  1. Kansas is getting the nod because they think they'll beat us in their house. It's up to us to make believers out of these pollsters.
  2. The rest of the article is pretty good, and well worth the read.
  3. So if you were here during Rumorville, you know that your litmus test for determining who is or isn't messing around isn't very accurate. And so we're clear, I'm not trying to run the OP into the ground. I just pointed out the difficulty of citing unnamed sources in general. This whole tangent is way overblown.
  4. Yeah. It's not that easy. And if you were here during the Rumorville days, you'd understand how simplistic you're making this.
  5. I'm not trying to cast doubt on him, or anyone really. It's just so easy to fake info that you can't take anything at face value. Anyone who was here during the 2007 season will remember Rumorville and all the nonsense that went along with it. Everyone wanted to be listened to and nobody could name their source. It was a joke, and it left a lot of folks with a sour taste in their mouth for the boards. I was inactive here for a long time after that season, and I'm still leery of anyone with "inside information."
  6. I've been excited about Hagg for a while now. He has a lot of raw skill, so if he can pull it together I think he can be a star back there. At LB... we have so many. I guess I don't care who gets more PT, as long as the unit is productive. If they're even competent behind that D Line, we could have the best DEF in the Big XII, by far.
  7. I missed that part, but then it makes the numbering pretty pointless, doesn't it? Also I was distracted by the choppiness of his writing. It was like reading a fifth-grader's hastily-assembled paper after realizing he hadn't done his homework the night before. EDIT - and to expand on that a bit... Whether it's in numerical order or alphabetical order, having two instances where Missouri was "victimized" in this list is laughable. There are five better instances where Nebraska was "victimized" by a villain that I could name off the top of my head. The dude is comically focused on Missouri and things that relate to Missouri, and there's no place for that in journalism.
  8. It's reasonable to expect a staged recovery more than a turnaround in a specific time frame. So many things were broken, and badly so, during 2004-2007 that all the damage will take a lot of time to fix. And some of it may never be fixed. You have to look at this turnaround like an inverted pyramid. You have to have a solid base first thing or nothing else will come around. Bo could have started building that base in several different areas. He chose to work with the guys he has, and instill in them a work ethic and a mindset that better reflects what we, as fans, expect. That’s a pretty solid basis to start from. Out of that comes better competition. Out of that comes winning. Out of that comes recruiting. Once all steps are in place, then you start looking at how high you can take that model. We’ve established a solid base so far. We’ve made some strides in competing, and we’ve made some strides in winning. We haven’t accomplished enough yet to make recruiting come around where everyone wants it, but if we keep doing what we’re doing, eventually recruiting will come around. As a wise man once said, “You and I’ve got what it takes to make it. We won’t fake it… All we need is just a little patience.”
  9. After they're right a few times, yeah, you tend to take it at face value. There are a few posters most people know to take at their word. But that's an earned level of respect, not granted initially.
  10. You're going to have to name your source or you're going to be questioned. Nobody is gullible enough to take anyone's word for face value on the Internet (or you'd hope nobody is), so don't get riled if people question you. You'd do the same if someone else were making proclamations.
  11. If he wanted a real "villain" from Nebraska against Missouri, he should have picked Kellen Huston. Otherwise a good kid, his decking of a Mizzou fan amounts to real villainy to me.
  12. And there's your explanation for why Forde left the Huskers off his preseason rankings. No, it was not intentional. No, it was not illegal. Had the pass bounced off Wiggins' knee or elbow it would have been the same. It happened to bounce off his foot, and that's why Forde and Mizzou cry foul. But to declare Matt Davison #5 on any list of "villains" is ridiculous. He has two "villains" in his top ten who "victimized" Missouri - Davison at #5 and the chain gang who gave Colorado their fifth down at #9. I suppose this article would play well if he was writing it for the local paper in Columbia, but this is for a national audience, Forde. Most readers are going to just shake their heads at stuff like this, and walk away. I cruised through this list, which once again confirms what I already think of ESPN. [shakes head/walks away]
  13. This kind of nutrition information should be taught to every kid in school.
  14. We're having problems in this thread because everyone is using a different definition of what a "turning point" is. We need to narrow down the cliches better. Under Callahan, we were heading in the wrong direction. Firing Callahan helped stop the bleeding. Bringing in Bo changed the culture of the program. Bo's systems are a step in the right direction. Although we're heading in the right direction, we still have a long way to go.
  15. The Huskers are coming to Laramie in 2011. And yes I think its a little crazy that our AD was able to get a program like Nebraska in our stadium along with Texas coming to town this year. The 2011 game is just a pay it foward for 2013 and 2016 in Lincoln, we gotta leave home occasionally. Yep. And remember that Laramie is closer to a lot of western-Nebraska Husker fans than Lincoln, and probably FAR easier to get tickets. So they'll do what most everyone in the North does and sell two-for-one ticket packages for the game and get essentially two full stadiums out of one game. That's some decent cash for a small school like Wyoming, lots of fans in western Nebraska get to see the team, and we get another easy win. It's a "win" for everyone.
  16. It is catchy. I've been humming it since it was posted. I don't think it's meant to demean Nebraska. Even if it was, I'm not offended. We have a proud agricultural tradition here, and hog farming is part of it. I have no interest in nor ties to agriculture, but my grandfather and uncle farmed and I respected them both a great deal. If this is a "crack" at Nebraska... I've heard better. jayhawk, do they sing this before every home game? If so, it'd be pretty hard to call it a dig on Nebraska.
  17. Let's also not forget that Southern Miss returns the bulk of their offense, which set several school records last year. They can score, and Kansas' defense will be tested.
  18. sorry, i disagree with that observation, Ganz was the leader of the offense and he deserved to start every game, including some when Clownahan was here. Witt just got impatient, something (patience) Ganz learned early in his career. i will always respect Ganz for "hanging in"............. I'm not really sure what you're disagreeing with. I'm talking about getting the second-stringers some reps in-game, not whether Green should start over Zac. To make that point, I'm saying Witt (last year's #2) should have gotten some PT last year. I'm not saying anything about Witt's departure, or that Witt should have started. The #1's start, not the #2's.
  19. The main reason he was fired was the morale of the Athletic Dept. People were walking on egg shells at work, brought in an outside consultant, ruined the "family" feel of the department Yeah, I remember reading about that, but that doesn't mean he wasn't popular at one time, or with programs outside the front office. All I know is, there were some teams that weren't excited to see him go.
  20. I think we should have a poll of your Husker friends to see who won. I don't think you can just declare on your own. =)
  21. To my knowledge the Husker band doesn't use this song. If they do, a couple of friends and one relative of mine who were all in the band failed to mention it. Granted, they were all in the band in the 90s, so this could be a new thing. I've never heard of this song. Here are the lyrics for anyone interested: When it's hog calling time in Nebraska, When it's hog calling time in Nebraska, When it's hog calling time in Nebraska, Then it's hog calling time in Nebraska! One note - that band of yours can sing a tune. They sounded pretty good.
  22. That would explain the Sandler pic.
  23. He meant TO as in Terrell Owens, that is who called Jeff Garcia gay. Junior was replying to my post above his, and since he's right (what I said wasn't really addressing his point) I edited my post. Sorry for the confusion.
  24. Here's one. I'm not in to ink, but she's a nice looking woman. LINK (SFW)
