  1. ever since the firing of stevie p he has lacked the husker attire at the press conferences.. its not just people on here noticing it.. the media has pointed it out also.. it is a big deal and goes to show even more that cally knows hes gone
  2. that is very true.. and as i wasnt old enough to hear everything that went on when we were dominant in the 90's (i'm only a student at the U right now...) but im sure that it was all there.. criticism always happens.. everywhere.. well anywhere that is used to being better than average for any length of time.. if we were to have pelini as HC we could possibly bring in a DC that has a proven track record of being able to stop mobile qbs... and combining the two aspects could work together to bring the blackshirts back..
  3. i would not like to see a new OC...
  4. wow.. and i thought that nebraska fans were critical of their team.. from what i see some of those LSU fans have unrealistic expectations.. i honestly believe (along with the majority of the national media and the rest of people here im sure) that they will sorely miss pelini when they lose him.. especially if they are unable to get another great DC in there.. and what did the guy mean by making a bad defense good AND a great defense good.. what great defense did he make good? LSU was always good.. they're in the SEC.. but im pretty sure every year hes been there they've been one of if not the best defense in the country..
  5. just a touch on the character part... a criticism i have heard of pelini and a very plausible reason to why he may NOT get the job (and didnt when he was here originally) is that when at the bowl game he told the players they were men and he would treat them like men as long as they would show up when they were supposed to be there.. reports are there were women in the rooms at all times of the night and they were drinking all the time.. then again, we won the game and played quite well.. i'll hope over there and see how it is.. thanks for the link
  6. hmm.. if i remember correctly it wasnt that long ago when nebraska just rolled over oklahoma all the time.. now nebraska is down for a few years and OU is all cocky? just wait and it'll be back around...
  7. however.. recruiting cannot be the final decision in everything.. we will lose recruits no matter what.. we already have.. losing 1/3 of our recruits in a coaching change is not unusual.. depending who are the targets are for head coach.. if he wants to take his time with the decision and let the current staff stay on IF we were to make a bowl game that is possible.. because we will more than likely have to wait for our future coach to finish his bowl game before we make too much contact...
  8. i highly doubt the staff will be gone anywhere near that quick... bowl or no bowl.. TO said he will wait until the end of the season to evaluate the staff.. even though most of us feel he already knows that cally n co are gone, he will stick to his word and evaluate everything after the season.. an hour after the game on a friday after thanksgiving is not the time to hold a press conference announcing the firing of the coaching staff.. it would happen the monday after at earliest..
  9. what about swift? surely he has to be a go-to threat next season under any offense?
  10. callahan will still be gone at the end of the year.. with the comments he has made about osbourne in the past go to show that he has no respect for nebraska tradition.. TO is obviously pissed about the walk-on program and isnt too big of a fan of the offense.. also, name the players that have come in and GOTTEN BETTER under the callahan-era? Zac Taylor? who else has come in and shown that they are what they were supposed to be.. despite looking better yesterday than we have all year.. cally will not be around next year, and shouldnt be around..
  11. even if it were true.. there is no way he can come out and say its true.. when TO is vehemently denying the idea of making any changes before the end of the year, McBride can't just come out and say "Oh, yes, i will be the interim head coach of the huskers after the Texas game".. its not logical.. so of course even if it turns out to be true, he would deny it...
  12. The team could do the honorable thing and decline any invite for a 6-win season, but that'd be like guving up your blackshirts for poor play. agreed about it being honorable to decline it because they dont deserve it.. at all.. but especially with the money being put out through contract buy outs, and because its nice in general for extra funds, i just dont see it happening.. i would like to because like you said, its not deserved
  13. I think it is quite possible that Osborne is just waiting to see what takes place. Can Callahan rally them to enough wins for a bowl game etc.? With only five games left I think it is very possible that if NU loses to A&M and Texas that Cally will be fired like I Bleed Red stated. By that time even more fans will have written the season off and even if we can pull out two wins in our last three games there is a chance NU still will not get invited to a bowl game. Either way I think Callahan is done at the end of the year and if he keeps losing I think they will just get it over with and get started on finding their new coach. i agree with what you say about the next 2 games.. but COMPLETELY disagree with a 6 win nebraska team not getting a bowl invite.. fans travel to well to not get an invite.. especially a small bowl would want to jump on the huskers asap.. ie. shreveport for independence again, or tempe for the insight? that is IF we get to 6 wins.. not likely but possible
  14. hahah. i wish but there is no way.. kugler has TOO sweet of a gig to leave it.. although the more i think of it w/ stevie p gone there is not longer the kugler hate factor.. he would then no longer be able to do ANYTHING for NET which i don't really see him giving up completely.. especially now that stevie p is gone.. so i guess thats a little more complicated rambling than helpful.. just dont see him, even tho he is GREAT at it.. but rose hopefully will be gone.. cant stand the guy
  15. Quick....somebody organize the cream corn bowl in Lincoln for ..errrr.... Dec 13th or something... we'll invite NU to play Nebraska-Omaha hey, that might be UNO's only loss... let's make it a date......
