  1. Well, thank you Captain Obvious.... errrr.... whatever. Yeah, I know what you're saying. I know all about reporting with this little nifty Journalism background I have. So I get where you and Halpert are coming from, I really do. That doesn't mean you can't use other sources for your information.
  2. It's because that they need to confirm it with the reliable source before printing it. About 27 years ago, a major national news network went with a rumor that the president was dead and reported it. Trust me, they've been hearing the rumors for the same amount of time that we have, they just can't run with them without having accountability (like us). It had been reported yesterday that Spano was in street clothes. I imagine he had an MRI today, thus the coaches had nothing to confirm until after practice. Clearly the coaches aren't the only sources available if guys on HuskerBoard and/or Rivals, plus a guy I speak to on the LJS website, knew about this by the time it was posted here. I get the fact that they have to be accountable, but there are other ways to be accountable. Either Bo has a tremendously tight lid on this program (which seems unlikely given the fact that we've been talking about this for over two hours before it was in a local media outlet) or the local media just isn't doing a lot of investigative reporting. EDIT - and the guys on 1480 The Spread, Jason Peter and the Nancy Boy (whatever his name is) are still not talking about Spano. They're talking about USA soccer vs. Mexico, the location of the Big XII Championship game, and other stuff. Nothing to do with Spano at all. Eh.
  3. I would imagine he'd be shut down if he aggravated it. Why risk the kid?
  4. Not to be too harsh, but this does not speak well of local media. If this information is accessible to folks on the Internet/blogosphere/whatever, why can't they hint or allude to it at all? Things that make you say hmmmm......
  5. Sorry. I edited that while you typed. Look above. =)
  6. The Spread on 1480 isn't talking about Spano. ATM they're talking about Evans from VA Tech, and talking to a guy from Blacksburg (some media guy) about that. You'd think Spano would be a hot topic. I suppose the coaches could be keeping an injury under wraps, but it seems unlikely.
  7. Based on what? Spano getting hurt. Where did you read that Spano is hurt?
  8. Funny you mentioned that because I checked the OWH twitter page and they have nothing on this: http://twitter.com/OWHbigred
  9. In that Rivals thread someone asks for a link to an article or something saying this really happened, and the response was, "Why would we need one?" That's not exactly solid info to be basing this on...
  10. If it's true we'll find out after practice this afternoon. I would suspect that if he's hurt he wouldn't be at the start of practice, and that would be reported on by legit news sites. Neither the Weird Herald nor the JournalStar have anything about this. I'm a bit of a skeptic...
  11. Did this happen yesterday or today?
  12. If this happened yesterday why aren't any of the local news outlets reporting on it?
  13. That's a link from the ESPN power rankings thread. Try again?
  14. I'm generally all for anything that brings Erin Andrews to Lincoln.
  15. What's the date on the first post of that thread?
  16. Yes, and I wasn't trying to imply that you were intentionally doing anything. That was a poor choice of words on my part. I think the actual numbers give a clearer picture, especially since Forde doesn't have us ranked at all. I fixed my first post so it doesn't seem like I'm accusing you of something.
  17. We're only 12th in one guy's rankings (Maisel's). The others are: Forde - Nebraska unranked Griffin - #20 Low - #18 McShay - #16 EDIT - Took out the first sentence, which read like I was accusing Spooky of something he clearly wasn't doing.
  18. I think it is time for Joey to move on with his life and come to the realization that he isn’t going to play in the NFL. Maybe it is just me but I have grown tired of reading the same article over and over again about him being slighted and so on. Not all decent College Quarterbacks are cut out for the NFL. It is just the way it works. Agreed. Football at a higher level just isn't in the cards for Joe. He'll make a heck of a coach, and there are worse things in the world. And no matter what, he'll have some amazing games to point to and tell his grandkids, "I did that. I was the QB for one of the top programs in the country, and I competed well." That's pretty cool. It didn't hurt Rick Pitino. (sorry to all our Kentucky fan brethren, that was a cheap shot) Seriously though, I don't think it would hurt him much. She's not doing anything illegal (as long as she stays out of Marz). Maybe they'll treat him differently if he's on the staff than they would as a player, but there was that Playboy girl that was posted in the other thread who dated... someone on the team. That's maybe evidence that such an association wouldn't hurt him.
  19. You need to look at the entirety of these schedules, not just one opponent here and there. Yeah, most everyone plays one semi-decent team, but overall these OOC schedules are pretty weak. At #2, you're not alleging that Texas Tech is an OOC game for Texas, are you? Oregon also plays Purdue, giving them three for three on decent OOC games. Oregon has one of the toughest schedules on paper at this point in the season. Let's hope that doesn't turn around and bite them before it's all over.
  20. I would recommend anyone dogging any other team's OOC schedule to peruse the OOC schedule of the Top 25 this year. Heck, any year. Most top teams do not schedule other top teams, and in general play weak OOC schedules, year in and year out. Sure, Kansas' schedule is weak OOC. But that doesn't make them any different than... pretty much 80% of the Top 25.
  21. Because there are people who love nothing more than to bring up dirt on an opponent. You see it all the time, especially in SEC boards talking about SEC opponents. LP is one of the favorites of the Husker bashers out there. I have yet to see a time when LP made a headline for yet another crime that it wasn't posted by some non-Husker fan in some board that I frequent. It gets tedious, especially when there are former Huskers out there doing good things, things that are in the news, and those don't get posted by the same people. On a scale of one to ten this is probably a two. It's not a big deal. But you asked.
  22. I do some fantasy stuff on CBS Sportsline so I check their headlines every once in a while. They have a writer named "Dodd" who is an absolute moron. Here's his latest: This is certainly a big blow to VA Tech, and it sucks that it happened three weeks before the opener, but for the love of Frank Beemer, it's not like the cupboard is completely empty in Blacksburg. They have talented guys, they're just young. Young does not = incapable. Sorry for spoiling an otherwise decent thread with this guy, but he just slays me sometimes.
