The source was an OU message board - I agree that Josh makes no sense as our RB coach and I can't image him leaving a full paying coach job to be a GA under Bo.

Rumors coming out of Norman are the Josh Heupel is joining the Husker staff and should be announced soon.

Thanks, I posted this two days ago - long before this thread and before Shatel wrote his column in the WH.

Word from a former player is that Dr. Tom wants Bo for his HC. Turner is being asked to come in as assistant AD to be groomed to take over when Tom is done with his temporary job (which he really doesn't want to drag out - Nancy doesn't want him consumed with NU again, so when he said this was temporary it really was). This fits into why Pearlman went with Osborne - not to interview coaches, but to interview Turner for the AD position. Bo wants to come here and if (there is no offer yet) he is offered, he will come. Osborne still wants to talk to a couple of coaches, but someone will likely have to blow him out of the water. If Bo is the man, expect an announcement that a decision has been reached, but don't be surprised if the coach isn't named until Sunday (which makes no sense - everyone will know its Bo except maybe Miles).

The problem is, people just don't dig enough into the details of LSU's defense. Not only that, but Florida scored all their 24 points early in the game. LSU gave up zero points in the last 15 minutes of that game. The other 'big score" games - OT.

In case everyone hasn't noticed, just about every DC in the game has trouble with a mobile QB. If there was a DC out there that could successfully shut down mobile QBs, every other DC would be imitating their game plans.

Because of the amazingly bad season ND has had and the love affair the media has with them, there have been a number of articles on Weis - especially on why he gets to stay when his predecessors had to go. As Husker fans know, there are a lot of parallels between what has happened to the ND and NU programs under Weis and Callahan this year. However, this is why Weis gets to stay and why Callahan is going to be shown the door: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3118097 Weis accepts he isn't perfect and takes full blame for the terrible season. He does not say he's done an excellent job in every area. He does not flaunt his system and push the blame around. It sounds like he's willing to take a serious look at what he's done to try and find a way to make things better. All the things that Husker fans wanted to see and hear from our coach.

The article could just have easily been about Cally, with the exception of the part where Weis blames himself. Cally routinely fails to accept any blame ("I've done an excellent job in all areas"). Failure to develop the younger talent, failure to make in-game adjustments, failure to motivate the team, failure to adapt are all reasons he won't be back.

Wow, still sticking up for Keller, despite the fact that Joe had a good game. This is not surprising. Callahan's full extent for excepting any blame for the crappy season has never been anything more than - "its our job to prepare and ready the players". When we came out flat, he said that was his fault, but he has never admitted that he might have made a bad choice. Play calling bad? Nope. Play calling is what it is as dictated by the defense giving up points. Picked the wrong starter? Nope. Things that went wrong were not Sam's fault. We didn't win? Not the offenses fault, the defense sucked. Callahan has gone into his full on sales mode. "I am an offensive genius and our problems this year are not due to the offense".

Sadly (and I think most agree), this team had talent this year, but the coaches seemed to be reluctant to tailor anything they do to the talent, instead relying on their systems. Watch out if we get new coaches in next year. People are going to see plays and playmakers and are going to ask why BC didn't play these guys more. The answer will always be - because they didn't understand everything about the system so the less talented, but more experienced guys got to play.

Don't kid yourself, they will be back in the hunt in 2008. Remember, after winning back to back titles, NU dropped off including a shutout game at ASU. Why? no talent? Nope - inexperience. That team rebounded to win their share of a title the next year. They are not invincible nor the greatest team ever, but they are going to be rock solid next year.

What are you guys thinking? If Keller doesn't play, they aren't going to put in designed plays to get Ganz running. BC will do what he always does and tell Ganz to throw it away instead of running. The last thing he wants is for Ganz to also get hurt. Look for a lot of running until we get down and have to pass. Not that BC doesn't trust Ganz, but he doesn't trust his line to protect Ganz. We don't see Witt unless Ganz gets hurt too.

K-State. Regardless of how they played this year, the seniors have had to put up with BC and crew for most or all of their time here. Let their last home game be a memory of (finally) putting it all out there in front of a packed house and getting that win.

The USC game last year. I was one of the guys that said Cally needed time to get his players and get everyone on the same page. While the losses in the first couple years were painful, I could see progress, but that USC game was bad last year. The play calling was terrible and instead of coming out fired up to try and unseat a top team and show the world we were back, we played tentatively and tried not to be embarrassed. I think Cally probably lost the team at that point. While their analysis of the USC D may have been correct, the players didn't buy into the plan. After that, it became clear that it wasn't important to get the play makers on the field, but rather to get guys in that could play the scheme.

I believe the radio report with Charlie asked if he would confirm/deny the rumor he was coming in to take over the defense (I could certainly be wrong). As far as I have heard on the radio shows, McBride has not said he wouldn't take over the head coaching duties - he said it was ridiculous to think he would step in to take over the DC's job... A lot of the reason that the rumor mill is going as hard as it is, seems to be from the Clinton-esque side-stepping of things: Osborne says HE won't fire coaches (but didn't say he wasn't planning for what to do if BC and co walk off). BC says he's not quitting (but doesn't say he can't be bought off, which in his mind is being asked to leave, not quitting). I'd like to hear the media ask Osborne: Have either you or any agent of the athletic department contacted either Bo Pelini or his agent (or any other coach)? I'd like to hear the media ask Callahan: Have either you or your agent been approached about a buyout prior to the end of the season?
