  1. Did anyone else hear the idiots announcing the game say when Henery took off that this wasn't unusual since he's a rugby-style kicker?!?!?!?! My eyes almost rolled right out of my head. I knew what he was doing from the first step he took, and I was not happy. I didn't think he'd pull it off, and I couldn't remember where the line was that he had to get because they pulled the yellow strip off the screen for the punt. It turned out OK, but I almost had a conniption.
  2. Those are good points, Fro, and it really speaks volumes about college football today. Any team can beat any other team if one has a bad game, simply because the talent is spread around so much more than ever before. The margins between teams is really pretty slim. A lot of it hinges on schemes, matchups and execution. I wouldn't try to predict this game for love or money. Lock me in a room until the game is over and I'd believe you if you told me: Missouri blew out Nebraska Missouri beat Nebraska on Nebraska's mistakes It was a close game but Missouri pulled it out It was a close game but Nebraska pulled it out Nebraska beat Missouri on Missouri's mistakes Nebraska blew out Missouri I really have no idea which team will win. And I have no idea if it'll be a good game or crap.
  3. Missouri being 0-15 on the road vs. top 25 opponents would probably fall under that category, no?
  4. Who is chest-pounding and claiming invincibility? All I said was that I think Missouri is the better team with the results of the games to back up my claim. I also called out Enhance for his claim that Missouri has only played one good game and looked bad in the rest of their games and almost lost to a Division II team. Telling enhance that he's "spouting off" when all he did was point out real in-game results sounds a lot like chest-pounding to me.
  5. not pimping SDSU but I am off the opinion that they could beat nearly every team you have played so far. With the exception of Texas and OSU. I dont think thats too far out to say. Would they beat them all....thats a question that cant be answered, but I think they would have a pretty good shot at the rest of them Meh. Washington could beat most everyone on your schedule. Doesn't mean they're a good team. The point of the SDSU conversation is that Missouri cannot chest-pound and claim invincibility when they nearly lost at home to an unranked opponent, as Bad Breath was attempting.
  6. Question to the Tigers fans pimping San Diego State - are you guys of the opinion that Washington is a quality team? What about Idaho?
  7. Apparently you missed the fact that Missouri trailed unranked San Diego State at home with less than a minute to go in the game? A TD with 52 seconds left to eke out a win against an unranked, crappy opponent kind of fits what enhance was saying, no? You're welcome to pound your chest, and your team has earned you some boasting rights, but let's not lose our minds here. Missouri is by NO means invincible. True they are not some power house but to be fair knappy they are #31 in the AP poll. They are not nearly as bad as you and others make them out to be. They lost to BYU. 3-5 BYU. Let's not make a silk purse out of this team, shall we?

Well, I'd like to point out that San Diego State is not a D2 school. They're FBS all the way and are a quality top 50 team. I know I'll, probably get blasted for saying this, but good teams find a way to win those games. Were they down 24-20 with a minute to go? Yes. Did they give up? No. Remember, you guys had trouble with South Dakota State (FCS school) at home this year. Did you find a way to win it? Yes. Neither team is invincible, and I don't think anyone is saying they are. Did you just use the word "quality" referring to San Diego State? This is the same SDSU that has scratched out a 5-2 record against the 112th SOS, right? The same team that lost to 3-5 BYU, right?
  9. Have you voted for Sydney today? I did. See the thread in Other Husker Sports.

  10. Have you voted for Sydney today? I did.
  11. Where: Austin, TX When: 8pm CST TV: ESPNU - TimeWarner Lincoln channel 235(SD)/112(HD), Cox Omaha on channel 220(SD)/737(HD) Radio: Lincoln - 107.3FM
  12. I would love to watch that game. I think Boise pulls it out, because I think they're as good, if not better than, any team in the nation. But it's so hard to say with Boise because their schedule is so horrific, and continues to plummet weekly. Even in our "worst" SOS season in recent memory this year, we're still playing a tougher schedule than Boise St. That's what kills them - they have such a weak argument when it comes to "who have you beaten to earn the MNC" that we'll likely never see them in the MNC game unless everyone else has two losses.

