Rivals with a short blurb about Riley and his start at Nebraska. What caught my eye was the last sentence where the author mentions Bielema being offered the job. Not sure if this has ever been proven, plus if it is true Mr. Eichorst told us a lie. https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1806720 "Nebraska could have Bret Bielema coaching right now after the Huskers offered him ahead of Riley. Sometimes a loss is a win off the field too."

I agree with you hundred percent. But at the same time it doesn't take most people nine or 10 months to find a house. Especially when you probably have a pretty nice budget. I consider myself one of those and I do agree. Just think how his players must feel about playing for him. That lends to a team that not only plays with poise but passion. That's the type of team I can root for

Yeah, it's like when there are cows out in the corn field, and then the farmer harvests the corn, and then the cows go back in the field but it's not the same corn field cuz the corn is gone, Or something. I knew you were a Hawkeye

At what point do we stop bringing up Bo to defend Riley?

No. Snyder defeats your argument.....as would Dennis Erickson. It can be done at schools with less resources. Riley simply didn't. -

Yeah they'd be lying since it technically isn't that field that they will walk out on

I live in Iowa and I agree with that assessment. Sure seems to act like one -

Riley's .500 career record over several decades and zero conference championships in his career is enough on it's own. I would guess Pelini and his direct deposit are doing just fine.Look up Nick Sabans record prior to LSU. Stellar He was 43-26-1 prior to LSU. That's a .623 winning percentage. Oh didn't realize a 9% difference in win percentage was grounds for dismissing a comparison. So when Mike Riley does win are you going to be celebrating or will you be a fan of the undefeated team that year? Just curious -
Field has actually been redone a couple times since 95 so it's actually not the same field

Stellar Saban had only been a head coach a few years prior to LSU......and never had a losing season. Riley has a 9 loss season in recent years. Stop attacking Riley!!! What exactly do you have against Riley? Has he taken away your manhood by losing two football games? -

What exactly did I say that set you off? Oh wait, I bet it's not what I said, but what I am thinking. Cuz I bet you know exactly what I think about Husker football, amirite? Not difficult at all -

Mike called you to tell you his heart isn't into it? Seems like the type of man to step down from his post of true. Let's just go ahead and make assumptions about people...sounds like a brilliant idea. Maybe you'd be able to put you're heart into coaching the big red into the playoffs?

You know those Husker fans at games that completely make a fool out of themselves because they are yelling ridiculous things that make no sense and show a total lack of knowledge for what they are talking about...I think I have found one in this thread. If I had to guess I'd say Redneck is the same person that last year was screaming from Row 88 at Pelini to fire Papuchis, for Defensive adjustments to be made, and for Stanton to come in at QB. Do those people losing their minds understand that we are 3 games into the season, not 3 years? Do they also understand that when change happens not everything transitions perfectly? Do they understand that under the circumstances Mike Riley is doing a heck of a job guiding young men through a difficult time while still teaching them how to play good football. In 3 games I can honestly say I'm proud to have someone as experienced and talented as Coach Riley leading our football program. I can honestly say being at the Miami game was one of my favorite games I've been to. It tops NW Hail Mary because honestly that game featured terrible football. That type of football is going to be few and far between here under Riley, and that wasn't more evident in the way the team responded after just about everything went wrong in the first half. I saw young men being taught the right things and turning a corner. Is it all about wins? We seem to look back fondly on past eras like we were undefeated for 25 straight years under TO. For those with an understood outlook on this season they know that it is about so much more -

Possible suspension? Some WR's maybe not ready?

I can't even imagine the reaction we would have seen on message boards/twitterduring some of the things that happened in the Osborne era, mainly the LP incident. Everyone had their opinion then, just as they do now but weren't able to publish it for the world to see. Mike Riley is a professional coach. Are we going to agree with everything he does? Probably not. Did we agree with every single thing TO did? Nope. But some may look back with such fond memories that they forget those times. Mike Riley is very good at what he does, and he knows exactly what he's doing. The only thing I can say is maybe he does not fully grasp just how many people actually care about a daily coaches in this state. May have underestimated how people would react to what he would see as everyday comments in that setting. I'm sure he's still getting used to going from no one caring, to every word being over analyzed by thousands and thousands of people. -
Haha, ya right. What NU needs to do is pray for rain the weekend of the Washington State game. If he visits Oregon, he's gone. Nuff said. Man, these next two years are going to be tough for you during the non conference portion of the schedule. I've gotta disagree however. Not really sure what makes the sights in Eugene head and shoulders above Lincoln, other than a nice little bias.

Bo Pelini had to go and Mike Riley had to be hired

Why? I realize these are Nike but the grey uni thing is in and these are pretty good

Not necessarily the place for politically biased arguments. This is a football board....let's stick with football.
