The part in bold should hold serve to two things this writer believes--that Purdue is going to win the Big 10, and that Nebraska is still fair game for the selection committee. The later point seems to be a foreign concept for some of the chicken littles around these parts, so I just wanted to highlight that. I'm sorry, I forgot how much you know. Your knowledge is far superior to anyone e. God forbid that we look at numbers and base things off that. Of course, we should base things off of someone that is trying to hype a series and get readers interested, not the numbers that have been there for years. Forgive us 'chicken littles.'

Not so sure about that. Remember that other factors come into play when making these decisions--Nebraska baseball puts butts in seats, bottom line. The further north of 40 wins Nebraska is, the more likely we get in, regardless if we win the conference or not. Let's also remember that it's been BA's job, among others, to slag on B1G Baseball for the better part of a decade. Change doesn't come naturally to these folks. I am. The further north of 40 wins? Really? We can only lose TWO GAMES to be able to get to 40 the rest of the way out. To all of you counting the UNK game, it doesn't count towards our win record that way, not a D1 win. If we win out, yea, we'll make the tourney. Will we win out? No way. That's asinine to think that we will with our struggles this year. That being said, 16-2 would still be an amazing finish, and I think most people around here would be happy with a more realistic 12-6. However 36 wins (along with the accompanying RPI, currently 71) does not get us into the NCAAs out of the Big Ten. Hence, we need the auto bid to make it.

This. Pretty sure the Middle Eastern look for Jesus would be the logical decision. If you believe that the Shroud of Turin is real, the image seems to reveal a Middle Eastern man. Obviously belief in that item will be completely dependent on your beliefs and what not, but thought i'd throw that out there. and as far as muslim..... I commend you for having the patience to follow husker baseball. Those guys tweet like mad during the games. Much better than the almost non-existent B1G Baseball feed. It's almost as if the BTN and B1G are embarrassed by their baseball programs. What's worse....two years ago I text'd the "follow Husker_Baseball" to 40404 or whatever, and got every...freaking....tweet sent to my phone until i stopped it... Still follow them on twitter, but that was brutal.

For those that care.... Elise Bolton is bowling today in the Intercollegiate Singles Championships (the United States Bowling Congress' national championships) at Sun Valley in Lincoln. She qualified for the bracketed portion of the event in 3rd of 16. They will resume bowling at 12:45 central. If you want to watch, they have live streaming online at http://www.youtube.com/bowltv . The ISC and ITC (team) events are the club level of bowling that most schools (and all men's school) have for bowling. This is what the women used to compete at before the NCAA picked up bowling.

For reference's sake, Volleyball was the only sport that had its own forum for a long time, based on the fact that they have a huge following and they actually win something from time to time. Baseball used to have it's own...Just head over to the "the only thing the new board is missing" thread just a couple down to see the complaints about it being removed...

I've never denied that and have actually said it on multiple occasions, but heart does not equal wins. We are playing way better than I thought we would this year, but as I've said all along, I still expect to miss the NCAAs and expect Purdue (barring upset in tourney) be the only Big Ten team to make it.

C'mon man. We haven't reached a conference tourney as a men's sport under the current administration? Um... Let's think. Basketball always makes the conference tourney because there is no teams that don't. Football made the conference title game in '09 and '10 before missing it in the Big Ten in '11. Baseball is under a 'new administration' this year, hence no tournament to be able to reach, but if you're talking the past one, they made and won their fair share. Really, you say that matthew is uninformed in the SAME POST that you make that absurd statement... please man, c'mon.