  16. TO also said on Monday that he hasn't spoken to Perlman about the AD job and then we find out today that he was in Cally's office on Friday.....ummm why would that be?? And then Perlman admits that he talked to Osborne on Sunday. Don't believe everything you hear in press conferences. Also, Perlman said they had to start the search for an AD yesterday and they already had talks with TO. Trust me, Cally is already gone....they are merely waiting until the right time. TO hinted towards getting rid of Cally. You gotta listen to it and in political speak he is not supporting Cally. Not once did he say he supports them. I totally believe this to be true. There is NO way Callahan survives this long-term. Half-measures will avail us nothing. The clean sweep will be made in a timely manner, maybe not as swift as Michael Corleone in The Godfather on Baptism Day, but the Callahan Experiment is definitely in its final death throes. My personal hunch is that Callahan couldn't survive the complete unmasking of all the program's weaknesses at Missouri and the Okie State mauling was simply the coup de grace. I wished it would have worked out for Coach Callahan but he's had his chance. I agree, especially with the way TO dodged the WCO question, and how he made such a big deal of the Walk on program... Cally is done.. i still though have a hard time seeing TO lie like that.. but then again, he has been in politics for the past few years, that always builds that up.. maybe cally will just resign and make it easier on everyone? hah.. doubtful but i trust IBR i just started reading over this 2 days ago at night.. and saw the post yesterday morning.. then joined today, but everything he has commented on has come to par.. so i like it..keep it comin man
  17. so i had everything up and ready to listen right at 4.. when i have a phone call from a friend at ASU.. and i just got off so i obv missed the whole thing.. what all did he have to say?
  18. heres a topic.. will rose still have a job with the new AD? he WAS Pederson's boy... for radio and coaches show..
  19. EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT WHEN I HEARD HIM SAY THAT!!!!! Thought maybe I was the only one who caught it. EXCELLENT QUESTION THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!! I must have read that the wrong way...I took it to mean Pederson did things in Aug/Sept that were really sketchy. Actually he alluded that it all started back in July. THAT is what makes me question why he approve Pud and Cally getting an extension. I too heard and caught that, and a reporter asked Pearlman that question. His answer was that there were several people who had problems with Pederson stemming from July but were too afraid to speak up/out until the football team was bombshelling also when the main fund raiser guy left along with several other very qualified staff members left without Pederson trying to retain them left a very ugly mark on the program All this garbage about Perlman saying the decision to fire Pud was made last week before the game and that there were issues back in July is a bunch of cover up talk. There is no way Pud extension would have gone through if there was a possibility of having to fire the a*hole. The decision to fire Pud came at 2:30 10/13/07. When that game ended and the boosters were pissed Perlman had to do something immediatly. I may have misunderstood what Perlman said yesterday, that is quite possible.. but I didn't hear him say that the decision was made last July.. i heard that the way he did business and treated everyone was brought into question.. and honestly, he has ALWAYS treated people like garbage.. its the way he is.. Perlman said the decision was made at some point thursday before the Okie State game... and that it was confirmed in a meeting before the game... not saying i agree with his choices, because i think pederson should never have gotten an extension and should of been out long before he was.. i do know he said that there were 2 people that submitted reviews of pederson.. one positive and one negative.. according to perlman..
  20. TO will more than likely step in as interim AD and help with the search for a new AD.. i do not see rimmington getting the job because of he has no prior experience as an AD and we need to hire someone that has a proven record, not just a former great.. Not that i would mind it or anything, just don't see it happening.. Bo would be a logical choice to go after for HC, and with a new AD, he may be willing to come back.. if we can't bring him in i would love to see Tedford from Cal, but i don't know if he would leave or not.. i saw Chris Peterson at Boise, and honestly, i would like to see himself prove a little more than just last year.. after all, those were still Dan Hawkins players..
