  1. Mizzou squeaks into the tournament, and proceeds to knock off #1 Texas, 7-3 on day one. Just sharing...
  2. I'm not sure what's funnier: Picking which bowl games teams will play in before football practice begins or people plunking down cash to read it.
  3. I believe John Cook thinks the Colosseum gives the V-ball team a huge home-court advantage. But I think that 15,000 seats could be nearly sold out for the season. I mean - geez - last season all tickets were gone in 1 hour.
  4. Mizzou is not going abandon a rivalry that pre-dates the Civil War. You would want us to burn Lincoln, would you?
  5. Just rumor and conjecture. A call to Mizzou AD, Mike Alden by Mike DeArmond of PowerMizzou.com and Alden says he has not been contacted. http://campuscorner.kansascity.com/node/870 But... the Big 10 will expand probably in the next 3 years, and Missouri is a likely candidate, given geography and media markets.
  6. If you ask any Mizzou fan, "Who is your rival?", you'll get the answer: "Kansas". If you ask "Who else?", you'll hear "Let's go burn Lawrence!!".
  7. Not to take anything away from Suh, but comparing college linemen to their college counterparts won't work. NFL guys have: more weight, more strength, more experience, and - most importantly, more skills. The best coaches and trainers are in the NFL. Even an average NLF lineman would standout on any college team. The guys Suh blew away will mostly never play at a higher level. One college lineman who held his own was Texas Tech's Brandon Carter, and Carter's nowhere near the top OL in the draft. I'd pick Suh #1, but he won't dominate like in college.
  8. I still think they'll take Bradford. Because they're stupid. Bradford's talented, smart and a good guy. But he'll get killed behind that offensive line.
  9. That was a pretty easy recruit. His father, Paul Pressey (26 years in the NBA as a player and coach), has been close friends with Mizzou coach Mike Anderson since they went college together. And Matt's little brother, Phil, will be a freshman next season. Matt and fellow recruit, Ricardo Ratliffe, are considered two of the top juco players in the country - Ratliffe rated Numero Uno.
  10. I get all gitty thinking of the 6'4 265lb Brandon Jacobs when I look at Coe. He would be fun to watch back there..... I worked at Southern Illinois Univ when Jacobs played there. It was a freak show watching him against D2 football teams. When he got moving downfield, all I could think was "Hope he doesn't hurt anybody"
  11. Not NU's Mike Anderson.... Mizzou head basketball coach Mike Anderson. Supposedly Oregon, through Anderson's agent, was prepared to offer $3 million. Anderson not interested, according to KC sportswriter Mide DeArmond. Anderson's currently making around $2 million, and has a top 10 recruiting class coming in the fall, including Ricardo Ratliffe - 6'9", 240#, the #1 junior college player in the country - 27 pts/13 boards per game. http://campuscorner.kansascity.com/node/837
  12. I really think the Rams would be making a mistake by taking Bradford, but with St. Louis football teams having a history of monumentally stupid choices in the draft, they'll probably give Suh to the Lions.
  13. Missouri cooled on a :star :star running back. Now I've heard them all. You're a funny guy MUTigerFan. That's not saying they wouldn't take the kid, but I understand that they're not busting a hump over someone who wants Mizzou to change its offense to suit him. Exactly. Pinkel knows he could never actually get a good running back so they "cooled" on the kid so their feelings don't get hurt. The last school I would look at as a RB outside of maybe Houston is MU. Bingo. Kind of like Texas calling kids and saying that they will offer them a scholarship if they will commit to UT and cancel all trips . . . but if they won't do that they won't receive an offer. Purely a face saving move. (Although, MU has had a few good backs. Temple was above average. That said, no one on their current roster is very impressive.) Derrick Washington ran for 1900 yards the last 2 seasons on a pass oriented team, and had a bad knee most of last season. Not too shabby. Washington looks hesitant. He does far too much side to side running for my tastes. Not to mention he looked a step slower this year compared to last. I wouldn't trade any of the top 3 at NU for him . . . and that's not just rose colored glasses. Missouri fans said similar things about him last year. And it’s probably best not to talk smack about rushing for 1900 yards in two seasons on a Nebraska board. We’ve had QBs with more rushing yards than that. Nothing says grade-schooler better than "talk smack".