I'll keep in mind next year if the mens basketball team by chance receives any votes in any poll (which they won't) that it is really not that big of a deal. The intent of the original post was not to force any red koolaid down anyones throat but to show people that this team isn't as bad as some think. I personally don't think this team is good enough to make the postseason and I think peoples expectations were unrealistic to assume that the 10th best team in the Big 12 would walk all over the BIG. But the team isn't as good as some people want to think. Our starting pitching is pretty par with each other across the board. Good news for Sunday/midweek but bad news for Friday/Saturday. Receiving votes and "being ranked" being related to the same thing is a joke. We receive votes quite often in baseball polls, including to start the season in a poll this year. It doesn't mean anything. Saying you aren't saying it to force koolaid down and then saying that the "experts" here are "experts after all" is completely contradicting points. Your saying people that say we aren't that good are wrong while saying you aren't saying we're that good....hmmmm confusing? SAY WHAT??? Trying to read your confusing summary of my confusing posts almost made my head implode... my first post was directed towards the baseball fans that think the sky is falling everytime this team loses. From a national perspective, the team is getting some recognition for being a decent team, hence the coaches votes. I couldn't imagine going through an entire MLB season with some of these guys if we cheered for the same team. Even the best teams in college baseball lose and this team is far from that level, hence the 12 loses or whatever it is. My second post is just my opinion of the team. Not worthy of postseason play, as of yet, and not bad enough to go in full meltdown mode after every loss. And you lost me on the experts/koolaide part.. Sorry for the confusion. Ill go back into hibernation until football season. We are not that good. You seem to be using votes in a poll as a sign that we are good, which is not the case at all. This is a poll that we should be ranked in every week, not something we should be thrilled that we are getting votes in. 2nd, you said you "aren't trying to force red koolaid down anyones throats" and we "aren't that good" in your 2nd post, and in your 1st post you said that the "baseball experts on this board think we are no good, they are 'experts' afterall". Those are contradicting posts, flip flopping, if you would. Finally, to bring it all together, you are saying that people who say we are bad are wrong, while you in turn are saying we aren't good. Again, contradiction. Better?

They lost to UMES, who won the title for the 2nd year in a row.. Their other loss was to Fairleigh Dickenson, who finished 2nd. They never should have lost to FD, who they had a 3-0 lead on only lose the next 4 games to drop the match 4-3... As far as women's team excelling, they always "excel" to this level, so it's really nothing new. However, the team wasn't as good as they finished this year. They overachieved a bit. While they were a top 8 team, they weren't one of the top 3 or 4. Bowling being one sport I understand more than any others, they just weren't as talented this year as they have been in the past. Kayla Johnson is an absolute stud, but every other girl has her moments where she struggles a bit. They lose Johnson and Val Calberry this year, but get Elise Bolton, transfer from Sam Houston, who is one of the best female amateurs in the world. It'll be interesting to see how much longer Straub sticks around..

the Big Ten isn't going to get 3 teams in the tourney the way everything is playing right now. The fact that we have Purdue at home does zero for us in the Big Ten tourney when we have to win for the bid. I'm glad your so confident again, but I'm not gonna go all in with you.

hitting .326 as a team with a 3.53 ERA.. 2 starters are sub 2.75. I haven't seen them play really, but a lot of the national guys are in love with them.

HH, Purdue is currently projected at the #8 National Seed, a host spot for the regionals and supers... still think we are the best? I hope you're right, I just think it'll be tough to beat Purdue.

Anderson brought in a lot of talent.. Similar to what Callahan did with football.. The talent is there, just takes time to get everything turned around and get that new style and attitude instilled.

Terrible weekend, but let's put this in perspective. How many people HONESTLY thought we were going to have a shot at an at-large bid without dominating in conference (which just isn't likely)? It's been said multiple times that this is a 1 bid league in most years. Sure, Purdue and NU could have both had great seasons and had the chance to get another bid for the conference, but it's just not overly likely with the RPI hits that both teams will take playing out the conference schedule. That being said, the Big Ten tourney is where we have to win because that is where we have to get our bid from. Losing sucks, but let's hope the coaches and players can learn from it and get something rewarding out of the weekend. This team still has a lot of things to be excited about, and one bad weekend shouldn't stop anyone from showing up at Haymarket. Hopefully we can rebound this week, starting by sweeping KSU.

As stated, don't go there expecting your service to be good.. But the wings are amazing. Haven't had better.
