear up for next season (which itself is gearing up for the year to follow). No one should expect NU at .500 or above this year or next year --- but if done right, by the year to follow the system can be in place and the team competitive. The best hope to recruit is to tell the recruits that we are gearing up. This, what you see is experimental and developing --- come and see where we can head. WHAAAATT?!?! Are you kidding? Look at the melt down last year and almost managed .500, this year our guys are definitely playing better and we've got a couple still very winnable games. We knew Missouri was a very good team (hence their #4 ranking) and that we are rebuilding, just because we lost to them doesn't really mean too much. I also disagree with not playing Ganz, in my opinion you play whoever gives you the best chance of winning RIGHT NOW, not 2-3 years down the road. Also to the people above that said we're running the ball too much, I'm totally with you on that on. 35 carries for 79 yards or w/e it was, come on. And the game before for 55 yards, just throw the damn ball!
  2. Hard to look forward to that atm either since rivals currently has us 43rd in recruiting >.< That's 8 places behind Duke
  3. Mizzou - 52 Nebraska - 38 Passing Yards - 246 Rushing Yards - 188 Chase Daniel will throw 2 picks, but most of our points will come in the 4th quarter.
  4. When Billy C came and we never won a big game and in the end melted into a pile of mush?
  5. Sorry to hear that On the flip side though, my dad who until last years Okie St. game had never seen the Huskers lose, turned down tickets to go see Mizzou this weekend because he doesn't want to see them lose ever again Wish I would have had the money for gas to get down there, I'd have taken them.

  7. Hardly, they already had the first down with the Suh call and would have put them in field goal range as well so they could have easily ran down the clock and kicked a field goal or even put it in the end zone anyways.
  8. You have chosen to ignore all posts from: EbylHusker. Hmm, why would I do something like that? Anywhos as I said before why can't players just play the game at the end? Seems like at least once every other week got flags on inconsequential and/or questionable penalties really pushing the game in one direction.
  9. Just like a couple weeks ago when a player got flagged for throwing the ball in the air after a touchdown. A couple things about this, 1. suh was already falling and was pushed by VT anyways, 2. flagging Bo was just ridiculous. Just like in basketball for the most part inconsequential penalties shouldn't be called near the end of the game that are going to decide it one way or the other, you need to just let the teams play it out.
  10. i really still dont think VaTech will be a good test for our defense as VaTechs offense is anemic. It will be a good test for our offense though. Why do more people not understand this? LOL Anyways, I think they should be handed out as a UNIT not individually. They play as one and die as one and need to think that way. That being said though I also think people are making too big a deal of it and need to cool down.
  11. Huskers - 31 Virginia Tech - 17 Passing Yards - 344 Rushing Yards - 145
  12. Well I was just looking at the polls and if you look and count the "others receiving votes" we're 34th on the AP poll and 28th on the Coaches Poll. So do you guys think with a win against Virginia Tech that it'll be enough to boost us into the top 25? Also do you think it will depend on the manner of the win? That is to say would we be ranked even if we just win by 1 point? Anyways, just bored and wondering what you guys think.
  13. Wasn't it an 18 point loss not a 14 point loss? Oh and you really can't compare 1 season to another or even 1 game to another as so many different things can happen. But you have to admit they ran all over us. I could have ran through the holes they were opening in our defense.
  14. Just remind her that because they finish the season 3 weeks before everyone else they will still back into the championship game as long as they make a run through the Big 11. LOL that better not happen again. Anyways, guys sounded good tonight, didn't get to watch it though Just wondering since I didn't get to watch it, how were our DB's playing?
  15. Well I watched the first half of the game, and now just checked the final score and saw that Kansas couldn't keep their lead. They seemed to move the ball at will in the first half, and Reesing threw for almost 400 yards and they still lost. Anyways I'm just wondering if you guys think this could have any effect on the rest of their season and if this makes the KU game look a little more winnable.