  14. The author needs to do more homework. In the Mizzou section, he omitted the current #2 QB, Jimmy Costello who played in 3 games last season. Owen Leander, who was mentioned, was a 2009 walk-on and will likely never play a down.

  17. Edwardsville isn't just right across the river, its a good 45 minute drive to the STL. It's a relative term... it's not like a Chicago suburb or Champaign. Edwardsville and Madison County are in the St. Louis Statistical Metropolitan Area. When I was growing up, Southern Illinois U at Edwardsville sponsored some of the greatest concerts ever on campus... Grateful Dead, the Who, Credence, Dylan, Chicago Transit Authority (before they got all girlie as Chicago), Blood Sweat and Tears, and lots more, all performing in the outdoor ampitheater. Upwards of 30,000 per show and enough dope to light up a whole city. Good times!
  18. Rivals (who I trust more than Scout) lists Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma and Tennessee as the schools he's high on. Doesn't even list Nebraska as low interest. Mizzou offered (Edwardsville is just across the river from St. Louis, and I think Coe's father lives in Columbia), but I think they cooled on him, since he's stated he wants an offense the feature Rodney Coe as the featured back. Mizzou's offense won't be a running attack as long as Pinkel is coach.
  19. NU played lights-out.... and Mizzou played lights-off. Too many injuries and no size. Good luck tomorrow.
  20. Rumors circulating in St. Louis (my hometown) is that the Rams are possibly trading their 2nd round pick (#34 overall) for McNabb. If they do it, they'd be nuts to not take either Suh or McCoy. If they don't get McNabb, expect them to draft Bradford. Hard to win without a QB. Trading a 2nd round pick for a 33 year old QB is a huge mistake IMO, unless you expect to get next year's #1 pick. More good QB's coming next year.
  21. At the least, he'll be driving a decent car... http://www.suntrup.com/
  22. Just because I'm a Mizzou fan doesn't mean I can't be objective... Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting. That's where it's at. The last couple of incoming classes really aren't doing much - Diaz is the only exception. Either they can't or Doc has no confidence. Watch the freshmen and sophomores that Mizzou plays on Sat (Dixon, Stone, Denmon, English, Paul and Bowers) In order to get a player to spend his winters in Nebraska, there's got to be a chance of getting to the NCAA tournament and making some noise. Some schools do it with tradition (KU) some with big population centers to recruit in (TX, MO) some with a coach with big time ties to the AAU program, coaches and players (Frank Martin). NU has none of those. And you won't have the first 2. So... go with #3. NU has to find the next Frank(enstein) Martin. You get a Michael Beasly - if even for a year. Then you get another couple of very good players and have a winning season or 2. Pretty soon you're in the top 20 and hurting some better teams. It's a process, and I don't think Sadler will ever be the solution. Cheers.
  23. Man.. I saw that fella. (Get him in a Boy Band). They should put up warnings or something on the channel lineup/description. I was surfing the satellite lineup and saw "2010 Olympic somethingerother Figure Skating" so I turned to it and just my luck they were having another commercial. So I ran upstairs and grabbed my stopwatch (you know...to time how long it takes for the wimmen's butts to eat their bikini bottoms and turn them into thongs)..The only proper way to score these events. Then I see someone that makes Brian Boitano look butch. Sorry for the homophobic Some Australian TV commentators are in trouble for some comment made during his performance... one said, "He doesn't leave anything in the dressing room". His partner says, "He doesn't leave anything in the closet either!" Great stuff.
  24. uh... it's basketball season. Football doesn't start for 7 months.
  25. and the Tigers are 2.5 point favorite. There's going to be NFL players on hand and a Superbowl Ring.... (Daniel and Maclin to attend with Bad Boy Gabberts)