  14. As much as we're griping about our defense, Auburn's has given up almost a touchdown more points per game. Without Cam Newton (your 2010 Heisman Trophy winner?) they're not 8-0. Clemson, Kentucky, Arkansas and LSU were Cam Newton bail-outs.
  15. When Kellen Huston popped that Missouri fan in 2003, the fan declined to press charges as well - turns out, had he pressed charges, Missouri would have pressed charges against him for trespassing. Basically it would have been a mutual-fault issue, and it would either have been thrown out or both would have been penalized. Both decided to drop it, if I recall correctly.
  16. I wouldn't automatically crown the SEC West winner the best team in the country. Somebody will win it by default, and they'll be good, but best? Hard to say. They'll certainly have a legitimate argument. As for USC, it's hard to say. They've played a pretty good schedule, but that loss to Washington kills their respectability.
  17. I think the tinder is gathered and that it's very, very dry. The only thing lacking is the spark.
  18. You and me both. I'm beginning to think we should start looking for Steinkuhler on the side of milk boxes. Through seven games he has 29 tackles. Maybe I'm being unrealistic, but I expected a LOT more out of him this year. Overall this defense has not performed how I expected. Even understanding the roles these guys are asked to play - pocket containment, not balls-out rushing up the field, we're still not seeing what I expected from the D Line. We're getting gashed on the ground by even mediocre teams because our D Linemen aren't shedding blocks, and if LaVonte doesn't make the tackle it seems nobody does. Hagg and Martin have a combined 40 tackles on the season, with another 21 from May, Whaley and Compton combined. COMBINED. Even counting all of those guys together you still don't equal David's 78 tackles, and frankly, I'm terrified what'll happen if David gets hurt (by Thenarse, if not the other team ). I agree that if we don't shore up our problems that we've exhibited so far this year, we're going to get whipped. It'll take a performance by Missouri's offense like our O did against SDSU & Texas for us to pull out a win the way our DEF has played so far.
  19. Oregon is hardly the best undefeated team in the country. All its gonna take is for them to score fewer that 35 points and they'll lose. In fack, I may make USC over Oregon my lock of the week this week. Oregon's SOS is 59th, or just about middle of the pack right now, and they're not only the #1 scoring offense in the country (by 7 points per game over #2, which is a huge margin this time of the year), they're also ranked 12th in scoring defense (16 pts/game). You say "All its gonna take is for them to score fewer that 35 points and they'll lose" as if holding them to 35 is an easy thing to do. First, that's not all it takes to beat them, you'd have to hold them to under 17, and second, you're going to have to score more than 17 on them. Oregon has held four opponents to 13 or fewer points, and pitched two shutouts so far. Both shutouts were against weaker-than-weak opponents, but neither Boise, Auburn nor Missouri have more shutouts, and only Auburn and Missouri have played tougher schedules. You are welcome to take USC over Oregon, but I do not think you are going to enjoy the results. The only chance USC has of beating Oregon is the proverbial "any given Saturday" chance. Oregon is a better team.
  20. I'm going to the game. I have never attended a game in which we've lost. Let's not have that streak end this week.
  21. No, they haven't. And no, they won't in this case. Their win over Oklahoma was far bigger than a win against Nebraska would be.
  22. Back to topic - this is, of course, the truth. Blaine cannot be faulted for going to Missouri amid the turmoil of our coaching change. Once he went, there was very little chance of us getting Tyler. Any animosity towards them for this decision is misplaced. We should be honored that they considered us as strongly as they did over a good school in their home state.
  23. Not only did you not cite the source for that poem, you stole it from a chick movie. Bad, bad, bad. first, how would you know? second, i saw it in junior high, so it is legit. you have limited options in junior high, you see what your friends say you will see. third, i guess that was the point of the joke, it is a ridiculous movie capped off with a ridiculous poem. How would I know? Umm...... would you believe it's a lucky guess? I can guarantee you it's not because I like that movie. And I most certainly do not own that movie. And I most certainly do not watch that movie with my wife when she wants to watch chick flicks because even though it's a chick flick, I like it. No freakin' way is any of that true. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go pound some nails into boards with my fists. Or some other equally manly thing.
  24. I would rank them (from best to worst): Oregon Boise St Auburn Missouri TCU Michigan State Utah So no, we're not even close to playing the "worst of the unbeatens." Missouri is solid in the run game, prolific in the passing game, and has a shut-down defense. They play decent-to-good special teams and they have beaten Oklahoma, who is probably as tough as Nebraska in their own ways, and tougher in others.
