  1. It all comes down to this. There is one major dichotomy in the Nebraska fan base at this time. 1. People who don't care that we look like fools and get blown out by 35 points regularly, as long as we reach the all important 9 wins. 2. People who are tired of being embarrassed, and want to see if *GASP*, a coach could potentially get to 9 wins AND not embarrass us twice a season while simultaneously telling us to *uck off. By the way, we play 13-14 games now. 9 or 10 wins isn't what was when we were only playing 11-12 games.
  2. I think if Bo hired two strong coordinators, and took more of a "figurehead" role, he could get it done. He has no problem firing the team up, and is a great player's coach who instills trust. For some reason he refuses to surround himself with the best coordinators, who would challenge his thinking and make us a better team. He'd much rather have yes men who do his bidding and don't ask too many questions. Now that both coordinators have proven to be abject failures, it is simply stubBOrness and is destroying our programs image.
  3. First time head coach that drives the fans to points of no return replaced by a first time coach that has won nothing. Is it because he wore a Jersey here once???? No, its because any head coach that has proven something is not going to want to come here. Failed head coaches and mid-level coordinators is more our speed.
  4. we haven't been taken seriously as a football program nationally in over a decade. So now when we lose by 5 TD's, the national media doesn't make a big deal about it. They just shrug their shoulders and move on to other matters, since it happens so frequently. But hey, 9 or 10 wins, right?
  5. And we are of course fighting for a chance to go get pummeled by Ohio State. I wonder if JT Barrett would have any problem with our defensive scheme? Lol
  6. I don't feel bad for a guy making more in a year than I'll make in my entire life. That is ludicrous. Bo is a great guy and player's coach, so great that he is sacrificing his career by being loyal to his coordinators who quite simply are failing at their jobs. And unfortunately, his loyalty to those coordinators is the seed of his own failure. The fact that John Papuchis is still employed anywhere other than Arby's is possible evidence that Bo has Alzheimer's disease, in which case i would feel bad for him.
  7. OP's list is humorous. Perhaps people are forgetting that even 10 years ago, much closer to our glory days, we were being turned down left and right by any coaching candidates with a brain (what was Billy C, our 4th or 5th choice?), who saw the writing on the wall with our program. OP mentions Jim Harbaugh and Jon Gruden. Harbaugh makes 5-6 million a year. If and when he decides to leave the 49ers, it will be for whatever top NFL job he wants, or going to his alma mater in Michigan if he decides to return to the college ranks. Jon Gruden simply turns down the top NFL job every year, and probably makes $5 million a year sitting around watching football. If/when he decides to return, again, it will be for a top NFL job. We should BEG a guy on the level of Pat Narduzzi or Jim Tressel to come here. Those types of guys are our high end ceiling. A guy like Kirby Smart is not coming here. He has spent his entire life in the SEC. He will wait around for the best SEC job that he wants, and be handed that on a silver platter from anyone with a brain.
  8. Awesome man. Literally been checking this board non stop for the last 3 months waiting for this. The season can officially start! Thanks!
  9. Download the 1620 the zone app. You can listen live, and listen to podcasts of the Unsportsmanlike Conduct daily radio show.
  10. Consider his contacts. You might not like him as a coach but there are others that do. Remember-he has contacts in the NFL. Callahan went right back to the NFL after he left here. I think we have the potential to win it all next year. Sorry, no disrespect but I don't think this was a 'year of insignificance' Those boys played their hearts out. Yeah, they made mistakes but they kept playing. That's commendable. We might have a beef with the coaches but know that those boys read these message boards. They need to hear that we are behind them. GBR! I disagree completely. My guess is we lose 4-5 games next season and the Bolievers point to the inexperience we have at QB as the reason why they think Bo's doing a heck of a job. But we're a long long way from being able to compete for and win national titles. And this staff is a big reason why. The only thing Bo-lievers are better at than blind faith with no results is forgetting that the no results ever happened and recycling the same tired excuses. It has also been funny watching Bo waffle back and forth between "it's about championships" to "its about more than championships" and back to "its about championships" to fit whatever he is trying to say at the moment.
  11. Are you kidding me dude? The fact that you called me out for not watching football is hilarious at this point. Watch any game outside of 2010 up to the Missouri game. That is all he does when met with a defender in space. He is good on occasion at seeing the field and making moves before any defender gets around him (as in the big run against Wisco B1G game last year), but once that defender is within 2 yards, he is crumpling up like a dying flower to avoid a hit. Now maybe that is how he is coached, to avoid injury, but there is no contesting that that is what he does.
  12. I can love the program and dislike the coach. It ain't difficult. I abhor the negative attention he continually brings to the university. I think retaining him as head coach is a mistake. But I hope we win every game next year. However, I'll be shocked, stunned, and flabbergasted if next year is different than this season. Some people don't have the capacity to understand how you can support one part of the program but not another. I guess if we had a national champion team, but one of the players assaulted a bunch of people, we would all have to rally around that guy too BECAUSE YOU GOTTA GET BEHIND THE TEAM, JERKS Would hate to see these people run a company... "Well THIS PART of the company is good, so lets not improve this other part that is hurting us." Very narrow minded.
