  1. I don't think you can boil this down to one thing that is "most important," because that changes from election to election, sometimes day to day, and certainly from region to region. The country as a whole has varying needs based on the day, the election year, the era. This is a really hard, if not impossible, question to answer.
  2. This is the point of this forum. It's like going to the Husker Football forum and being surprised to find a debate over who should start at QB. What did you expect?
  3. It's sad when this is the best another prognosticator can come up with:
  4. "Swagger" is simply a buzzword to describe a team on top. It's like "keep the drive alive" or "smashmouth football." It's just the current popular phrase.
  5. I do. And the Ahman Green/LP comparison was weak on my part. Both are positions where you need depth, but it's not exactly apples to apples. I get where you're coming from, though, and totally agree that I don't want to burn Rome's shirt for a few snaps against patsies. We could have another year of Amukamara if HWSNBN hadn't put him in for a few plays here and there. We burned a lot of shirts for basically no reason under the previous administration.
  6. When I lived in California I missed the people back here. But I never missed the weather. I'd like to have the people of Nebraska with California's weather. That would be perfect.
  7. This is a typical character assassination you hear from "the other side" when the OTHER other side is in power. If you believe Obama can't speak without a teleprompter you probably believe Dick Cheney was really running the whole show and Bush was a figurehead, or some other such nonsense propaganda the Left was putting out when Bush was president. It's all bunk. No it's not a character assassination. He literally can't speak coherently without a teleprompter. The news even showed it and since then he has never spoken without a teleprompter.
  8. I'll be excited when he's on the field playing. Until then, this is still a long, long, long shot.
  9. Do yourself a favor and go find one of the players that have played against us, or Texas, or Florida, or USC, or Notre Dame, or Ohio State, etc, etc, etc. Ask them if we should feel bad for them, or if they had a blast playing the game.
  10. Hmmmmm...... Our toughest non-con opponent, at least offensively, kicks a kid off the team for what's rumored to be a similar reason Q got kicked off the team a year ago. You don't think there's any chance we're pumping this kid for information on what the Huskies are planning on doing this year, do you? Certainly that's not the only reason we went after this kid, but you gotta wonder...
  11. While I agree with both of you, none of this means Alex is big or buff. The kid is slender by any measure, and even more so for a football player. Why is this a bad thing?
  12. I suppose someone had to say it. Good on ya, G.
  13. I'm just saying I've met Alex twice and he's not a big guy. He's very much not a big guy. Put him up against Joe on the Street and he's a little more buff, but he's no bigger. He's tiny for most football players. I will also mention that it's possible that his listing isn't entirely accurate. I'm 6'3" and he was not looking me eye-to-eye. But as I said before, nobody really should care how "big" Alex is. If he's got the skill to play that's all that counts. Muggsy Bogues was "too small" to play organized basketball, but he had a 14-year career in the NBA. Size matters not.
  14. A Communist N. Korea means there's a buffer between extremely US-friendly South Korea and China's border. It also keeps the US occupied and spending money in other places than focused on Beijing. There are probably a dozen more benefits, but those are good for starters.
  15. Certainly there's reason for concern, but Kim isn't so deluded as to have lost all sense of self-preservation. If he ever gets that far I expect China to replace him. A Communist N. Korea is a useful tool for Beijing. An uncontrollable madman isn't.
  16. This is why I moved this to Rumorville. I haven't heard a thing indicating he wasn't at practice yesterday, or today.
  17. You're right - I meant roster, not depth chart.
  18. It's difficult to believe that they would use nukes. They know if they do our retaliation will be swift and complete, so they would gain nothing but 15 minutes of "victory." It would be difficult to see China retaliating on behalf of an unprovoked nuclear attack by North Korea - they are so intertwined with the US now that, although we are ideological foes, economically we're more than married. To attack the US, or cripple the US in any way whether that be militarily or economically, would cripple China as well. China's position is not secure. With over one billion mouths to feed, a war against the US would become extremely difficult extremely quickly. A hungry populace isn't prone to being enamored of their overlords. They'd almost have to fight a war on two fronts - both against us and their own people. If Tienanmen Square taught us nothing else, it taught us that there is a sizable portion of their population dissatisfied with those in power. It won't take a lot to fan the flames of that dissatisfaction. So even if N. Korea decided their saber-rattling was at an end and it was time to do something significant, they cannot count on Chinese backing this time. The world is a very different place than it was 55 years ago, and bedfellows have changed quite a bit.
  19. That, or this is all just overblown and he's a QB and on the team and we can chalk this up as offseason boredom. That's my ideal resolution to this. But we'll see. All too often these guys with these rumors aren't BSing. I wish sometimes that they were more often, but we see too many of these rumors turn out to be true.
  20. There's a lot of truth here. Especially when you look at what we have at QB in the stable and committed, we're pretty loaded. If he's not willing to help out the team and he's going to transfer, we haven't lost much except potential. And every guy on the roster has potential. True, but my reasoning is it just looked like to me in the spring game that he just that "it" factor at just making plays. But realistically he hasn't proven anything yet like you said so we'll just wait and see where this goes... I was at the Spring Game, too. I know he's got talent, and that "it" factor, and it seems pretty odd to me that we would transfer our #3 QB to another position, but that's what Bo's quote sounded like to me.

  22. Do you have Cox service? If so, I hear you. The DVR works great, functionality is great, but the amount of memory is horrible. TimeWarner. Same diff.
  23. I see the North Koreans have taken their public speaking cues from Mohammad Saeed al-Sahhaf. I miss that guy.
  24. yea it helps when Phillips was didn't play most of the season. Except that Ahman was playing before Phillips went off the reservation. He scored twice in our first two games, both of which Phillips played in. Just like DT, RB is a position where having many guys ready to play is at a premium, and true Freshmen playing doesn't necessarily mean you have no talent on the depth chart.
