  1. Posted yesterday, moved to Recruiting.
  2. And just like when Callahan got canned, we didn't take a public image hit because everyone out there can see how awful our offense is, so firing Watson wouldn't be looked at as a silly move.
  3. Pretty sure you're talking about the Oklahoma game where Lee took a pounding. Coincidentally, they only showed his parents after he took a particularly vicious hit. I wouldn't be smiling if that was my kid, either.
  4. Your friend is probably the only person on that committee who thought that. The Fiesta Bowl would have loved to have us again: The ratings would be high and the stadium would be packed. They'd get to watch a fantastic defense show their stuff and our offense wouldn't burn out any light bulbs on their scoreboard. The Fiesta Bowl loves us. Always have.
  5. They're going to have to wait a month or two to do that. It's going to be smoking hot for a while after the game.
  6. Whatever helps you forget 17-3, Mr. Sports Radio 810 in KC Guy. PS - enjoy your bowl game. EDITED - didn't see he was a KSU guy.
  7. That whole "I knew there was one second left" stuff from McCoy and Mack Brown is BS. I don't fault them for saying it - it's what you have to say in their situation - but it's not true. Neither of them saw the ball hit the ground and instantly glanced at the game clock to see it still say one second. That's not impossible, it's just extreeeeeeemly unlikely.
  8. To an extent he has a point - Suh wouldn't be considered highly if the "sexy" traditional players/positions were having brilliant years. That's more of a failure of the voters than it is of Suh. Like I've said before, people do not grasp almost half the game. They have no idea the positional requirements of most defenders. They like the low-hanging fruit of offense, since it's easy to grasp. Offense's purpose is to score points. Young children get that more points = better, and sadly, most "experts" don't progress beyond that mentality. They look at yardage totals and touchdowns as if they are the end-all, be-all of football. The perception is that defense is a necessary evil of the game, a backdrop against which they cast the light of their offensive heroes. There is a bias against defense in this mentality, because defenders endeavor to stop those easy-to-comprehend numbers. The failure isn't in this guy's predictor. As far as I can tell, he's just calling it like it is. The failure is in the minds of the voters and the self-perpetuating belief that offense > defense. The more offensive players who win this award, the more likely it is that they always will, until a player comes along who is brilliant enough, dominant enough and transcendent enough that, despite their bias, they cannot help but notice him. That's what Suh has done, and that in itself is a mighty accomplishment.
  9. "Snowpocalypse." That's pretty funny. =)
  10. Thirteen posts in three years? Don't be a stranger!
  11. The Big X viaduct near campus was created to keep Suh out of the path of oncoming trains. Union Pacific was complaining that too many of their trains were getting wrecked when Suh walked across the tracks.
  12. I wish we could get away from these bucket labels of "Watson Haters" and "Watson Supporters." It's not like you have to be 100% against the guy to realize there's something wrong. We are not scheming to our strengths. We are not developing talent. We are not progressing during the season. These are problems beyond a loss of talent and/or injury. It doesn't take someone with a grudge against a coach to realize this.
  13. It's not that hard to make your own jokes. All of mine are originals. They may not be terribly funny, but they're new.
  14. President Obama has revised his Afghanistan troop surge numbers from 30,000 down to just one. Suh leaves in January, just after the Holiday Bowl.
  15. Suh's shoulder pads have been identified as only the third man-made object so large you can see it from space, along with the Great Wall of China and the towel used to soak up Tim Tebow's tears.
  16. I would love to hear an explanation for why McNeil has been underutilized. He's averaging two receptions and 18 yards per game this year. He has 200 fewer yards receiving. That is staggering.
  17. That attitude hasn't gone anywhere. I don't read these comments as dismissing that attitude, I see them as angst over a very real problem we're having on offense. This is exactly what is going on here. This is a very real problem we are facing. Recruits are looking at us and saying we run the ball a lot, we don't run it that effectively, and we get field goals instead of touchdowns. Defensively, I don't see any reason a player wouldn't want to play for us other than the fact that why would you want to go to a team that plays great defense if the offense failed to score a winning touchdown in three games this year? Yep, and it's not as if we don't have talent on that side of the ball. There's NO WAY we have less talent on offense than, say, Connecticut, who is ranked 60 spots higher on scoring offense and who has played a tougher SOS. There's clearly a major problem, but a fixable problem. Bo just needs to figure out what the problem is, and get it fixed.
  18. It would be helpful if you would provide a list of posters to whom this was directed. It'd be a shame to see the wrong person respond. I'm not getting into another pissing match with you. If you want that, find someone else and please move along. If not, continue adding something useful to the discussion. Thanks. It's a fair question, considering your post above. Just sayin'.

  20. I liked this line: It's funny because it's true.
  21. That attitude hasn't gone anywhere. I don't read these comments as dismissing that attitude, I see them as angst over a very real problem we're having on offense. It has gone somewhere, just look at the posts. It doesn't matter to them that the kid apparently (if you only take what he said) makes an ill-informed decision (all they do is run...ok? lol) and decides to go elsewhere. It doesn't matter that shows he didn't really want to be part of this program or this tradition. It shows they just want to toss another log on the Watson bonfire regardless anything else. Sad, very sad. I don't see it that way at all, but even if that was the case, what's wrong with that? I'm not a "Watson hater," but I'm pretty unhappy with the way the offense has gone this season. There's simply no excuse for having the players we have, yet being unable to score touchdowns in two games, and for only eking out 106 yards on national television. I'm going to support our coaches as much as I can, but even the most ardent supporter of Watson has to step back and see that at least some of the criticism sent his way has merit.
  22. The Allman Brothers would be proud of Ndamukong Suh this week. Brian Christopherson has a rundown of Suh's traveling plans this week: I chopped this up quite a bit for brevity. BC has much more info on what's going on where, with whom in his article. Full Article
