  1. Nebraska is far more liberal than you might think. The 2008 vote was split 60/40 in favor of McCain. Nebraska is one of very few states who split their electoral votes, and Obama actually won one of Nebraska's three Electoral College votes. Obama won in the two largest population centers in Nebraska, Omaha and Lincoln.
  2. Yeah, it looks like it was simply an honest mistake, and one that stems from the totally understandable NCAA rules on student athletes!!! I don't know. It seems like this was something the Bookstore was doing because they were athletes. That is definitely obviously not OK. If we find out everyone in these classes was 'given' these books that would be different. But I don't think we're going to find that out.
  3. At a time when the NCAA is looking to hammer people, any violation is a bad thing. Still, I'd rather it be about textbooks than tattoos.
  4. Lahvosh is ridiculously easy to make. We get it most every time we go to Lazlo's but I've only recently started making it at home. They sell the crackers in a three-pack at Hy-Vee, and then it's just whatever toppings you want and Havarti cheese. I'm disappointed that you buy your crust, dude. I expected more from you! I made mine from scratch the last time. I still need to work on getting it as crispy all the way across though. I cook enough as it is. I don't have any interest in making lahvosh crackers.
  5. Culture is the biggest thing. I think we had common culture with everyone from Oklahoma north, but once the Texas schools showed up, the culture changed dramatically, and we no longer fit. Colorado never really fit, either - they're far more a West Coast school than a Midwest school. They'll prosper in the Pac-12. We'll prosper in the Big Ten, if for no other reason than the fact that we're so very much like Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Sparty, Ohio State, etc. We're unlike PSU and Northwestern, but not so tribly much so that we can't find common ground. It seemed like, no matter what happened, we just could not get on the same page as Texas, Texas Tech or Baylor. A&M was somewhat like us, but not tremendously so, either. Not sure the Big 10 will be different in football then the Big X!! was, but basketball will only bring your program up a step or two, as well as "most" other sports programs with the exception of baseball. NU will bring Big Ten baseball up a notch or 3! In Academics, you will rise very high, as now NU will receive BILLIONS in CCC reasearch money, being a member of the BIG *hate that logo). In football you will finf natural "Big Time" rivals in U of M , Penn ST, tOSU and Iowa. You will find warm rivals in MSU, Wisky, and maybe Illinois. You will worry about having an off day against Northwestern, Minny, and Purdue. You will never worry about Indiana till Basketball. To start a rival in the Big 10, you have done that already, No one in the Old Big 10 wants a new member to winn the conference. Best of Luck Nebraska Red! I'm not talking athletically, I'm talking culturally, like the mindset of the folks. Midwestern rather than Southern. That's a very big difference in where a person is coming from.
  6. It sucks, too, because I've never seen that game in its entirety except the night it aired live. I should buy the DVD, but I'm cheap.
  7. Not on BTN. I would have recorded it.
  8. Anyone ever go to Spikes for their burgers? Fantastic burgers, man. They may be my new favorite place besides my own grill.

  10. Welcome to the board, macspartan! You'll get no argument from us about that "borrowed" 1997 championship Michigan has.

  12. I think it's a fait accompli that Michigan wins this. That doesn't mean that the bots have to die, however. Presuming Michigan wins, rework the bots so they vote for Michigan in the next round, and run them 24/7. Put 50 million votes on this thing, put 100 million on it, so ESPN has to acknowledge that their stupid contest is so easily hackable that it's worthless.
  13. That is the kind of video you can shoot when you know you're the baddest m'fer in the room.
  14. To be fair, I don't think huskerfan333157 said anything about us having a bad defense, just one that's not as good. Our defense wasn't "as good" after we lost Suh. So it's not entirely unfair to think we might not be as good after losing someone as good as Prince. Losing Suh, Dillard, and Asante had an obvious affect on our run defense. So it's reasonable to think losing Prince, Hagg, and Gomes will have an affect on our pass D. But all things considered, I wouldn't be surprised at all if we have a better defense this year. I think Moiraine is saying - and I think you and most everyone else would agree - that we're going to be "good" on defense while Bo is here. We'll vary between top-15 overall ranks here and there, some years being top five, some years around 10-15-ish, but overall defense will continue to be good. Some will be better than others and some will be a step up or a step down from the previous year, but we will not have a "bad" defense while Bo is our coach. Does anyone disagree with that? I don't think they will. That's what Moiraine is getting at.
  15. I see no problem with this result. The less we have to do with this farce of a contest the better. Yes, there's cheating on every side, by every fan base, ours included. The Michigan/Nebraska battle just showed how badly skewed the vote could get.
  16. I've seen people drink and become annoying in stadium parking lots all over this country. It isn't unique to Lincoln and Nebraska fans. Agree with both Nebula and teachercd. I've seen this at Husker tailgates, and I've seen it in Manhattan and Ames. Shockingly, I think those are the only road sites I've been to. I've "been educated" in non-football settings by fans of at least a dozen other teams at bars, and online pretty much every single fan of every single team I've ever talked to. My experience with Husker fans is greater due to the number of times I've gone to Husker games, though. I got called on it once by a CU fan for doing it myself, too. So I don't know that we're the worst, or the best, but I think we're about like everyone else.
  17. Actually, we heard it HERE first, back in October. Apparently these Moc fans all know about this, and are quite proud of it.
  18. Actually, they can keep their little wooden plaque. We'll stick with the giant crystal trophy.
  19. Not that there's much left of them after your last nine games...
  20. I don't think the guys really care about his hair all that much. In fact, I had to stop and think what you were even talking about before responding. It was an impressive do, but I like the clean-cut look better.
  21. But he's not smiling or waving his arms around like he's happy. So he clearly wishes he were somewhere else. Either by himself or with a select few freshman he can trick into liking him. Notice how he's standing in the back, as if he's trying to hide. A real leader would be unselfish and stand in front, close to the camera, and give a giant flex. Seriously???? Kyler Reed isn't even smiling...I guess he's not enjoying the cook out. The big guy laying on the ground I think thats Jay Guy? not sure but he's not smiling he must not be having fun. Just because people aren't smiling doesn't mean that they're not having fun. I know several people who don't like to smile for pictures because they prefer not to, doesn't mean that they're not having fun. All of this Martinez crap is getting old No, not seriously. Saunders was joking.
  22. C'mon, man. You've already been given a list of coaches who disprove this myth you're projecting here. Bobby Knight is the most obvious example and he screamed so hard at his players his face turned purple. Knight had ten Sweet Sixteen appearances and won three national championships with Indiana, all the while yelling at anyone in earshot. It's fine that you don't like Bo, but at least have something concrete to denounce him for.
  23. I think calling our O Line the single biggest concern on the team is not an understatement. All the feel-good posts in the world won't make me feel any better until we're knee-deep in November and the guys are still playing effectively.