  13. TOMMY, has never shown to be even close to the runner that Taylor was. True, he doesn't curl up into a ball and fall onto the turf any time he's faced with a tackler. Very un-Taylor like. I'm convinced you have never watched a single down of Nebraska football now. Taylor put his heart on the line for this program, and if anything he was criticized for taking too many hits from tacklers. I wasn't the biggest fan of Taylor personally, but for you to basically call him out on something that isn't even true is an absolute joke. Besides half the time he didn't have to face a tackler since he was burning Wisconsin for a 70+ yard run, or Washington, or Michigan St, or UCLA, or Kansas St or....I think I've made my point Lol, you're convinced I haven't watched any games? It didn't take 5 minutes for another person to come in and basically agree with me. I already said in my initial post that he took it to the house many times, which is all you seem to have said again here. Is this Casey Martinez? Seems like you're a little bit on a hair trigger. Put in a f'ing tampon and lets get realistic about our QB play.
  14. TOMMY, has never shown to be even close to the runner that Taylor was. Tommy won't get constantly stuffed in the open field like Taylor was; conversely, he won't take it to the house like Taylor did. It depends on the offense, I guess. If you want your QB to be explosive and hit game changing plays, Taylor is the better "runner". If you want a fluid offense that stays on schedule, I think Tommy is the better runner in that situation. Taylor is a better straight line runner - Tommy is a better football runner, IMO. And I really hope we get a new S&C program. Tommy has lost so much speed since being here, it is crazy. Exactly, and as I was eluding to in my first post. Taylor is the better flat out speed, Armstrong is the better overall football player. I don't think flat out speed is very important at the quarterback position.
  15. TOMMY, has never shown to be even close to the runner that Taylor was. True, he doesn't curl up into a ball and fall onto the turf any time he's faced with a tackler. Very un-Taylor like.
  16. This players on this team have heart, but are led by a clown. They deserve better, but will never say anything like that, because of foxhole mentality. Sure Pelini showed fire when he got the Unsportsmanlike, but he also left you in the lurch with 15 yards of penalty in a crucial moment. How can they take him seriously when he gets visibly angry at them on the sidelines for doing the exact same thing?
  17. Tommie Armstrong looks like he has a higher ceiling than TMart did. Sure, he's not as flat out fast, but in between the random 90 yard TD runs, we all saw how useless flatout speed alone is on a football field. Tommie hits holes better, uses blocks better and has better instinct at the point of attack as a freshman than TMart ever did. And Stanton pushing him should make them both better.
  18. I think this guy has been in the sun too long down there in San Diego. VITAMIN D OVERLOAD. Nothing about this team should remind you of anything related to, or even 7 degrees of kevin bacon related to the 95 team.
  19. I know most college football programs are looking for a guy with a hair trigger, who points the finger and not the thumb (despite claiming you should point the thumb and not the finger), and also loses 90% of all games that matter by double digits or more. HOLY COW, LETS OFFER AN EXTENSION BEFORE SOMEONE COMES AND STEALS THIS FANTASTIC HUMAN FROM US.
  20. Haha, i know right. Those same people probably turn around and talk about how much America sucks now because of Obama. But I guess it doesn't work that way with football.
  21. I feel like a battered wife who continues to come back for more. Yes, apology accepted. God, I'm becoming a freakin pro at accepting his apologies followed by more meltdowns and crushing losses. But hey, he wins at least 8 a season right?
  22. Slow clap. Personally, I don't even care if he "cares" about Nebraska. I want him to ACT like he cares about it. What recruit with OPTIONS would come to Nebraska in their right mind after this behavior. Can you talk about making someone a better man to their parents when you act like this all the time? Pelini does run a clean program. But jesus christ, at what a cost.
  23. When "my guys" tell me to f--k off and kiss their a-- as i'm paying a donation fee of $8K/year on top of ticket price, I have to wonder if this is really the guy I want to be supporting. When "my guy" applies for every job that comes open, can't get them, so comes back and pretends that he is "all in" on our program, I wonder if that is the guy I should be supporting. When "my guy" loses yet another game by 20+ points to an average opponent, then burns it down in the post game saying he doesn't care if he's fired, i wonder how stable the guy I'm supposed to be supporting is. Everyone is excited right when a guy is hired. But there was very little available data to go on. People were excited because Callahan was gone. Now that we have 6 years of data, we don't have to sit here and pretend everything is rosy for the sake of being a big fan.
  24. When was the last time Nebraska finished in the Top 15 let alone were a perennial top 15 team? 2001? I've learned many people on this board can't be bothered with facts. Nice try though. Roflcopter
