  1. On the North end-zone, Brown and Novak's numbers are in red because they are the only ones that have died.
  2. I took some visiting family and friends to the Husker Experience room in North Stadium on Thanksgiving Day. As usual, once the show finished, the doors opened automatically. Who was standing there waiting to enter next? Taylor Martinez, his dad, and a couple of younger kids. As we were leaving, Mike McNeil came in the front door and went out of his way to walk over to Taylor's dad, say hello, and shake his hand. If what has been stated in the OP is true, I find it hard to believe that a senior leader like Mike McNeil would even acknowledge his presence let alone go out of his way to stop and say hello to Taylor's dad. I'm not offering this as any indication that Taylor won't leave or that there wasn't a serious discussion about his future with the team. However, Bo said very directly that Taylor was not suspended and it is hard to believe that he would lie outright and directly about a topic like this, especially if it was a known fact throughout the team. Just my two cents.
  3. Green = Starter vs. ISU Martinez = 80% with ankle sprain Lee = out for season with wrist injury There is no lack of confidence in Cody from coaches or teammates. He's way beyond capable.
  4. As for the damage in the picture, that's what happens when a LandRover hits a LaBaron broadside at just about any speed.
  5. .035 is not DUI (far from it). There was no arrest unless it was for reckless driving. Suh is not going to be suspended for this. Oh, and I'll bet all three of these folks will get new cars once Big Suh graduates.
  6. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Kevin's not visiting KU and he isn't going to KU.
  7. Not a Rivals member, but the individual in the picture is Brandon Kinnie. He's a Juco WR from Fort Scott, Kansas. He appears to be "N".
  8. The only VERIFIED fact about the Cody Glenn situation: "We're not commenting on that situation just for the privacy of the young man," Carl Pelini said. "It was a violation of team rules and that's going to be kept in-house."
  9. Your cousin? Indefinitely suspended for being insubordinate? That's what you came up with? Seriously?
  10. Alonzo Whaley Outside linebacker Madisonville (TX) Madisonville Ht: 6-foot-0 (Event) Wt: 213 lbs Forty: 4.58 secs Was scheduled to visit 1/25 but will reportedly now be in Lincoln tomorrow. Turn on the stadium lights and fire up Huskervision !!
  11. I will elaborate ... Moore has committed to Tulsa. Furthermore, he never had an official offer from Nebraska.
  12. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Huskers will have a new head football coach this weekend. Brian Rosenthal from LJS wrote, "One player told me that Osborne didn't name any candidates in the coaching search, and would only say that a coach may be hired by this weekend." How cool would it be to have CBS talking about our new head coach (and showing him on the sidelines) throughout the SEC Championship Game?
  13. A little less than 5 years ago, two guys worked together to come up with a game plan to beat Michigan State in the 2003 Alamo Bowl. The Huskers gave up 3 points to the Spartans who managed only 18 yards rushing on 23 carries. The Nebraska defense sacked MSU QB Jeff Smoker 5 times and came up with three pass interceptions. The Nebraska offense tallied 17 points and 389 yards of total offense (229 yards rushing, 160 yards passing). The Huskers did not have a turnover. Think about those numbers for a second. The defense came up with 3 turnovers and gave up only 18 yards rushing. The 2007 Huskers got one turnover in their last 7 games and I doubt any of us could count the number of individual running plays of more than 18 yards the "blackshirts" gave up this season. OK, so the 2003 Alamo Bowl was one game. But it was one game that followed a tumultuous month of coaches and players pulling together after the firing of head coach Frank Solich. Fast forward to November 2007. The two coaches that led Nebraska to that Alamo Bowl victory are vying for the same job, or are they? Could it be that they are going to be asked to pull the team together after the firing of a different head coach? The guy who coached that team, Bo Pelini, has been a defensive coordinator for two very successful programs since leaving Nebraska. He is apparently very interested in coming back as head coach at Nebraska because he just took a plane ride from Louisiana to Georgia with the University President an the Athletic Director to talk it over. I wonder if the subject of assistant coaches came up? The conventional wisdom is that Turner Gill would not leave a head coaching position for an assistant coaching job. For most guys, that would be too big of a blow to the ego. But what if the guy you worked for most of your life, the guy you asked to be the best man at your wedding, the guy you admire more than anyone in the world, asked you (on behalf of the new head coach) to come home and help rebuild their broken house? Would you do it if you knew you weren't going to be the foreman? I know, it's a stretch. But this is Rumorville. It's the place for "what if's". Can you imagine it? Do you think Tom Osborne can imagine it? Most importantly, can Bo Pelini and Turner Gill imagine it? Will Tom Osborne go for two?
  14. I am very confident that the coaching search is down to two. Bo Pelini and Turner Gill. I was hoping for clues at the press conference as to which one of these two guys it would be. Tom was quick to point out that he has been talking with Gill on a weekly basis. He also mentioned the names of several other coaches he has been talking with. Every one of them has worked with Gill. All but one of them (Bohl) has worked with Pelini. On more than one occasion during the press conference, Osborne also mentioned the need for someone that can motivate players. (Bo Pelini, move ahead ten spaces). The LJS was handed the story about Pelini being contacted by a search firm. It sure would be interesting to know who leaked that. I guarantee you it was someone in Pelini's camp. I am also certain that Osborne knew the search firm was being contacted, but not sure if he knew it was going to take place before the press conference. Bo wants this job. If Solly is correct, and I believe he is, Pelini will be interviewed by Osborne tomorrow or Monday. Unless Tom wants to take on the folks that brought him back to the athletic department, Pelini will get the job. The only one with enough clout to derail the Pelini express is Tom Osborne. Would he do that for his good friend Turner Gill? Not likely unless Pelini totally blows the interview. As for the requirements for waiting a specific amount of time on hiring because of NU being a state institution. Yeah, tell that to Solich, who was given the same job by Osborne without the formal approval of AD Bill Byrne. In other words, this job ain't gonna be posted on the state's employment opportunities web site. There may be other perfunctory interviews, but Nebraska will have a new head coach very, very soon. Plan A= Bo Pelini. Plan B-= Turner Gill.