  16. Yup the leader is supposed to take the blame and then later privately can talk with the players about what they did wrong, but no coach should be calling out their players except in extreme situations.
  17. Really? Well...more than any other LB on our team. Hehehe. That's true, and with Bo as his coach I really think he could've been an absolute beast.
  18. Now I'm normally against a B******, but I think for the first game of Pelini's career along with a very defense oriented video they should also have a defense oriented student section. And our defense has been known as the Blackshirts for some time now and it is supposed to mean something. I think just for the first game it would be a great welcoming of Pelini and a return to the defensive powerhouse.
  19. You're missing one key stat: INT's per game or better yet INT's per attempt. Don't just use TD-to-INT ratio cause like you said, we sat back and passed a lot. Don't want to take anything away from Ganz cause I think he'll win out this fall and will do well. The offense seemed to rally around him and really started to take off. I agree that you need to look at the per game stats vs. his overall stats. The big flaw with his overall stats is that it was for only 4 games, hence only 7 INT's. If you take the stats average per game (4TD/1.75INT) and project it over a standard 12 game schedule he would have had a wopping 48TD's and 21 INT's. Yes the 44% rate compares favorably with Brohm and Brennan, but no one on your list sniffed 20+ INT's last year. That is just way too many. Looking at this another way, NU has averaged 15.7 INT's and 9.7 fumbles recovered per year over the last 10 years. NU also averaged 13.6 fumbles lost per year. NU already averages 4 more fumbles per year lost than our opponents and if Joe continues to average 1.75 INT's a game, then in 2008 the averages tell you that the overall turn over differential could be -9 or -10. That is almost a -1 diff per game and is a terrible number. Too be fair none of them sniffed anywhere near 48 TD's either. And none of them apart from maybe Colt Brennan had defenses that played pass defense nearly the entire game, none of them had absolutely terrible defenses to give them any support, and it also seemed Callahan didn't want him running the ball which he could have done in situations where he ended up throwing picks, which would also bring that number down. Not to mention that he'll have more and more experience as this season goes on and before those 4 games he had never started before. I agree that he has tremendous upside and I am excited to see what he can do with starting experience in the offense. He just looked like he has that Farve attitude too much, if he changes his mentatilty and is a bit more conservative with the ball then he will excel. If he doesn't, 48TD's or not, a -8 TO margin will not allow this team to win 8+ games. A running game would help as well. He needs confidence, not only in himself, but his coaches. Don't think there will be a problem there. The coaches will be 100% behind him, not yelling at him on the sidelines for making an effort to take a play that was busted and doing something with it. Very true about the running game helping to bring some balance and should open up the defenses to also allow for a drop in int's per attempt. Good point about confidence I also agree with that. Lol come on August.

  21. INT's per game means nothing because of how many times per game he threw the ball. I'll give you that INT per attempt is a better ratio to look at and all things considered I don't think these numbers are terrible. Joe Ganz 4.61% Sam Bradford 2.35% Colt Brennan 3.33% Brian Brohm 2.54% Todd Reesing 1.57% Chase Daniel 1.95%
  22. The only negative I keep hearing about him is that he has a tendency to throw a lot of int's well I would just like to ask people where they are getting this idea from. Keep in mind he had never started a game before those last 4 and that about 80% of the time the defenses knew we were going to pass and dropped extra people back to add to the coverage. All that being said he still managed a decent int/td ratio in my opinion. NAME TD/INT INT/TD Ratio Joe Ganz 16/7 44% Chase Daniel 33/11 33% Sam Bradford 36/8 22% Colt Brennan 38/17 45% Brian Brohm 30/12 40% Todd Reesing 33/7 21% Chose Kansas, Oklahoma, and Mizzou QB's as they are in our conference and are really great, and then just chose Brohm and Brennan from the top 15 in pass efficiency randomly last year. As you can see Ganz fit's in with them decently and these are all Heisman quality quarterbacks.
